Gaybutton Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 If you need to follow the special announcements issued by Thai Airways, you can do so at the following link: http://www.thaiairways.com/Homepage/announ...a_situation.htm Quote
Guest jsvan44 Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 THAI Airways performance in this situation has been very poor in my experience. They have not been available to provide any information....phone line is on permament hold or busy signal... they had no representatives at the airport on the first day...their city ticket office is a mob scene. I'm very disappointed in the way the "government", police and THAI have dealt with this situation. Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 THAI Airways performance in this situation has been very poor in my experience. I agree that Thai air has not acted responsibly. As airlines go, Thai has the biggest stake in this conflict, and has done a very poor job of handling the situation. As noted above, their reservation number says "Line is now busy. Try again later." That has been continuous for three days. Another interest of mine is what happens to those of us who hold tickets for flights that are canceled. I purchased mine with a credit card, so worse comes to worse, I can cancel the charge that way. My guess is that the paperwork won't be cleared up for months. Quote
Guest topjohn5 Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 I have a friend flying to me on Thai Airways but other than these notices which I found before I couldn't even find a statement that they would refund the canceled flights! Even Bangkok Air has better info on it's website and not buried info like at the Thai Air web site....... Does anyone know what Thai Air's policy is for refunds and what flights are they refunding and if they are allowing people to rebook onto alternative connections??? How far in advance are they stating that a flight is cancelled??? Quote

How far in advance are they stating that a flight is cancelled??? I can't really answer those questions, but I can tell you that I have a ticket on a flight from Ubon Ratchathani to Don Muang on Tuesday morning at 0600. Now, it is pretty clear that the airport isn't going to be up and running by then...will probably still be demonstrations...but I have received no E-mail notification of cancellation, etc. This is an e-ticket, and they emailed it to me so they have my e-mail if they ever decide to notify me. I just logged on to Thai, and tried to book the same flight to see what's happening. They say Flights not available 30th, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, but do show that they are still booking flights for Dec 4 from Ubon to Bangkok. The first flight they show booking for LAX out of BKK in Friday, Dec 5. (52,560 baht for economy!!) I can find no information on cancelled flights, refunds, etc. Quote
PattayaMale Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 To confuse us even more, there is an announcement that people can check in for Thai Air at BITEC until Dec. 2. Check in for what?? http://www.nationmultimedia.com/breakingne...newsid=30089807 Quote
Gaybutton Posted November 30, 2008 Author Posted November 30, 2008 Apparently the same people who handled the situation in New Orleans after the hurricane found new jobs in Thailand . . . Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 THAI Airways performance in this situation has been very poor in my experience. Although I am not directly involved - yet - in deciding who I fly with I give huge weight to how airlines handle schedule disruption. From what I have been reading and from checking websites, THAI is coming out of this disastrously. Look at THAI's homepage and you will find just a tiny paragraph placed well under sections on "Royal Orchid Plus Holidays", "Weekly Travel Feature" and "Promotions". Click on it and you get a notice that all flights are suspended along with a hotline to learn more! Then try getting through to that hotline number!! With the vast majority of the stranded passengers flying out on THAI, the airline has done a great deal of damage to its image by not responding with timely, accurate information. Cathay Pacific, on the other hand, has a special banner heading on its website homepage followed by a lot of information about their charter flights in to U-Tapao - even reminding passengers that "facilities at U-tapao Airport, a military airstrip, are severely limited." It has also posted all the information passengers need about rebooking/rerouting, together with advice that any such charges will be waived for all fare types for tickets issued prior to November 25. They do refund your money but it takes a couple of months to credit your credit card account. Quote
