TotallyOz Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 Yes, this was abuse and should not have happened. Jeeze. Why are cops not understanding their actions are not acceptable? I watched the video and am truly ashamed of the way our young black youths are being treated. https://edition.cnn.com/2020/06/15/us/tulsa-jaywalking-arrest-new-video/index.html Quote
Members RockHardNYC Posted June 15, 2020 Members Posted June 15, 2020 I have racist cops in my family. Very proud of their gun collections. One of them is a hot mother-fucker in his early 30's, with the cutest bubble butt. In spite of that, I do everything I can to avoid them. Confrontation does not intimidate me, but I have little patience for willful ignorance. On the other hand, I'm working on a feature film script for a murder mystery, and I'm going to need access to police detective consult. I've thought about bringing in one of my relatives (two are detectives), but the murdered victim in my screenplay is an escort (the son of a famous politician). Do I really expect some detective in the Midwest to know anything about that? And do I really need to use project as a bonding opportunity with a relative? Anyway, I've been to Tulsa several times on business. Very segregated town. Oklahoma is not the best state to live in if you are Black. Quote
Members JKane Posted June 16, 2020 Members Posted June 16, 2020 I really can't imagine Trump's Klan campaign rally in Tulsa is going to be anything but a shitshow, possibly a bloodbath. Especially the way they idiotically called attention to it by scheduling it on Juneteenth and then only moving it back a fucking day, if people want to protest both the history and current titular head of white supremacy, Tulsa this weekend seems like the ticket! axiom2001 1 Quote

The mere fact you have to sign a LIABILITY WAIVER to attend tells you everything you need to know about Trump. And his cult won't hesitate to sign them. And if any of them get sick and die, not one fucking penny from him or his campaign. You will not have the right to sue. IMO, this is an OUTRAGEOUS act of putting people in harm's way. Purposely, for Trump's ego. Trump deserves the wrath of God if he goes through with it. I'm just astounded by the amount of selfish EVIL in this one man. I wish more leaders in health care would step up and loudly denounce this whole fiasco. I was happy to see Tulsa newspapers coming out against it, but there needs to be serious pile on. We're in a fucking pandemic and Trump wants to infect a crowd of people. The country is being lead by a madman. Edited June 16, 2020 by RockHardNYC Quote
Members JKane Posted June 16, 2020 Members Posted June 16, 2020 Please keep in mind, I don't give any shits about the lives of the people attending the rally and signing the wavier, that's peak natural selection and will make the world a better place. The bloodbath I'm worried about is righteous protester anger and massive (Federal...?) over-response from baby-hands. Quote

If you're under the spell of a cult leader and put yourself at risk, then you're entitled to get what you asked for. However, this virus does not discriminate. The rally folk put everyone else at risk, too. The bloodbath you describe could very well happen. Quote

If he walks into a closed space with twenty thousand screaming Oklahomans, he's got to know that at least some of them are asymptomatically infectious. Everybody in there is signing a waiver in case they pick up the virus, so he's got to know that he could pick up the virus. If he goes in there without a mask and does his usual call-and-response for an hour or two, I'll admit I've misjudged him. A medical pile on would give him the cover he needs to pull the plug. Members RockHardNYC Posted June 17, 2020 Members Posted June 17, 2020 Thank you Thomas Friedman at the NY Times! Is Trump Trying to Spread Covid-19? "It is absolutely devilish" "We know that countries where everyone wears a mask outside the home sharply reduce the spread and that people who practice strict social distancing infect fewer people and are infected less often. And we know that people who avoid “superspreading” events — large, prolonged social gatherings, religious services and crammed nightclubs and workplaces, where one highly contagious person can quickly spew the virus to many others — are less likely to get infected." What a relief to find this article this morning: Friedman calling Trump a spawn of the Devil. Friedman usually gets TV coverage when he writes something like this. Perhaps in the next few days momentum can occur with the media pushing hard. IMO, there is no way Trump and Co. can spin this horrific act. He's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. It would be GREAT for America if the pressure forced him to cancel the event. Either way, it's going to be a media shitshow no matter what decision is made. As it should be. The photo by Doug Mills that accompanies the Op-ed is brilliant. A smug, defiant prick. lookin and JKane 2 Quote

What we can get sooner through the next few years, it is the removal of most, if not all, symbols honoring White Supremacy heroes in this country. Quote

Like Lyndon Johnson, Trump will be monitoring the daily attendance at the library. (The "body count"). Quote

Even though he's well away from the nearest audience member, he's still in a room with plenty of virus droplets likely to be floating around. He must have convinced himself he won't be breathing any in. At least a million people didn't show up. Nor 19,000 people judging from all the empty seats in the bleachers. Apparently Brad Parscale is blaming the protesters, who have been very well behaved from what I've read, but he's the guy who I expect was in charge of bringing in the rubes. And he didn't. I bet somebody's gonna get unmasked tonight. Edited June 21, 2020 by lookin Quote
Members Latbear4blk Posted June 21, 2020 Members Posted June 21, 2020 The rumor is that without organization, just spontaneously, the demand for tickets was fabricated by a bunch of kiddos making reservations and tricked the campaign to expect massive attendance. Quote
Members tassojunior Posted June 21, 2020 Members Posted June 21, 2020 The K Pop kids on Twitter were pretty open about inflating expectations for crowds. There was almost zero overflow crowd so there was just little enthusiasm. Both sides will play this photo-op game where to cameras the crowd looks big. In fact if you look at some candid pics, camerapeople and reporters and often most of the attendees. The campaign will use the best photos and much of the media will too. Quote

This could be big. I've long believed (and posted endlessly) that Brad Parscale's used of micro-targeted and misleading use of social media was the primary (if not only) reason Trump was able to turn a popular vote loss into an electoral college win in 2016. Since then, the Trump campaign has virtually merged with the RNC campaign and the tactics used by Parscale have been expanded and refined. It's why I believe the Democratic challenger will need at least a sustained ten-point lead to blunt Parscale's manipulation of the electorate. With him out of the picture, I'm not sure the Trump/Republican campaign has anyone left who could do what he did. Here's hoping that, once again, Trump's volatility and need to blame someone for his own failures will cause him to get rid of one of the few people left who knows what he's doing. And the sooner the better. PS: If you ask me, Rick Wilson has been one of the most prescient of the Trump-watchers. JKane and AdamSmith 2 Quote
