Guest MonkeySee Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 I am often up and about in the early morning hours. I find it interesting to see many Thais all bundled up, as if it were cold, when the temperature is only about 70 degree Fahrenheit. I love this cool weather, but I guess many Thais find these winter temperatures very chilly. No wonder many Thai boys do not like living in western countries with the frigid temperatures. Quote
mahjongguy Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Many Thais don't have hot water so they can't shower in the morning. Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 I was in the main branch of Bangkok Bank in Ubon this moring at about 10:00, and everyone had on jackets, long sleeve shirts, and long pants. Most of the staff had sweaters on. I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt after having ridden in on a motorbike taxi...whose driver also had on a jacket. It has been really cool here the last week, without need for any airconditioning. My power bill should be much less this month!! Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Here in Pattaya my bf was wearing a jacket and stocking cap (beanie) inside the condo today with all the ceiling fans turned off and the balcony doors closed. Quote
Guest rainwalker Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 I had 2 Thai friends from Bangkok come to see me in Chiang Mai on Friday and, naturally, they were expecting weather just as they are used to having in the big city. Surprise!! After listening to them discuss how cold it was for the 100th time, I reminded of how much fun they had at "Hima House", the giant refrigerator that is officially called Snow Town? (Snow Land?) at Dream World, the amusement park past Don Muang Airport and it dawned on them that "sanook" can be had, regardless of the temperature. They both bought jackets at the Night Market, however... (These pictures are from Richard Barrow's Blog, a fine fine resource.) Quote

Gaybutton Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I saw the other day a lady in a jacket and hat, but in shorts and flip-flops. It just struck me funny. I've even seen people wearing parkas, as if they're getting ready to visit Nanook of the North. Maybe some will have heaters and fireplaces installed in their homes. This year has been the coolest winter I've experienced in Thailand. I think it's great! Cloudless skies (and the reservoir has plenty of water thanks to all the raid we had only weeks ago), cool breezes, no need for air conditioning, low humidity, and temperatures so "just right" that Goldilocks would be happy at the beach. May it continue! Quote

Once in San Francisco, I saw a guy wearing a beanie, earmuffs, gloves and shorts, but no jacket. He had his t shirt hanging from his back pocket. He wasn't one of those street people; a good looking guy with a great body. His nipples were standing at attention. LOL LOL Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 My Boyfriend and I went to dinner at a Thia Restaruant in NE Ubon on Friday evening about 6:30. We ate at an outside table and and a nice dinner. For the very first time in Thialand after being here about two years, I was COLD! Never before in Thailand. The wind was blowing, and it got really cool while we ate dinner. By the way, dinner of Cashew Chicken, Vegetable, Fried Rice w/Shrimp, and Tom Yum all served on good size platters, with coke, soda, and a pint of whiskey was a total of 720 baht! Quote
