Guest lvdkeyes Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 This is the first posting I have seen about this show. Are tickets still available? Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Is there some good reason why the Pattaya Players notices are not posted here? Quote

Guest PattayaPlayers Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 MMMMMMMMM Sorry about that, but I was respecting the earlier wishes of Gaybutton. During our Murder Mystery Show, Gaybutton made it a point to say he thought I posted too many announcements pertaining to our productions on this board. Therefore, this time around I just posted one and I guess it must have dropped to later pages quickly. I also stopped posting announcements on Sawatdee and Baht Stop altogether as the responses I was getting were rather insulting. In the future, you may want to check out http://pattayapassion.19.forumer.com or http://www.gaytingtong.com as they do not seem to mind having me post multiple reminders and even "sticky" the posts occasionally. Also, The Pattaya Mail always prints our announcements online as well as in their newspaper and TV programs. Thanks for your continued support. Quote

Well, you don't have to go to the opposite extreme either. I would suggest at least posting a reminder when it's getting close to show time and tickets go on sale. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I, personally, don't mind seeing multiple posts regarding upcoming events. I do tend to forget at times as I am sure others do. Quote

I would suggest at least posting a reminder when it's getting close to show time and tickets go on sale. Look, this is a no-win situation. I will post the original PR and artwork and if you (as a moderator) wish to bump it and/or sticky it, that is up to you. Quite frankly, I just don't have time to figure out what the "magic number" of posts is on each board and what satisfies the powers-at-be at each place. The Pattaya Players do have an email list for upcoming announcements and if you are interested in being added, just send an email to pattayaplayers@gmail.com. LVDKeyes -- I have already added you to this list! Thanks. Quote

Gaybutton Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 If you want a "magic number" then I would suggest four. One announcement on the same day you make your initial announcement on all the web sites. Two reminders along the way. One more announcement about a week before the production. Quote

Gaybutton Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 WOW!!! Talk about control issues. That's not true at all. Nothing personal, but I really get annoyed when people accuse me of being some sort of a control freak when the only time I ever control anything is when people come here and start posting in violation of the rules or when a thread starts getting out of hand, which as a moderator is exactly what I'm supposed to do. I already posted on this thread that nothing from our end prevents him from posting, did I not? He can post as often as he wishes and he knows it. I made a suggestion. It's his choice whether or not to go by that suggestion. I've never told him he can't post as many times as he wants or set any kind of limitation at all. What I did tell him was that the number of posts was annoying people, and it was. I received numerous complaints about it and I advised him, not demanded, that he cut down on the number of posts, which he did. I think four posts about it would do the trick. It would be enough so that people will know, but not so many that people would have room to complain. If you have a better suggestion, make it. If he prefers to follow your advice, fine with me. I suggest the people who have complaints about the number of postings of any particular issue just simply do not read it. It's like people who complain about any given TV show. Just change the channel. Quote

Guest fountainhall Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 This is definitely a no-win situation. Keep the discussion going and you will end up with everything from no posts to a dozen. As lvdkeyes says, no-one has to read them - but I do think moderation will have more success for posters than saturation. Quote
