July 24, 20188 yr It is not uncommon for all Thai boys to become a monk for a period of time to honor their parents. Often, it is a very short period of time but usually a few months. July 24, 20188 yr Active Members They are monks for nine days, representing the nine days they were in captivity. The Christian boy, who was so helpful with translating for the rescuers, will be left out.
