Members Latbear4blk Posted September 20, 2020 Members Posted September 20, 2020 I am considering locations to travel during the Christmas/new year break. Merida is one of them, so a question to @floridaroband @Tomcal. Why you never talk about the beach nearby? I know Floridarb is a gaympire and only goes to the beach to fuck at night, but I am finding very nice beach houses at very nice good prices. Is it too far away from where the Grindr boys and the bars are located? By the way, the colonial houses in Centro, with a pool, are right now priced much lower than Tomcal mentions in this post. If I rent a house in the city, what neighborhood would you recommend the most? Quote
Members Riobard Posted September 20, 2020 Members Posted September 20, 2020 The seedy gay places are not well identified here either! LOL. It’s to each his own digging. Maybe I missed out by bypassing all the home gardening retail centres. Quote
Members Riobard Posted September 20, 2020 Members Posted September 20, 2020 (edited) I am piping in though the question directed not to me. The beach is Progreso. We went once, for lunch, Über there with a stop for a few hours at one of the ruins on the way, and local bus back to central Mérida. Pleasant though a bit of a commitment with the transit. I liked the archaeological site along with its notable cenote the most. I know people from the far northern boreal that live on the beach there (east-ish end?) all winter. It seems idyllic and peaceful. We did not see much evidence of sun-bathing (a warm Jan day) on the beach stretch along the boardwalk parallel to the populous part of town with the higher-end eateries overlooking it. There is a very long pier and there is a cruiseship stop. I think we picked a day without the hordes of port-of-call tourism influx. If you are returning to your accommodations on the coast late at night from Mérida you would be advised to check the otherwise frequent bus service north earlier in day and south later in day. Getting to the beach zone late at night by local transit may be a bigger challenge. I think the sched caters to urbanites working for the townies. I think Progreso could be a good home-base option if you have a small but semi-permanent monogamish bubble harem of luscious bubble-butted guests. There is already much written here about Mérida stay locations. Edited September 20, 2020 by Riobard Quote
floridarob Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 The beach is on the Gulf of Mexico, like Galveston Texas....nothing great, but is a beach...I couldn't live there...is still closed because of Covid. Stay anywhere in Centro, is walkable from most places and ubers are about $1.25usd from anywhere in Centro. On any given night, I have guys over and playing board games, with dares...everyone ends up naked in the pool. Not money guys, but there are plenty of those around....these guys are happy with free liquor . Amazon has been selling New Amsterdam Vodka for 99 pesos $4.69 is a steal, even during the dry law at times here, I have the police coming for bottles from me, lol. I love traveling but many people ask why I live here, and why Tom Bought a house so fast....because it is a puteria here, like no place I've seen before. Lucky and Latbear4blk 1 1 Quote
Members Latbear4blk Posted September 20, 2020 Members Posted September 20, 2020 I was tending towards Centro. Thanks for the tips! Quote
Tomcal Posted September 22, 2020 Author Posted September 22, 2020 (edited) LatBear4blk The beach is 25 minute Uber ride away and nothing much to do there during the week. Probresso is a small tpwn, I think you will much prefer centro Merida. , litterally over a 100*dining places within walking distance and 4 gay bars([re covid) I buoght my house in Centro in Merida alkost 4 years ago and am very happy with it(although i haven/t seen it in 10 mpnths) Edited September 22, 2020 by tomcal Latbear4blk 1 Quote
Members Steveocean456 Posted September 24, 2020 Members Posted September 24, 2020 Hi Merida guys. How are things going in regard to COVID? I’m in Miami where things appear to be improving (positivity and hospitalizations are way down since July). Indoor dining is at 50 per cent but every restaurant is trying outdoor possibilities. Everyone uses masks and most of us have more alcohol slathered on our hands than going down our throats. I wouldn’t hesitate to encourage visitors. Last July I spent an incredible week in Merida. Great architecture and markets. Fantastic Airbnb next to Santa Lucia. Threesomes and more every day. I couldn’t believe how popular I was with the local boys (20 somethings). I had to get viagra for the first time due to the number of guys that would message me on Grindr or just walking outside. I’m tall, decent shape, Caucasian, light eyes, hairy, 50. Never paid for anything. Very good for the self esteem! Is this still a reasonable possibility in these new times? Any updates/advice would be welcome. Hoping to go in November l steve floridarob 1 Quote

Members Latbear4blk Posted October 1, 2020 Members Posted October 1, 2020 I am tempted with spending Christmas and New Year Eve over there. However, I do not want to make a decision without hearing what is going on right now over there. Are the 4 gay bars open, despite the pandemic? What about restaurants and night life in general? Quote
