Members SexyAsianStud
Donald Trump somehow imagines that the nation--at least the white portion of the nation--shares his nostalgia for the Confederacy. He is prepared to fight to the bitter end to save statues of Robert E. Lee and others who rebelled against the United States of America and fought a war that cost more than 600,000 lives. He calls this our "great heritage." This is the same man who ridiculed Senator John McCain, who spent five years in a Vietnamese prison cell and was brutally beaten, yet refused the chance to go home early because he would not leave until his fellow Americans were freed. Trump said he was a "loser." But he admires those who fought for states' rights, dissolution of the union, and white supremacy. Hoover froze in place for months while the economy collapsed. FDR when elected got un-stuck right quick and started trying this, that and the other thing until some of them started working. Members Pete1111
Sometimes one can question what we are taught. Some believe history was re-written to make Hoover the villain though he was actually a humanitarian, kind of like how we have come to refer to Reagan as the great communicator, though he may not have been, and how an airport was renamed for him in spite of Reagan being one of the most scandal plagued presidents. I am not an expert historian, but I did learn an alternate view at the Hoover LIbrary and also at the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates. Hoover insisted his gravesite be visible from his birthplace home as a symbol of never forgetting humble beginnings.
