PattayaMale Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 A good friend took me to this restaurant tonight. It is a bit hidden as not on the main roads but easy to get to. The food is excellent and the male waiters make the place very comfortable! I had the pork wrapped in thin bacon with glazed apples and my Thai friend had the sea bass over 2 kinds of pasta that is served with a spicy red pepper sauce. He really liked it and when we left said he'd like to come back. The red house wine was also very good we felt. They gave a fresh oyster on the shell complimentary. before the brought our starter. Directions from Pattaya take Thappraya road towards Jomtien at soi 7 or 9 turn left and take either soi to the end. http://www.pattayabistro.com 038 364 327 Quote
Gaybutton Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Thank you for this post. I've never heard of this restaurant. Based on your review and their web site I'll definitely be giving it a try very soon. It looks like a real "find." Quote
Guest laurence Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Thanks for the tip. I recall a restaurant at end of Walking Street with the same name, I believe but it has been closed. Maybe this is the new location? The bf loves oysters on the half shell so will have to make this a must see. Quote

Hi PattayaMale - i think that Thappraya soi 11 is a more accurate address for Cafe Des Amis... Both Sansuk Sauna and Cafe Des Amis have their signs at the top of Thappraya soi 11 The restaurant is at the top of the small street leading into the sauna... (not long after the much spoken about Morocan castle) Quote
Guest buddy_guy Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 You can use Soi 9 at the 7-11 or Soi 11 and they both essentially end up there. The restaurant is half way in between. Enjoyed the palce for a meal and had a nice glass of wine or two on the the little outdoor patio. Recommended. Quote
Guest gay_grampa Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 This is one of the nicest restaurants I have been to recently. The food is excellent and inexpensive and the service is great. There is a smoking area outside in the garden courtyard. Easy Directions: The entrance to the restaurant is about 50 metres from the entrance to Sansuk Sauna. Quote
Guest laurence Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I did check out the website and menu and location. Looks good. As long as there is steak on the menu the bf will be happy especially with the oysters. I like the name, Cafe Des Amis, Cafe of Friends, I believe. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 , Cafe Des Amis, Cafe of Friends, I believe 100% for your French Quote
PattayaMale Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 Another reason I like this restaurant, beside the food and drink, is the waiter named James. I feel he is very nice....he told a farang friend of mine that he has a crush on my Thai friend. Not sure that helps me, but James is very nice Quote

PattayaMale Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 I was back at Cafe Des Amis this evening. I took a friend that use to write speeches in the White House and his Thai Friend. His friend used to work at Poseidon, and said the food was very good. So your Thai friends may like the food there. Another waiter just started to work there. Some may know him. His name is Jesse. He use to work at Memories in Sunee Plaza when Oud owned that bar a few years ago. I saw him a few months ago working at another host bar. Now he is at Cafe Des Amis. Quote
