Members Riobard
Monthly benefit 60% of min wage approved for “informal workers”. This may be of interest to sauna staff. GdePs? ... not sure. Gogos? ... perhaps more of an edge than trade. The individual amount is 600 reais. Delivery of package timeline uncertain. Whether this is based on income tax footprints or is more of a social welfare benefit is unclear. In Canada, such aid is predicated on previous declared income, including a sliding scale of benefit (up to a max ceiling) amount linked to pay amount. In other words, tax return of 2018 or 2019, and/or formal recent statements from employer or one’s own formal tracking of income prior to Spring tax return ( now deferred). In Brazil, employment is loosely stratified as wage/salary worker, formal entrepreneurship, and informal entrepreneurship. Where the aid package term “informal” fits here is uncertain. It may be a bit lost in translation. I hope that venue staff and drag MCs are the most eligible. They have never been able to earn vast amounts under the radar and have typically lived month to month, in contrast to ‘it’s like there is no tomorrow’. Members Riobard
BTW this may be the manner in which Prez Vacuumbag-Pocketfart is subtly dialling back his denial rhetoric. Honest to Gawd, one should write a CMBYN parody of him and his political doppelgänger Drumpf. Açai for Orange Julius ... the peach would fade into mug background, presenting a cinematographic challenge (as if there were not others). Members SolaceSoul
Has this bill been signed into law? I have been following this as much as possible for my self-employed friends in Brazil (by BrazilIan law definition, this would include sauna workers, garotos, gogo boys, personal trainers, massagistos, bartenders and the like who report at least some of their legal income to the BrazilIan government). The last information that i could find was that the bill was approved by the Chamber of Deputies (power house) and has yet to be approved by the Federal Senate (upper house). And then, I believe Bozo would have to either sign or veto it (similar to our “democracy” here in the USA). The proposed plan piggybacks on a previous law but caters it to the COVID-19 epidemic, and seems to provide $600 R monthly to “informal workers” (or self-employed): for a period of three months: “According to the proposal in question, self-employed workers may receive this benefit as long as they do not have any type of social security assistance, unemployment insurance or even participation in income transfer programs. The exception in the latter case is linked to Bolsa Família.“ https://cryptodictation.com/2020/03/27/house-approves-project-that-provides-r-600-per-month-for-informal-worker-during-quarantine/
Members Riobard
You seem to be more ‘on the ground’ on this than anyone else here. Yes it appears Senate passed the measure in a remote vote very very recently. Perhaps this source (attached) is useful here. Note: my Boytoy account is glitchy and I cannot consistently log in. Members Riobard
As far as I know, Broken Arrow will not veto it, as it is politically expedient to appear to support citizens over the short term leading up to Fall elections, should they proceed. Thanks for the source. And yes, you’re right. The Senate literally just voted for it. What a scoop! Now, it has to go to Bozo Nono for signature or veto. I, like you, think that he will sign it — only because just last week, he tried to prevent workers from getting paid during any shutdowns, and the intense public outcry shut his ass down.
