Hey , I lived for a year in Mexico City (2016), Zona Rosa is the main spot for gay nightlife, but there are some nice bars/antros around the city - there was nice bar close to my apartment in Polanco - called Envy - but a bit too snobbish for my taste.

If you want to stay right in the heart of gay nightlife stay on Calle Amberes. Several clubs that go all night and a lot of people out on the street--especially on weekends. I have stayed at the boutique hotel Room Mate Valentina --reasonably priced and right in the middle of the action. Never had a problem with guests. There is a small strip club right next door called BB club with mostly very hot guys from Mexico and Colombia. They will do a private dance in a small booth with you for a fee and you can arrange to meet them later if you like(most are open to this). Mexico City is an amazing city with great food, art, architecture and a very open and vibrant gay scene. It is one of my favorite cities to visit. Enjoy!

BB show bar-- 150 pesos to get in (one free drink coupon).  A few topless guys sit around trying to make eye contact with customers.  There is one guy i like and loooked a couple times.  He approached me immediately and started flirting, showing off penis..etc.  he first asked 1500, then quickly come down to 500 pesos for 25 minute private time in the tiny back cabin. He said he will do anything, i said I just want to see you masterbat yourself and see your leche come out.  He said ok.  He has a lot of leche. Demand money upfront before  everything starts.  But 20 minutes into the program he is still rubbing his cock and ask me to put on condom on him so he can fuck me.  I suppose their standard routine is for the boy to penetrate the customer for a few minutes and that's all.  At the end I called if off althought I have pay 500 pesos, but the promise was not delivered.  The whole thing feel cheap and scamming.  The boy didn't give me what we have agreed for the pricehe speak English and we used Google translate a few times there is no misunderstanding.

I once visited a bar in Mexico City called El Taller. They had strippers dancing nude with erections, and it was very hot. But the crowd seemed a bit cold. Finally I went to the dark backroom, which was quite crowded. Suddenly I was quite popular. I've never had so many guys showing sexual interest in me before or after this visit. When I returned to the main bar, I was once again invisible as no one looked at me. This was a once in a lifetime experience. I certainly know it wouldn't happen today.

Tight jeans and boots, esp. worn over the jeans, make one much more desirable. I’d love to bring that look when traveling, but I always carry on and some of my boots are 18” high and have steel shanks.

Just adding some color to the suggestions here.  I find the Mexico City gay bars to be one of the best in the world (at least with what I like in a bar), and there are a shit-ton of gays in the city. And there will be no shortage of (free) hotties who will want to go with you to the bars, and to even the gay strip clubs.

I agree that Zona Rosa would be the default place to stay and enjoy the bar scene (and possibly the safest place to be at night), but by no means the only place to spend time in at night. The Centro (downtown) area also has fairly decent and sometimes superior clubs and bars (although less safe), and there are other bars scattered in the Roma Norte and Sur and Polanco areas.I never had any problems staying in hotels near or in Zone Rosa and having a rotating stable of boys visiting me.

CDMX is one of my fave cities to stay a long weekend at. Pretty dynamic (culturally, ambience, food etc etc etc) and there seemingly are thousands of gays that descend upon the city in the weekend. Overall lots of fun.

México City has been great for my sex life and self esteem. I’m tall, 220, ddf, masculine, hairy, green eyes, 44. Not an Adonis by any means. I only used Grindr the times I’ve been there. I usually stay at the Sheraton Maria Isabel. My profile only has detailed stats and my chest picture. I never show face. Grindr has only successful been for me in México City, no where else. Their go go boys are completely naked and have erection or semi-erection most of the time.  BUT, the facial expression is cold and unfriendly, never any smile and they don't even pretend to be happy there on their face.  I suppose it's the culture with Mexican gogo boys, you rarely see them smile.  And, there is not much interaction between the gogo boys and customers other than occasionally one customer slip a bill into their socks. The last time I was there in March, there were some Chinese tourists both males and females, they looked at the gogoboys with blank faces as if they were in a zoo watching alien animals and they took pictures...it was a very strange vibe. 

