I'm going to Maui in a few weeks!

I read this amazing thread recommending a gay nude beach and I will definitely be checking that out. Any other bars or hotspots of note?

I also don't know if this is too much to ask for but are there any luau shows it something similar in Honolulu or Maui that have really hot guys?

I hope others can help you @adamdub I was in Maui on vacation a few years ago. I thought it was a very beautiful place where you can access the wilderness easily and there are some terrific hikes. 
 

I strongly suggest that if you will be looking for company, you should take a companion with you. There are some nice beaches but we didn’t find any “bars or hotspots”, but to be fair we weren’t looking for such. We did stumble on a very nice gay-friendly place off the Hana highway, and the locals we met and talked to had a ‘live and let live’ attitude. That said, I doubt that a gay singleton would have a wild social time unless you happen to encounter another gay singleton on vacation.

Oh no worries I'm actually going with my husband. I was just curious what the nightlife might be like, but I kinda suspected it was pretty low key.

I've been to Hawaii many times, mostly Maui, and for some reason, the last thing I think of when I go is "gay." If I want "gay" when I travel, I usually bring "gay" with me.

I have known gay guys who live in Hawaii, but they're coupled. I hear there's a strong gay community there. The islands seem to be paradise for couples, so I don't believe there's much of a single's scene, especially on Maui. The exception is Honolulu, but it's definitely no Key West or Provincetown.

If there are gay hotspots, I'm sure that info is easy to find on the internet. I'm sure well-known cruising areas are fully documented and discussed. Just need to search.

Went there on business in 2008 & found it a complete desert in terms of sex for hire. I (who likes everything) could not even get a female escort available without like 4 hours of advance notice. And she cussed me out for even wanting that 'short' availability.

Truly a strange place for hiring.

I've been to Maui countless times and am heading there next Sunday for a week. 

 

1.  You're referring to Little Beach, which is nude (if you want to be) and offers a cool drum circle every Sunday where the locals come before sunset, say 3 or so, and drink and indulge.  It's a lot of fun.  Little Beach and Big Beach are great fun and have huge waves. They are located in Makena - about 10 minutes from Wailea where I stay at the FS, which is great too. 

2.  Any nightlife at all is located in Lahaina, and to a much smaller extent in Kihei.  There's a martini bar in "the triangle" which is decent and as close to gay is you're gonna get, which isn't very at all. 

3.  Mama's Fish is a must.  We've eaten damn near everywhere and a lot of the big names are pretty average in taste while quite expensive for what it is.  Where are you staying?  Monkeypod (best Mai Tai and good food), Lahaina Grill, Merriman's Kapalua (for the best sunset on the island) for drinks and apps - dinner is average - gorgeous view, perhaps the best on the island, Spago at the FS - ask for Jeb as a waiter, Hali'imaile General Store, Star Noodle,   Paia Fish Market, Mala Ocean Tavern, Sansei are all good. 

4.  Alii Nui sunset cruise.  Reasonable and includes drinks and heavy app buffet.  Much prefer the app cruise to sit down dinner. These guys are the best, offer a new boat, and you'll def see whales. 

5.  The Old Lahaina Luau is the best on the island, and the one at the Marriott in Wailea is pretty good too.  Cuties and talent.

6.  The helicopter tour that takes in West Maui and Molokai is awesome.  My favorite excursion to date.
