Then provide a link to the Times article.

Quick and quite simple.

The hyperlink to the article is the fourth paragraph in said post. It's sitting there underlined all by itself. As a kindness to readers and because I felt the Dr.'s perspective was important, I provided both the link and the text.

Buddy2, I'm going to cut you some slack. I know you're a bit older than I am, and I suspect you may have other issues. I really don't care if you find fault with my posts. Whatever it is that slows you down or makes you go cloudy, it does not deserve pricking from me. I wish you good health.

Someone a bit more sensitive than I mind consider that post totally ridiculous, and part of a long time of other ridiculous comments..But not I.

It seems your skin is thicker than others, a good reason to admire you.

Yeah, I have to admit all the business emails with their carefully curated caring make me want to puke. I used to write that shit for a living, so I know desperate attempts at relevancy when I see them.

Just shut up and go away. Come back when things change and it's time to re-engage. Nobody needs to hear from you right now.

Ah yes, what an art form.

Been there, done that. I admire professional writers. At least the good ones.

Almost as deflating as very bad breath.

I don't think big business can afford to appear so callous. The domino effect is very real. If one corporation sends a compassion letter, then all must. They are often left with little choice, especially when most senior executives are absent any creative thought.

I was pleased when one of my banks wrote to say that some branches would be temporarily closed. The list included my branch. Not all compassion letters are without service to the customer.

I belong to the school of thought: It's never a bad idea to remind your customer that you care about their well being. It does help if you mean it and the lip service is not obvious. For that, you need a good writer.

I realize small restaurant owners even in New York City are not used to talking on Television. But, they may eventually learn to not say "you know" several times in the same sentence.

A very, very small complaint given the major crisis.

I live in a fairly large building (Co-op). Management just sent another update email. Governor Cuomo has issued another order. Essential building workers only. We have quite a large staff here. I'll bet half just lost their jobs.

Also, all beauty, barber, nail, and facial salons have been ordered to close by tomorrow night. I suppose that means spas, too. That's a lot of people out of work, and most of those workers have no safety net.

Of course, it is always the less privileged who suffer the most. Not only all those workers without a safety net are being laid off. Besides, all the low wages essential workers have to keep working for two cents and face the risk of getting infected while better paid workers stay at home teleworking.

Plus the thousands (millions?) of kids attending public schools who will not receive any education for months, widening the gap with more affluent students. I am glad my charter school improvised a distance learning plan that has worked effectively this first week of lock down. It was just made official in DC, the schools will stay closed at least until April 27th.

Another email from building management this morning. Apparently, our package delivery room is overflowing and they want it emptied asap. (My household checks for packages every three hours because I run a tight ship.) Management claims that officials have told them that COVID-19 can remain alive on the surface of cardboard for up to twenty-four hours. But that is no guarantee. Management is spraying all packages delivered, and they are trying to reduce the number of delivery people who enter the building.

I have a personal contact at the N.I.H., so I plan to ask about this cardboard thing. If true, more people should know about it, since a lot more people are relying on deliveries now. I was out early this morning and I saw a handsome UPS guy delivering to another building in my hood. He had no mask on and no gloves. Not sure what these guys are thinking, and I wonder how informed they are.

Just now President Trump called the coronavirus the "Chinese Virus."

He is not up to Governor Cuomo. Now Trump is reading from notes, something Mr. Cuomo's knowledge doesn't need.

I realize some think it politically improper to refer to the virus as the Chinese virus but that is where it originated.  The truth shall set you free.

Governor Cuomo is a political hack.  Next he will announce military control.  Ego + power over come a lot.

Best regards,

I appreciate your comment about Governor Cuomo. But, I totally disagree: he is obviously not a political hack.

Watch his next press conference tomorrow, please.

The truth is: Trump is a RACIST. When he improperly calls COVID-19 the "Chinese virus" at the presidential lectern, he is stoking racism. That's what he does to deflect blame. No one is denying the truth about where the virus likely originated. The truth is: the virus could have originated from numerous places. "Wet markets" exist all over the world.