As far as the dark room for the customers, yes it is fairly active, but all customers there are fully clothed, and mostly mid age or older and not in good shape. 

I am a frequent visitors to Brazil, so I have to compare everything with Brazil, and of course Brazil wins.

Botas Bar (Niza, 45) closed a few weeks ago. Hard to say if it will re-emerge as another stripper club incarnation. This area of Juarez is " hopping" and all the streets were dug up and redone last year, as they were as well in Zona Rosa. Perhaps the adjacent parking lot and environs is slated for development. I myself stayed in a new large condo bldg nearby.

I am still quite new to Mexico's bar scene.  At several bars on my last trip, the bartenders won't sell drinks to me.   I didn't understand wha he said.   With some searching on Google, I realized many bars/clubs in Mexico require customers to order drinks from "Servers/Waiters".   And you are required to pay them tips.   My question is, how exactly does this work?   Do you wave to the server and tell him/her you want a Heineken?  when the beer arrives you pay the server for the drink plus tip? How much tip do people usually pay? 10%?   If a beer is 35 pesos, you tip 5 pesos?  too little? embarrassing?

Mexico is one of the few places I have been where waiters and bartenders generally acknowledge tips with a "Gracias" which seems to be sincere. In the US--leaving a dollar on the bar after buying a beer is rarely even met with eye contact--much less a thank you. I think that many of the waiters in Mexico are working only for tips and nothing else. I have tipped 10 pesos after a beer(50cents) and always received a thank you. Keep in mind in that for example Tijuana working as a cashier at 7/11 10 hours a day for 6 days a week pays under a dollar an hour!

Dear all, I am reporting live from the gayly proud city of CDMX.  I arrived in CDMX today for the pride weekend.  Many taxis and Ubers put rainbow stickers on windshields, it's such a heart warming gesture, St. Rigis' hotel has rainbow color light up the building front, they don't mind I am gay, so I cried and cried.  Zona Rosa is still packed as usual. Hot gogo's inside bars dancing sweats off, cute and horny Latinos hanging outside and form a street party till the sun goes up, all slim toned smooth shining bodies eager, horny and willing to meet new guys..Club hosts all speak English and are super friendly to me.  I am happy now, so you should be happy too.

I was at gay pride as well in Mexico City--a huge crowd for the parade route running miles up Ave Reforma and ending in the Zocolo with a music festival right in front of the historic cathedral. The Zona Roza was packed and grindr was super busy with all kinds of paid and free encounters out there. A great time as always for pride weekend there--but not for those who are shy about crowds as they seem to have no capacity limits in clubs!

Hey guys, I’m heading to México City again in two weeks for a quick business trip. 

1. I’ll be staying again at the Sheraton Maria Isabela ($110) but wouldn’t mind trying another place in the future. Any ideas? Zone Rosa and the bars etc aren’t my scene  so I’m open to other areas that could also produce good results on Grindr. I like big comfortable places where I can be very discreet in bringing guys up to my room without checking them in, etc. Maria isabela is huge and lots of folks are always coming in and out. I usually met them in the lobby. Any other reasonable hotels?

2. Grindr has been great for me in CDMX! It always amazes me how quickly I get responses in México. Very few of the guys I choose (younger European looking) ever flake out and show up fast! It's true, that was actually my favorite show bar in CDMX.  The guys were hot and the wait staff friendly.  Now the guys were usually straight and just gay for pay but, I just liked to relax with my date while drinking Jack and Cokes.  They have a new place though the quality of guys was not as good on my last visit.

I just returned from a week in CDMX and I can say that my earlier reports regarding the demise of Botas Bar were not entirely accurate.  It seems that the bar has moved/split up.  With the above mentioned Enigma and another bar that I just visited called BarBotas Bar.  The guys are definitely hot unfortunately, taking one home is just as difficult as the original Botas Bar.  Your best bet is to go private and arrange for a meeting later in the day.  Pertinent pictures of both establishments, as well as a few personnel ones from my trip, follow:
