This thread has been a revelation! I'm in CDMX this week and have some observations:

1. Venezuelan and Colombian scorts raise their rates on grindr to 2000 pesos. Not sure if that is comparable to what you get on other sites

2. As central and walkable as staying in Zona Rosa is, its also a bit grimy compared to Polanco or even the Refroma just a few blocks north. It may not be worth it if you're not into the club/bar scenes.

Try walking (or taxi or uber) around Hamburgo, starting at Praga until Toledo and up to Reforma.....late night. You'll find Colombian, Venezuelan and Mexican hustlers for 500 pesos going rate.

Update:

Just curious if anyone knows if Sodome is still in business. My partner and I went there in September and it was ”unexpectedly closed” which was disappointing, but I understand that can happen there from time to time with certain types of establishments. Where did this leap come from? By your rationale, you would be guilty of the same considering you would have no issue with taking advantage of said escorts for a "bargain".

I never bargain, but in principle, I would not have an issue bargaining and/or hiring an instagrammer.  He knows what he is doing, has many other options and is definitely not desperate. Wow!  I've never paid 3000 pesos for any guy in CDMX.  Had some offers around 2500 pesos but even then I declined and then they would go lower.  1000-1500 is not too bad for foreigners but I will go up to 2000 if I'm getting everything I want out of the experience, like multiple extras.  On my last trip, I was shopping around between a couple of guys, both the same price IIRC or very close (1200 or so?).  I set up an appt with one and declined the other.  He went quite a bit lower, around 750-ish.  Had it not been my last day, I would have made arrangements to meet the next day.  I stuck with the first guy though and was very glad I did.  It was an explosively good time, possibly in my top 10 even!  I will definitely be seeing him next time I visit, which might even be this month.

Anyway, my point is 2000 pesos should be on the high side, but try to negotiate to something closer to 1000-1500.  And you don't even have to negotiate per se.  Just decline and let them make you an offer.

12is12, it's not dangerous, I've walked around Zona Rosa at night alone and felt very safe and the people I met in the clubs/bars were friendly. I just have social anxiety about gay clubs in general and feel more comfortable going with others.

I think the main thing to be aware of is know enough Spanish to order specific drinks and not get potentially ripped off.
