You know if OZ was an evil troll, he could announce Boy Toy is expanding to review destinations and  websites of interest to gay men.

Maybe OZ could even link to a false front shell site something like this:

He could open up some pages soliciting suggestions for improvements, additional ideas, etc.  I have no doubt the creative folks around here could come up with all sorts of great ideas.

Me first :P

OZ could give a lot of the categories a pretty good kick-start by copy and pasting relevant posts already scattered around the forums.

PS Not that anyone here would characterize our beloved and benevolent OZ  as a troll.

The software is ugly as shit (IMO) but there's a reason why it's the most used forum software out there. Ease of use, reliable functionality, and customer service. Daddy continually likes to play the "sweat" card. As I said, the "sweat" card is his way of making it appear that he's working very hard for your pleasure and donations. It's a feel-sorry-for-me ruse. And some suckers buy into it. I know too much about IT. I never bought into it.

Hopefully is the key word here. Got to figure out a way to squeeze more revenue out of this endeavor since porn ain't cuttin' it.

The idea of expanding the scope of reviews has always been a good one. However, what legit company wants to mix restaurant dining and hotel interiors with the subject of an escort's skill at sucking cock and eating ass? I'm just not seeing the ad dollars here.

Any creative idea is probably too late for Daddy. He's not talented enough to build a site or a marketing plan with pizzazz. He's not a designer. His taste is very low-rent trailer park. To attract younger users (30's and 40's), you need clever and creative design ideas. You don't get that by using the word "mature," and wearing construction clothes on a pot-bellied body.

Daddy has been in a hurry to lose some of his best posters. Deej is hopeless. If the site is to survive, it seems clear that the owner wants to de-emphasize the escort part of it. Just what we need are more city reviews. Oz has already done a great job on that, not that updates aren’t necessary.

But, I am in New York seeing great theater and shopping like a true gay person. Maybe next week I could help...oops, sorry, I will be in Puerto Vallarta.

i am sure Avalon and Marylander can give the guiding hand. But say, if the staff will all be off work, they could join me in PV! Well, not all of them!

Good point. But that usually falls into the category of selling sex, or something taboo for the underage. We call that rebellion marketing.

A pay site was one of my many recommendations to Daddy when he asked me to make suggestions shortly after Hooboy died. He claimed that no one liked that idea. And that's when I knew they were all not very bright. They did not truly know the escort-loving community, and they were not serious about ridding the board of nasty trolls. Deej had so many fake usernames, Daddy would have had to ban him.

Let me be very clear, asking for a membership fee alone would not be the secret sauce to success. You need a man at the helm who knows how to build, manage, and satisfy a community. Daddy never had that talent or expertise. And now, he doesn't have the energy.

Furthermore, the time to institute a fee is when your numbers are at their highest. You don't create a fee-based membership when the numbers are falling, unless your product is made by Adobe.

And who can blame him? His servers are in the U.S. The Trump government is cracking down on porn and escorting under the guise of "sex trafficking." Daddy does not have enough money to pay lawyers for any fight that might appear on his doorstep. It's easy to see how frightened he is of cock photos on the site.

Daddy survived the Rick Munroe betrayal fiasco. I found it fascinating that after all that public (and behind the scenes) mess, Daddy eventually allowed him back with his original username. Just goes to show how Daddy's rules are arbitrary. He clearly has a soft spot (favoritism) for certain troll escorts.

I'm confident the JD Daniels fiasco nearly did Daddy in. It happened post Rentboy when so much attention was on the Feds' interest in escorting. He may never forgive JD and invite him back, but it wouldn't surprise me if he did (or has already). And who's responsible for creating/sustaining EOY (Escort of the Year)?

There's no telling what the future holds for escorting. It seems we have a way to go before anything becomes legal. That said, this forum is much better positioned for the near future. Oz may not be an I.T. guy, but he possesses a much better personality than Daddy. And rumor has it he's better looking, which never hurts. :D

I thought I had posted this over the weekend but I do not see it here - perhaps it got lost in the "ups and downs".... if I actually did post it somewhere (and I am repeating myself), profound apologies...

Guy_Fawkes, after I was banned, came out in support of public executions... (Perhaps I was banned for bringing the Mississippi Senator's position (supported by a certain life form called an Avalon) to the attention of the forum.

I assume that the Board is down so that Mr. Fawkes is able to make a Grand Tour of nations who have the same position as he does on public execution: North Korea, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Iran. I just hope that in consideration of the cost of his air ticket these regimes manage to haul out some poor souls in order to properly entertain he whose name shall not again be repeated here.

(Wow.... and I'm the one who was made to disappear!)

I've been a poster and a reader at that site since 1998 or '99 and read and post here as well.  ...have never met the blog/website owner in person, nor have I really communicated with him via email or by any other tech means.  Personally, I've found both of these sites valuable; ...have never involved myself in any "cat" fights amongst and between the staffers or the other readers/posters, and will miss the site for a month, for there are a few forums that I read and use regularly.

Guess my eyes will get a rest.  Glad that I'll be able to keep abreast of my interests by continuing to come to www.boytoy.com and its forums.

An IP address isn't difficult to change. Just call your ISP and ask them to give you a new one. I was once banned from the "Bidding for Travel" website because the bitch running it was pissed of that I had mentioned in one of my postings that both I and the person traveling with me had bid separately (i.e. he bid after I ran out of bids) on Priceline. There was nothing in Priceline's TOS which states you couldn't do that. I'm sorry if she always travels alone and can't do it herself because she doesn't travel with anyone else. I merely pointed out in one of my postings that there's no reason each person traveling can't do his own bidding. That had me banned for life. So I simply changed my IP address and now I use that site but don't contribute. And when I travel, upon leaving I use the hotel's website to prevent any future guest at that hotel from using that website. Less business for them. Being a bitch (especially a stupid bitch) isn't good for business. 

There's a franchise owner for a Subway near where I work who keeps getting snide with his customers, then wonders why he doesn't have a lot of customers. I don't see how he stays in business, other than people passing through who don't know what a piece of work he is. He has to work there from opening to closing 7 days a week because he can't afford to hire people to take his place. I saw him chew out a customer who asked him if the bread was fresh. Maybe a stupid question, but all he had to do was say yes. "You got a bad attitude," said the customer; I doubt he'll ever come back. I'm not sure why it's more important for Daddy et. al. to show how right they are than to be nice to people. As the song "Master of the House" song from Les Miserables goes, "Doesn't cost you nothing to be nice."

Many folks don't want to bother. And the last thing they want to do is call their internet service provider. It can take longer to get a human on the phone than it can to change the IP.

In fairness, one could say that Daddy came to ownership by way of his relationship with Hooboy. Hooboy was the escort fan. If Hooboy had a will and bequeathed the website to Daddy, Daddy's station in life might not be any different today. It's less amazing when you know the history, but that doesn't mean it makes any sense.
