Air Asia has a new promotion but you must book by Dec 19th. The paper called the promotion the somewhat racy Get Your Baht To Thailand but the Air Asia website calls it Mai Bhen Rai.

Book now for free flights (taxes and surcharges extra, no free lunch).

Get Your Baht To Thailand

This is especially good for guys who need to do visa runs.

I checked this out. I am planning to go to HCMC for Songkran. Because it is after the promotion it will cost about 8000 baht more, so this is a good deal for anyone wanting to travel before march 31.

Thanks very much for this, I would have missed it.

Three flights BKK-UTH-BKK and CNX-BKK each for Bht230

After you include taxes etc it will cost more than that, but still it is a good deal.

There was even an article in USA Today about these "free" fares and how Thailand is trying to get tourism to rise.

I went to Air Asia where it shows London - Kuala Lumpur. When I tried to book I could not get a seat anytime in January or beginning of Feb. I do't know if there is a glitch in there system or if they really are filled.

I also tried to book Bangkok to Yangoon and got a really good fare I thought of only 4000 baht.

Air Asia's KL/London service does not start until March. At the advertised one way fare of 99 pounds (approx. US$154), it certainly seems a good bargain, but after checking a few dates on the Air Asia website, the cheapest fares I can find are between 170 and 220 pounds. This makes the 30-seat business class seem very reasonable at 451 pounds each way. The service will be 5 times a week on Airbus A340 aircraft.

This is separate promotion from the 99 pounds from London to KL. Those 99 quid (that's the same as a pound, right?) seats got snapped up in a day.

This promotion lasts until tomorrow but seats are going fast. I booked one flight even though I'm not sure I can go but figured it was worth 200 baht to have the option.

I tried yesterday to book tickets to Chiang Mai on several dates in February/March, but obviously was too late for the free promotion. Checked also with Nok Air whose tickets are cheaper than those remaining for sale on the Air Asia website.

Although there may be no 230 baht seats (0 fare + 230 tax) seats from BKK to Chiang Mai there are plenty 0/230 seats from Chiang Mai to BKK.

So you can fly up on Nok Air and return on Air Asia. :D

But there's only 6 hours left to book.

Even if you're not sure that you're going it might make sense to book a one way since the downside is only 230 baht.
