Guest Astrrro Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 It seems on all the forums some people just love to bash Sunee plaza. But the reality of most of the Sunee beer bars is so much different than what one might think. Memories is a good example. All the boys are 18+ and seem to have a very friendly attitude. It's a very relaxing, no-hassle place to have a drink with owners who seem attentive to their customer's needs. And the prices are quite reasonable too. I also far prefer the atmosphere of the more laid back Sunee to the more glitzy Boyztown. And prices are quite reasonable throughout Sunee. Anyway, I just don't get the undeserved bad rap of an entire area for problems that are equally prevalent in the entire Pattaya-Jomtien area. Quote
Guest MonkeySee Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I do not understand Sunee bad rap, either. I find it much more easy-going and down to earth than the touristy Boyztown. Quote
Guest luvthai Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Nothing goes on in Sunee that doesn't go on in other parts of the world. Its just that Sunee is such a small compact area that nothing escapes the eye. Also just because kids are hanging out doesn't mean they are there to turn tricks. Many live in the area and just hang out. Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 At least in Sunee you don't get bus loads of foreigh touist (mostly Japanese) bused in to see the "gay sights" like you do in Boystown. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Since Sunee is a more expat oriented venue vis a vis Boyztown, that makes it more attractive to me. Hey, I've been here less than a year and I'm already jaded with respect to the tourist scene. Maybe I'm a little jealous cause the tourists have all the money. Quote
fedssocr Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 well, I think it's true that the whole place isn't crawling with little boys being chased by old drooling men 24/7. However, I must say that I have seen some rather shocking things in Sunee that I have never seen anywhere else. So it is not difficult to see how the place comes by its reputation. Those who think there is nothing bad about Sunee must not be looking very hard, because I have not been digging too hard to see the things I have. But I do agree that there are plenty of places that are on the up and up that are perfectly fine businesses. So, as with most things, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 People and places EARN their reputation. Where there is smoke there is fire. Quote
Gaybutton Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 People and places EARN their reputation. Where there is smoke there is fire. I agree. I believe Sunee Plaza earned its reputation years ago, when bars were operating with under-age boys, very under-age boys, with virtual impunity. There were also a lot more under-age freelancers in those days. There is not nearly as much of it going on today, but it does still go on. I think as long as bars continue to employ under-age boys and as long as pedophile arrests continue to occur in Sunee Plaza and vicinity, the reputation has little chance of changing. Quote
