But I just finished a great novel called A Ladder to the Sky, by John Boyne. It's about an aspiring young writer who takes advantage of his extreme beauty to endear himself to older authors. He then takes what they have to teach him and then dumps them. Gore Vidal did not so succumb, in an interesting chapter. As he becomes famous, with little talent, he needs to keep finding sources for his writings, but eventually, his looks fade and he drinks a lot. And then he meets young Theo. It's a fascinating novel, ranked 4.5 stars at Amazon, and 5 stars by me. Edited December 30, 2018 by Lucky Quote