"The consensus among researchers studying the spread of the virus pinpoints COVID-19’s likely origin to a “wet market,” or live animal market, in Wuhan, China. Though experts have not ruled out the possibility that the pathogen could have been brought to the market by an already infected person, there is no evidence to suggest COVID-19 originated outside the country.

The origin theory for the virus is supplemented by preliminary research into the disease’s genome, as well as the origins of similar diseases. Researchers at the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Centre published the genome of COVID-19 two weeks after cases were reported in late December 2019. Gene sequencing analysis strongly suggests the virus originated in bats and was transferred to humans through a yet-unidentified intermediary species. In early February, Chinese researchers published work suggesting the intermediary species may have been the pangolin (also called a scaly anteater), though this work has not yet undergone a peer-reviewed study."

RA1, I am sorry to say you have now certified your "asshole" status with me.

Governor Cuomo is behaving exactly the way a LEADER is supposed to behave, with sincere compassion, truth, and resolve. He is openly attempting to save every life in New York State. If New York survives this disaster, Andrew Cuomo will go down in history as a great leader for his time.

Thank God the Doctor Is In.  Peeking out our windows, we see America shriveling.

"Donald Trump, the ultimate “me” guy, is in a “we” crisis and it isn’t pretty. The president is so consumed by his desire to get back his binky, a soaring stock market, that he continues to taffy-twist the facts, leaving us to look elsewhere — to Dr. Fauci and governors like Andrew Cuomo and Gavin Newsom — for leadership during this grim odyssey."

The delivery options are tempting. Restaurants in DC are waiving the delivery fee, so you just pay for Uber’s. Fortunately, so far I have been able to resist. I am cooking.

I actually realized the issue two days ago, when I went to the supermarket and the salad bar and the hot food buffet were out of order. Pizzas were pre-boxed and pastries and bread pre-bagged.
I want to support delivery services and restaurants, but until we know more, I am trying to cook as much as possible.

Governor Cuomo is not for everyone..

Chris Cuomo is more emotional and emphatic. But he has more time to get acquainted on CNN with guests who  have suffered tragic family losses because of coronavirus.

Andrew Cuomo is more serious than Trump and unlike the president  doesn't moved around and seem bored when someone else is talking. I understand Trump is trying, but he apparently can't change after a lifetime of putting himself first.

As mentioned above, Maureen Dowd speaks to Dr. Anthony Fauci about dealing with Trump. She has known Dr. Fauci since the mid-80's AIDS crisis.

"Trump is just a petrified salesman who believes in perception over reality. He thinks if he can create the perception that this is going to be a quick fix and there’s a little pill coming, then the stock market will roar back, along with his 2020 momentum.

With F.D.R. and the Great Depression, the only thing to fear was fear itself. With Trump and our new abyss, we have to fear not only fear but also the ignorance and misdirection of the White House and the profiteering of senators. Not to mention the virus."

Try reading about the coronavirus on line or watch CNN.

Italy, France and Spain are devastated, with no end in sight. A bright point, seven thousand doctors have come out of retirement in Milan to help. And Russia is offering help to Italy.

I don't really watch the Communist News Network.  I am very unhappy for those who are now infected and for all those who will be.  That is the truth.

Then watch C-SPAN.  Governor Cuomo is now on most all news channels. Much crucial information for everyone, not just New York state.

Cuomo is much better informed that some federal officials. It is your loss, RA1, if you don't watch.

Thanks for the encouragement.  I think I get plenty of news and information from many sources.  Some of it only barely biased.  :)

Governor Cuomo said a hour or so ago that feds must nationalize efforts to secure much needed supplies. He also warned that a high percentage of New Yorkers would catch coronavirus.

Without people like Doctor Fauci, the Trump press conferences are mostly useless. Mike Pence is trying also (and may privately hate the Trump Happy talk).

RAI, please stop writing about media bias. We are all in this together. Please wake up.

Sounding a lot like some of history's most famous cult leaders.

Oh give us a break! I'm no fan of Jeff Zucker, but you display yourself as a totally biased partisan hack. IMO, that's very dangerous thinking.

I admire your tenacity. Or you have loads of time on your hands attempting to convert the Jim Jones/David Koresh types?
