Beginning of June : restaurants, bars (limited to 50 % of capacity), museums and small shoos (< 400 m2)

From June 15 : shopping centers and shops larger than 400 m2

Is anybody taking that government guidance seriously?  Was just hearing yesterday they're far from their peak and have next to no testing so must be drastically under-reporting...  They make the US's response to Covid look smooth and well though-out.

When will Brasil open to tourists again?

here's a reference chart I found while looking online for all countries.

At this point, I would be nervous to even be on a plane. Get sick where I'm going or worse being stuck there. I had a minor ailment in Brasil last year and it was not easy to get help.

An interesting point. When Brazil was staging circuses like the World Cup and the Olympics I recall there was a major backlash with rational people arguing the money should have been spent on education and more importantly its apparently decrepit hospital system. With this system now stretched to its limit and beyond Brazil is not a country to get sick. Something to consider.

So would you say that this will drive up the prices of going to Brazil or is it better to plan for later. This year or next year. Cause it seems like it would take some of the cruising fun out of theaters and saunas.

There hasn’t been cruising in Rio in theaters for a number of years so don’t think there will be any effect!, but I expect the saunas(the ones left standing)will be As busy if not busier then ever. There are going to be many more guys out of work looking to make cash based on the messages I have getting from Rio,  Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre the past week!

Slight correction. Cine Rex in the Cinelandia area of Centro, and it’s next door neighbor Sexy Rose, are still active cruise spots.  Cine Tex is a dark, dirty, sleazy and smelly old adult movie theatre that also sometimes has hustlers. Sexy Rose is a video booth / peep show establishment with dark cruise areas, sometimes a DJ and a drag show, and as far as I can tell, no hustlers.

As of this year’s Carnaval, they were both still open, but I have no idea about pandemic and post-pandemic.

All GPs I met in Rio and Salvador told me that most of their income and most of the saunas' business comes from local clients, not from the tourists. I agree, we will see an increase in paid sex offerings, I just wonder if there is going to be an increase on paid sex demand, considering the country is closed to international travelers and local clients are suffering also economic troubles.

Both were indeed open. There are no tourists in these places. Last time I went to Rex some time ago, some boys were ready to have sex for money (30 or 40 R$). As long as these places will remain open, I think that people will continue go cruising. Entrance is 20 R$. As mentioned above, the Rex is dirty and smelly with sometimes lot of action on the sides of the theater or close to the bathrooms

Those cruisy theaters seem to be a staple in every big Latin-American metropolis. There are several of them in Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Rosario in Argentina.

But not as fun as they were 25 years ago. Back then, before our age of infinite and ubiquitous porn, a sizable majority of the clientele in Latin adult cinemas was around 25 years old, all of them horny and many of them quite amenable. Now, the theaters are like those that used to be in the US: dark, dirty, and much older clientele. Perhaps they're the same 20-somethings now a few decades later.

In São Paulo, Cine Dom José behind the Teatro Municipal on Rua Dom José do Barros has boys hanging out in the surrounding lanches waiting for clients and/or selling substances. Cine Paris on Avenida Ipiranga not far from the Praça da República usually has boys hanging out on the sidewalks waiting for clients. I prefer to take a stroll over the two bridges in the Praça da República and then head over to one of the three lanches in the first block across from the Praça on Vieira de Carvalho for a juice before heading back to the Praça da República for another look see. Good exercise at least although easier and safer with one of the tantric massage guys on Grindr and Scruff.
