That was last Thursday, and I needed a full day to recover physically, that is how exhausted he left me. I devoted that day, Friday, to catch up on some writing.

On Friday night we were supposed to mee with a group of members of the Argentinean forums. We chose a gay bar downtown Buenos Aires, the Flux Bar. The location is pretty good, just one block away from Avenida Santa Fe and half from Avenida 9 de Julio. It is a basement and, despite the smell (I am very smells sensitive and the place stunk like humidity), I found it very much enjoyable. Our appointment was at 10 PM (22 for the locals). The crowd was very diverse with predominance of males in their 20s and 30s. The atmosphere was quite similar to a typical lounge bar from Manhattan East Village, very friendly and casual. The bar is owned, I read, by two American expatriates, and up to my knowledge the only gay establishment opening at 7PM. For the local culture, that is extremely early. We stayed in the place up to midnight. When we arrived at 10 it was full, unusual for Buenos Aires. When we left at 12 it was getting crowded but not much. A bourbon and coke was $AR 140. The exchange today is U$S 1 = $AR 27.95. They did not accept my CCs, I had to pay with cash.

"We" were only two people. About 11 people expressed interest in attending, 3 sent messages letting me know they would not be able to show up, the rest just did not come. It was nice getting to know the other gentleman. He is 65 years old and with some serious health issues that limit his mobility and life. He has not had sex in many years, and channels his libido through writing. When we left it was too early to get into a disco, so I just went home to sleep. Yesterday Saturday my mother arrived from Corrientes so I devoted the day to her. I am upset at me for losing last night, I gad a couple of recommendations to go to the theater but forgot to make reservations, it is my last week end and probably will miss the chance to enjoy a play. Buenos Aires' theater scene is premium quality.

After Galo rescheduled, I tried to get something from the room up apps, inspired by @msclelovr's success stories but I failed. I only got a very hot Black Venezuelan who was looking for clients in Scruff. He did not have a place and quoted me $AR 2,000. I did not want to pay a price so much above the local market average, even if it is cheap compared to the USA. Here you have two of his pictures:

Today I am planning on meeting Galo (the boy I linked above), at his place, $AR 1,400. Tomorrow Monday I will probably meet Fabricio: https://rent.men/Randisan. He charges $AR 1,200 and has no place, he is recommending a "telo" (local slang for "albergue transitorio", the hotels regulated with the only purpose of sexual encounters), so meeting him would be my first experience in this kind of place.

Carlos Aleman has some final exams tomorrow and we are discussing our second meting for Tuesday. He has still not made a decision about allowing me to take pictures and film, but I am still hopeful.

Today I went for my third escort and this time it was a disappointment. He did not do anything wrong, really, we were just not a match. I stopped it when he was giving me head and I decided that I was not going to continue just because I was there. I paid half of the fee ($AR 700) and left. I have a strict policy about poor experiences. I think I cannot judge a professional just because I did not enjoy the meeting, so I am not going to identify him. I was in Argentina 4 years ago I checked and the huge sauna is A Full sauna. It's two or three blocks south of that park. A lot of customers, a few very hot (which sounds so much better than "very few hot", ah syntax). The small sex club may not have been a sauna......it may have been a video booth club. It could have been Tom's since that was close to my hotel. I just rememember it was mostly modern and burnt orange inside although small, had good-looking young guys as if it were an "in spot".

So nice to have someone "on the ground" in a place to report live.

update: I checked and the small hip sex club with video cabins was Zoom on Santa Fe. Tom's is almost identical but is back on Viamonte in the microcenter. A Full is the huge old bathouse that's so popular. Zoom is next to the university and is a sex club mostly for students there. Super good lookers, but a tough house for over-30's. Admission is like $5. Tom's is same owner and just as high tech but mostly lunchtime and 5pm businessmen. A Full is everyone and their cousin in Buenos Aires. Many more guys so just as many hot ones, if not more. No one's going to rave about the decor at A Full. Didn't try the masseurs. I know A Full closes about 8 or 9 pm. Not sure on the other two but pretty sure they stay open later.

Thank you @tassojunior for contributing to the thread with useful information. I am not into the sauna scene or into shopping, and am not planning to explore that, your posts are an useful addition.

Last night my dinner finished at 1AM, so I did an attempt to go to Contramano, understanding Sundays was their Bears Night. It was a disappointment, the "boliche" (Argentine Spanish word for night club or disco) was closed. I just checked their website, and found out they have radically changed their schedule. They used to open Wednesday to Sunday, now they are open only Friday and Saturday. Anyway, based on the pictures they have in the site, I doubt I would have found anyone attractive to me.

Perhaps next year I will be able to explore Buenos Aires' night. Just one week here is not enough, I have many friends and relatives to meet and no much time for exploring. 

It does look like street cruising is still alive. A few times I walked a few blocks in Avenida Santa Fe and saw guys clearly cruising, I wonder what would happen should I have a couple of hours to hang out over there. Last night and Friday night I walked a few blocks pretty late and even when I saw guys cruising, I would say the atmosphere is not as friendly as it used to be. The stores used to leave their windows open and lighten up showing their offerings. Many of them (I would say most of them between Callao and 9 de Julio) now close the windows with metallic blinds, making the sidewalks sadder and darker. 

