Would you continue to buy Papa John's Pizza after its ex-CEO used the N WORD?

If I stopped dealing with racists, I would starve to death by the road after my car ran out of gas while I was trying to flee their company.

Not to mention," there but for the grace of God..." and all that kind of stuff.

Actually my answer is a bit of a cheat. I never liked his stuff in the first place.

Give me the real stuff, authentic Italian  pie from Pizza Hut every time.

Valid point...But I agree, I never ate that crap and never liked his commercials, so I'm hardly one to consult.,

It was always the worst pizza you could ever order to begin with, so my "no" is only not about their pizza, but also about the racist blood which flows through John H. Schnatter as a human being. So I give it a double topping of NO.

But, but, but what happened to that young cute boy who was looking out for you? I think his name was.....I can't remember now but you know who that was. He wasn't a racist, but he was ensuring that the little things like running out of gas never happened to you. I'll search his name here. Did it not end well?

That poll has a problem, it uses the word “continue”, but I have never bought Papa John’s pizza, so I guess I should click “irrelevant to me?” I hope that doesn’t get interpreted as “his racism is irrelevant to me”.

But guys,  guys, guys, yet another thread on racism? Really?

You must mean Chance.

He took up with Steve Brockman. an English rugby player (pro), dropped out of forestry to move to London to be with Steve,  Some of Steve's mates got him some small acting parts, one thing led to another and now Chance has a successful career in TV and movies. Right now they're living in the New York area while Chance has a big role in "Being Human" and Steve coaches a rugby team.

They just recently announced they were getting married. I'm supposed to escort his great-aunt to the wedding. We're both so very happy for them.

And I'm only a little jealous.

It's all over: The actor, 36, confirmed his split from rugby coach fiancé Steve Brockman in an Instagram chat with fans on Sunday

Chance with Steve. He still has those big ears.

You can follow his acting career under his stage name of Russell Tovey if you're interested. He and Steve are both out. I asked if he was OK with me making this announcement on Boy Toy and he just laughed and said "Why not? " Oh, and he said to be sure and rub Sucky's nose in it. You should have had more faith in him, Sucky.:P

PS Chance says you can find a lot of pictures of him naked on the internet now (Google is your friend) but the ones showing a full monty are shopped.:flowers:

Does the same "rule" apply to my favorite rap stars?

John Schnatter is not just the former CEO, he is Papa John's founder. There is a difference. Any asshole CEO can come and go, without completely destroying a company's reputation. When the founder of his own company fucks up, well then...

Personally, I haven't had much pizza in the U.S. since I began traveling to Italy over thirty years ago. Never tried Papa John's. I was taught in Italy how to make my own (the secret is the starter), so why would I want to eat anything less great than that?

A few young'uns who work for me, who absolutely won't tolerate racism, seem to love Papa John's. I think that has something to do with the price: $1.25 a slice. In NYC, that's considered a give-away. The first time I encountered such pizza, I looked at the kids and I asked, "For $1.25 a slice, do you have any idea what exactly you're putting in your mouth?" For a buck and a quarter, there's no fucking way you have fresh Parmigiano-Reggiano or Mozzarella, San Marzano Pelati Pomodoro, fresh basil,  or Antico Caputo zero-zero farina. No fucking way. They looked at me as if I was speaking Italian.

Hungry people don't give a shit about a racist cook, especially if that's all they can afford to eat.

I should make clear: I don't think just because someone used the N word it automatically qualifies that person as a racist or anti-anything. Context matters.

Everyone is prejudiced.  Some for and some against.

Milton of course had Satan saying the immortal line:

'Hell is myself.'

Are you comparing yourself to either Milton or Satan?  Just curious.  :)  Obviously I knew the line was from the Divine Comedy.

The Paradiso OTOH is utterly flaccid. Just as is Paradise Regained.

The 'good' that comes after the conquest of 'evil' never seems to make very good lit'ratuh (as Robert Penn Warren always pronounced it).

You did not state  to which you were willing to be compared.  I am hoping Milton and not Satan.  However, the choice is yours.  :)

Surprised by Sin: The Reader in Paradise Lost

http://www.hup.harvard.edu/catalog.php?isbn=9780674857476&content=reviews

This book by great lit-crit Stanley Fish makes the point that Milton -- against his own conscious intentions -- writes the character of Satan as the true hero of Paradise Lost. That as he rebels against the Almighty, the Father and Son come off as pompous, arrogant, overbearing, whereas Satan is the questor in search of authentic, autonomous being.

That Milton is not, in heart & mind, the Puritan that his essays self-portray. But rather the forerunner, really, of the Romantic poets.

P.S. Sorry, the correct line is:

Myself am Hell.
