Does anyone really trust the ID cards?

It wouldn't shock me if the police set up a sting giving an underage boy a fake ID card to entrap us.

Yes, you can trust the ID cards. You're perfectly safe if it's the boy's own ID card. I know of no incident, not ever, where a sting such as you describe ever took place.

Would you really put it past them?

Not really. I know of 3 boys who did videos for a very well known gay asian movie company when they were 17 and they used friends ID's.

Make sure the ID is the guy you actually are taking.

A good clue would be if he had to go somewhere to get his ID card, since they are required to have it with them.

I believe entrapment is very legal in Thailand. A few months back a "customer" went into a lady's beer bar and after a drink asked them to play a CD he "just" bought. The bar refused but the man was persistent so they put the CD in to play and were promptly arrested under the copyright law. The bar owner said he cold pay 30,000 baht there on the spot or go to jail. The bar owner and a few other owners went to the Police Station to protest this setup.

The commander at the police station told the protesters that the copyright group had all ready told them earlier that night what was going to be done and he had no objection. They paid bail the next morning and decided to go to trial.

I read this (details are close) in the Pattaya Mail. So I would not be shocked either.

Unless you have evidence to the contrary, yes I would. As I said, I have never heard of the police doing such a thing and you can bet if such an activity was taking place I, and plenty of other people, would have heard about it.

I know people enjoy posting about how corrupt the police can be, and I don't disagree with that, but just making up something that doesn't exist and frightening people with it is not, in my opinion, an appropriate thing to do.

Could it happen? I suppose so. The police could also have someone slip ya ba into your pocket, arrest you on drug charges, and force you to pay a fortune to get out of it. Has such a thing ever happened? Not to my knowledge. Also, to my knowledge, a scam such as you describe has never happened. Not ever.

If you want to accuse the police, or anyone else for that matter, of doing something wrong, at least accuse them of something they have actually done, not something you simply made up.

I'm just saying that as the economic situation gets more fucked up this is the kind of thing that's reasonable to worry about.

If you really think it's reasonable to worry about a problem that has never existed, conjured up solely from your own imagination, then go ahead and worry. Personally, I see nothing reasonable about it at all.

There's enough reality to worry about without having to create things to worry about.

Paraphrased from somebody or other: Change the things you can; forget those you cannot and have the wisdom to know the difference. I am sure someone will know who said it and the actual quote, but it escapes me now.

If you think up all the angles in advance you stay one step ahead of the game.

I don't disagree with that, but I think my brain would be better used thinking up angles and staying one step ahead of a game that they're actually playing.

Ok, I've said my piece about this. Enough about it from me. I'm probably boring the hell out of everyone with this anyhow . . .

I think that there are plenty of guys picking up the underage boys available in various places (including Sunee) knowing they are underage. They don't need a sting when they have an abundance of arrest without a sting.

I don't know any of those that have been arrested that claimed the boy had an ID and was 18. Most of these kids are clearly underdage, and those that have sex with them know that too.

I honestly don't get the underage thing. Enough of the of age Thai boys look underage by American standards that you could easily fuck them and pretend they were younger if that was your thing.
