PattayaMale Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 One of today's front page headlines today: Fire inquiry looks into possibility of bribes The article states that police might have received bribes to let the Pub that killed so many remain open. Is this really possible? Quote
Guest gay_grampa Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 police might have received bribes ................ Is this really possible? Is this the most naive comment I have seen on a Thailand message board in a long, long time? Quote
Guest Geezer Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I'm sure pattayaMale is being factious, not naive. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 You can be certain that no one will be found to be guilty of bribery. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 My friendly neighbourhood cop said he would never take bribes. He makes so much in 'tea' money he doesn't need to resort to extortion Quote

Guest Geezer Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I’m sure this is the same phenomenon as in post #3. Ok, so it's spelled "facetious". Quote
PattayaMale Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Is this the most naive comment I have seen on a Thailand message board in a long, long time? Which part do you feel is naive? That police may take bribes or that someone would truly investigate the taking of bribes. Or were you also being facetious? (Geezeer I am relying on you for the spelling....sorry I meant Geezer)! Bob Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Which part do you feel is naive? Are you really serious? Are you, with a straight face, really asking if it is "possible" that the BIB take bribes to overlook things in Thailand? If so, that's way beyond a "naive" question (i.e., it's crossed over to the humorous level). The odds of any true investigation of police bribes involving the Santika fire is rather slim in my opinion (and, if any investigation actually occurred, it's probably even worse odds that any facts about it would ever see the light of day). Of course, this being Thailand, why not have the police investigate it? That'd be so "Thailand." Quote
