Members Latbear4blk Posted July 9, 2018 Members Posted July 9, 2018 I shared in other thread that I am planning a trip during my Christmas/New year vacation. I do not want to kidnap someone else's thread, so I am starting this one to ask for your wise advise, Boytoy People. I am aware it is not the best time to travel. Please, keep that kind of advise out of the thread. Unfortunately I do not have a choice, I am a high school teacher and I cannot pick the dates when I take a break. This year I can travel between December 22nd and January 5th. Also please consider I am not wealthy, I have to make my decisions according to a very limited budget. I am planning on some location not far away from the States. Te first places that come to my mind are Colombia and Brazil, but I would also like Mexico, Santo Domingo, even Canada. In Brazil, I would love going to Bahia and Rio, not interested in going further South. Where would you go, given my limitations? Quote

Members Latbear4blk Posted July 9, 2018 Author Members Posted July 9, 2018 I am torn between going straight to Salvador vs flying to Recife, going to Salvador by bus, and then returning to Recife to fly back home vs going to Mérida. I stopped researching right now because I am getting the prices in Argentine currency. I will continue once I am back in DC. Quote

One major difference between Salvador and Recife: you can’t go into the water in Recife. Alaskabear and Latbear4blk 2 Quote
Members tassojunior Posted July 10, 2018 Members Posted July 10, 2018 During this period like so many gay men I go to Fort Lauderdale a lot. It's still low season and the hotels are still cheap. From WAS airfares are often $50 each way and it's only 2 hours nonstop. There are many nonstops and several from DCA. From BWI Spirit very often has $20 fares nonstop. I've flown them all pretty much. Several times. In DC FtL is just part of being gay. A rental car is better than Uber and rentals are also cheap. There are 3 gay strip clubs with private rooms totaling over 100 guys between them. There is an over-supply in Miami/FtL on Rentmen as so many working guys like to be there. In FtL Spanish is not as prevalent as in Miami but still very common. If you get a car a 1 or 2 day drive to Key West is a treat with it's many gay clubs including the Bourbon Pub with it's lapdance boys, pool and hotel. KW hotels are not cheap. There are also a wide assortment of small gay beach view hotels in FtL if you like that. I also go to Prague at Christmas to see my guys. It's cold but Europe is amazing at Christmas with it's Christmas markets. Very festive. Alaskabear 1 Quote

If traveling in the US I's rather go to Frisco o Washington State, two areas I have never been to. But I want to travel abroad. Quote

Members wncdemcub Posted July 10, 2018 Members Posted July 10, 2018 How is the sauna scene during this time? When does it die down and then pick back up? Quote
Tomcal Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 i have been in Rio every month during my visits, and the only month i will not go back is July! Brazilians take vacations during july because it is the month that schools are closed, and the middle of Brazilian Winter! The saunas are also slower. Quote
Members Latbear4blk Posted July 10, 2018 Author Members Posted July 10, 2018 I am not thinking only about sex. All the destinations that lure me the most are the ones that do offer sex but also an interesting cultural/nature immersion. I know the Brazil Gaucho, but not the Afro. I would love an immersion in that culture in Salvador. Plus the beaches. I am very curious about experiencing the way Mexicans have integrated their native heritage to their national culture, something completely alien to an Argentinean. Plus the ruins and the beaches. With Colombia I just have some kind of romantic infatuation. Plus the mountains and the beaches. Plus plus plus hot young dark/brown men, all the precise mixes I like the most. I am also thinking this plus for Brazil. When I read the abundant reports on GPs in Rio and São Paulo, many of those super hot boys are actually from Bahia and Recife. If I am traveling the area during holiday times, they all will probably be back home with their families... and working the local saunas. Alaskabear 1 Quote

Members docbr Posted July 11, 2018 Members Posted July 11, 2018 In my experience, Recife and Salvador are hit or miss - at least about saunas. You can find a gorgeous athletic model like stud like the top stars of Lagoa/SP in Salvador or Recife, but in some travels you can find not one boy you like a given weekend (or travel). I would go Rio on your dates if you have the budget. The saunas are almost empty on 23-25 dec and 31-1 Jan (in all cities), make sure to make arrangements with a boy you like if not planning to stay alone in Christmas or New Year's Eve. Quote

Since your visits entail more than sexual liaisons, I'd suggest your visiting Salvador, (Bahia) Brazil, and instead of your doing this travel adventure solo-- engage the services of a superb gay guide who is certified and has his own company. He's on www.tripadvisor.com as well as in google.com; his name is Fernando. I've been to this city in Brasil and like it as well as its surrounding areas, and although Fernando was not my guide, but an amigo of mine engaged his services and was quite, quite pleased. {My now deceased gay travel agent who lived in Rio had me connect with Fernando's mentor.) of whom Fernando has the utmost respect. Fernando and I have been in touch of three occasions via extensive emails.} And, I am with you: "I am not thinking only about sex." Latbear4blk 1 Quote

Members Latbear4blk Posted July 12, 2018 Author Members Posted July 12, 2018 Colombia is indeed amongst the few destinations I will be visiting in the next years. Right now it is the second one in priority for the trip this thread is about. This may change as my research progresses (it will once I am back in DC), bur right now it seems that I will probably go to Salvador. From Salvador I would explore Bahia as much as I can. The second one in chances to be selected is Colombia, the third one is Mexico. I do not think I would go in this trip to RD or Cuba, but you never know. Quote
Members Latbear4blk Posted July 21, 2018 Author Members Posted July 21, 2018 Even if it is not the most affordable, I think I am going for Salvador. Not in stone yet, but the chance is strong. Any suggestions on hotels to stay in the city? I though about Airbnb but for a first time I prefer an hotel. I think. Help please, Quote

There maybe fewer of them than in other parts of the country but I’m sure a black escort can be had there. Quote

Does any of you know anything about them? http://www.thehotel.com.br http://www.realclassicbahiahotel.com.br/pt-br/ http://www.hotelvilavelha.com.br/pt-br/ http://www.villagenovo.com http://www.hotelcatharinaparaguacu.com.br/galeria.asp http://bahiacafehotelsalvador.com I am planning the trip from December 23 to January 2nd (flexible). With any of those hotels my budget for flight tickets and hotel would stay below 2,500. I wish I could find a less expensive way. Or perhaps try a location closer than Bahia. Quote