Being here only for one week and one week end did not give me the chance to check the theater scene. I did have a few recommendations (Terrenal, by Mauricio Kartún, and Todo Piola, de Mariano Blatt). If you are in Buenos Aires and want to see good acting and directing, I strongly advise you to give a try to any of those. The people who recommended them are former colleagues from my acting times and I have the upmost respect for their opinion. I can also recommend "Tarascones", by Gonzalo de María, a comedy written in verse with rhyme. I attended a show 2 yeas ago and I am glad to see it is still playing, although in a different location. I cannot recommend this one: Cruising 2, by Juian Arenas, because I have no references, but I was curious about it. Julián Arenas also directed and acted in "Me Imagino Que Vendrás Acompañado", a gay theme comedy played for many years. I recently discovered the web series he created based on it, and loved it. I am not sure the play would be good, but I am confident that at least it would be an interesting window to the local gay culture.

This afternoon I am meeting Fabricio, he does not have a pace, so it will be my first experience in a "telo". Tomorrow Carlos already confirmed we will have our second meeting, I do not know yet whether it will include a session of pictures or will be just playing.

A side note, I love to be able to read the narratives in Rentmen reviews without using a VPN software. Here in Argentina the locals can post prices and they are called "escorts" without the "porn stars" American euphemism.

No, "taxi boys" is the local slang for male prostitutes. Absolutely nothing to do with taxis cabs or taxi drivers, other than they also charge you by time.

Yesterday I met my fourth "taxi boy" in Buenos Aires, and had my first experiece in a "telo". I do not say my fourth Argentine boy, because only one of the fourth was actually from here. The one I did not like.

Buenos Aires is changing a lot. In my times the only significant source of local immigrants were Paraguay and Bolivia, mostly manual workers, and Taiwan was starting to have some relevance. The city is now flooded with middle class professionals from Venezuela, and middle class college students from Venezuela, Colombia, and Perú. Most of the hits I got in Grindr and Scruff were from Chavez; exodus. There is a new brand of business in the urban landscape: the "barberías" (barber shops) that replaced the old "peluquerías", places where young men gather to get their beard fixed, listen to music and hung up, owned mostly by Dominican immigrants.

The boy I met yesterday, Fabricio, is from Perú. We met in a "telo". Here you have some pictures of the establishment:

I had to pay with cash because both of my CCs (yes, I only have two, you CC overloaded Americans)n were rejected by their system. Strange, I never had a problem before.

Fabricio was great, and a very unusual meeting for me. I am not a talker, I want to fuck. We chatted tirelessly with this boy, he is so interesting. A mix of native Amazonian Indian, Black, Spanish, and Japanese. He is a middle class Peruvian from the Amazonian jungle area. He consumes ayahuasca regularly. I was fascinated with his knowledge and passion for his culture. I paid him for 1 hour ($AR 1,200, I gave him 1,300), we hang out from 19:30 to midnight. We first chat for about one hour, then fucked for about 40 minutes, and then we went on talking. I invited him to have diner in a nearby restaurant before saying goodbye.  He is an outstanding bottom, but not really into kissing. A full and detail report will follow when I have time.

Right now I am writing this in a rush before getting in the shower. I am meeting with Carlos at noon. He finally decided that is not going to do the pics and video session I was offering him. So...

As I shared above, when we went with Randisan to the "telo", both of my CCs were rejected and I ended paying cash. 

Well, today I arrived back home and found a message from the Anti Fraud division of my Visa. That hotel tried to charge U$S 150,000. Yes, it is not a typo.

I am wondering, are they very, very stupid scammers, or that old clerk did not know how to use the CC reader and unintentionally tried to charge that amount.

Whatever it is, perhaps it is a good idea not to pay with your CC in a "telo" in Buenos Aires.

P.S. I am so stone that I wrote a half in Spanish post, I just realized it and fixed it. I think.

When I was last there on a long visit several years ago, crime had escalated and spread into good areas. Women were having their handbags snatched in broad daylight in the exclusive zone of Avenida Alvear; there were muggings at knife-point in Recoleta during the day (I saw two); and there were armed robberies at night of apartments in very good areas (I know of 2 families robbed in this way). Couples and families were even going out to dinner earlier to avoid problems later. At that time, I was advised never to take public transport as pickpocketing was rife on the 'subte' or metro.

I appreciate that you do not stand out from locals and you speak the language, but I wonder how you think foreign visitors would fare currently.

Going from DC to Buenos Aires, I definitely feel safer over there. Yess, pity crime may be more prevalent than in DC, not sure of that, but violent crime is way lower in the areas I move around. 

Just take the regular precautions you would in any city you do not know. Stay in the avenues, away from dar areas, away from high poverty areas. Pity crime is a certain risk.

Locals tend to over estimate insecurity. I wonder if your impression comes from Kirchner times. Media in Argentina is monopolized by a couple of groups, both anti K. As part of their campaign against the administration they would publish pity crime news in the covers with huge headlines every day.
