Tomcal Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 I am going there in July(not the best time, hot, humid and frequent afternoon showers!)but I getting my permanent residency Visa! If you are 60 or older, and meet Mecico's financial requirements for monthly income and savings you can skip the 4 year TEMPORARY VISA And go right to permanent status. As a side benefit my Brazilian boyfriend is joining me there! SteveMtl, Latbear4blk, floridarob and 1 other 4 Quote
Members msclelovr Posted June 8, 2019 Members Posted June 8, 2019 I assume that Congratulations are in order @Tomcal Just two small questions: does this mean you will spend much more time there in future? And will you have to file and pay Mexican taxes on income and gains etc? Tomcal 1 Quote
Popular Post Tomcal Posted June 8, 2019 Author Popular Post Posted June 8, 2019 (edited) Thanks Msclelovr ! I plan on spending 2 weeks every other month there( more or less), I don't have to pay taxes on my income that is earned outside of Mexico, which is All of it. The only taxes I pay each year are my property taxes which are extremely low in Mexico. I am not getting citizenship, just permanent residency, that allows me to open checking/savings bank accounts, go thru the Mexican citizen line at customs in the airport, apply for their hospitalization plan If wanted, etc., And most importantly I can stay in Mexico 1 day or 1 year or longer with no limit on my stay(s). I went to visit him, and literally met a guy 10 minutes after arriving while we were walking to bar owned by a friend ours there. He does know me best...but has a propensity to exaggerate! A lot! As a side benefit my Brazilian boyfriend is joining me there! Congrats for you are in order. I recently looked into planning on doing this in Brazil, as it had a retirement / pension visa. The monthly income requirements or any kind of annuity or pension were (for me) very low — only $6000R a month! — and the minimum age requirement had been lowered from 60 to 50. And like the one in Mexico, it had perks that you can’t get from a tourist visa — ability to work legally, federal healthcare, permanent residency, come and go as you please and stay as long as you wish, banking options, etc. So, I was planning to do it in a year or so. However, I learned from the Brazilian Consulate that as of Jan. 1, 2018, the Brazilian legislature inexplicably suspended the pension visa. Latbear4blk 1 Quote
Members Riobard Posted July 19, 2019 Members Posted July 19, 2019 Many of the Instagram hunks in my feed this week are using some neck-up aging app to look like baby boomers. Empathy with solidarity, or a send-up? It seems to be done with humourous intent. Maybe something like that would help sneak in the back door. Quote
