I know the Jesuits well. Several are dear friends. Still, I wouldn't want the Jesuits running an internet forum where the subject of the forum is escorts.

I am not very fond of fundamentalisms. In this kind of community, I think the general expectation should be that the mods should not edit content, and in editing content I include splitting threads. However, I think there are circumstances that may allow or even ask for the mods' intervention.

The general expectation should be that the OP sets the topic and we all respect that frame. However, a thread may naturally flow through an array of subjects without violating the OP's intention.

And we could continue listing how each one of the rules in the forum should be ignored or twisted to actually respect the very spirit of the rule that we are violating. It reminds me to my recent time out from Daddy's.

So my point is I agree with @AdamSmith, it is extremely important to respect the content, but I disagree when he poses it as a fundamental, I would say sacred (holy is a little bit too much, but just a little tiny bit) principle. To me, everything depends on the circumstances.

So rather than discussing whether or not threads should be split, I would debate whether or not @TotallyOz made the right decision by splitting this specific thread in this specific circumstances.

IMHO, we ask people to stay on topic. It is easy to do.  If people have posts that take a topic off course, it makes it harder to find the content they are looking for.  For example, if Tomcal posts about Mexican and Brazilian Boys differences and half way though the subject changes to Thai boys and how great they are and the rest of that thread talks about Thai boys, does it not seem reasonable to move the posts that are off topic to a separate thread and let the conversation continue?

IMHO, The beauty of these forums has always been left to the people who populate them. Someone (?) suggested heavier moderation, and quite honestly Oz,  I think your sandbox moderation is perfectly tuned to where it should be.  

Splitting threads because they get sidetracked is one of the worst things you could ever do, especially with such a low population of forum contributors. 

 Splitting threads is like splitting hairs. They’ll ( the latter) always be the best conversations which occur in forum participation; unless the OP Personally objects to the direction of his/her thread...just let it be what it becomes. 

 I personally don’t believe that you want what you’re suggesting here nor do I believe you’re the type of person to suppress or deviate from personal expressions. 

 If you’re suddenly  going to become heavy-handed in moderating people’s thoughts about other people‘s posts then I wish you well. 

It’s a mistake.

I love every pedantic. There's something refreshing, stimulating and interesting about their knowledge and personality. If threads are going to be split here ( I'm trying my best here) I believe many here, (ok, only one here really) will suffer more than most.

Well, I have been splitting topics since 2006. I normally just message the poster and say it was off topic but I liked the idea and started a new topic with his post. That has always worked well.

That said, all must remember that in a topic about my trip to Thailand, to then change to the topic of boys in Brazil and stay on the Brazil subject makes it difficult for others to follow and also frustrating to the original poster.  Who is going to go to the Asia forum to find info about Brazil boys? (other than FloridaRob who likes both).

Members create content.  It is truly, greatly appreciated. Rarely, if ever do we put things in the Sandbox.  Ever rarer to ban a user.  We are pretty fucking lenient. But, that does not mean this is the wild west where anything goes. I see the value in a well run board and honestly, I do a piss poor job at moderating as I do not believe 99% of posts need moderating. However, there are always exceptions to the rule.

Once in Brazil, I was in the cafe Coriginas (sp) and talking to a group about how stupid it would be for anyone to take a boy from the streets. Insanity, I called it. I stuck to my point and we had a great conversation as I only hired guys from the saunas. Then, across the street came this beautiful lad that caught my eye as he was walking across the street.  I got up, walked over to say hi to him, chatted for less than 3 minutes and asked him to go to my hotel with me.  I then returned to my table and my friends whom I had just argued with, looked at me and I said, "there are always exceptions to any rule."  The guy, Richard, stayed with me for weeks on that trip and future trips and attended at least 2 carnivals with me and at least 100 3-ways.  I had a great time with him. But, had I been so rigid that the rule was inflexible, I would not have fucked one of the sweetest asses I ever laid my hands on. 

Moral to the story: Sweet asses can be found in the most unusual of places. Or, boytoy is very lenient in 99% of posts but very firm in not deleting or banning members unless they are the one sweet boy that crosses the road and an exception must be made.  See how I framed both about the boy?

I have three posts which haven't posted here in response to this post  My best humor has been lost. LOL but really.

So once I tagged Adam above I could not do anything to include anyone else, which this song was meant for.  It’s meant for you all. Once I tag someone, I’m locked from furthering anything else. Basically, If you tag someone, you’re trapped in that tag. It happens on all my devices, mobile, iPad, iPhone and laptop. I couldn’t be the only one.
