Members sanddunes
I’ve come to find I actually like the “slower” days at saunas. Although there are fewer garotos, they tend to have a lot more time to relax and hang out with you - as opposed to frantically trying to pick up client after client. Tonight, Guillherme proudly shows off his new Samsung Galaxy that costs over 3,200 reals. One of his well-heeled Paulista clients bought it for him as a gift. He explains that the Paulistas are far more generous than any other Brazilians and foreigners. Landing a regular wealthy Paulista is a goal for most of the garotos. He seems over-the-moon excited, and I am happy for him - regardless of whether his old phone was stolen or not. I start talking to a guy named Wesley, who is a tall, lean, moreno. He has a handsome face, but doesn’t particularly stand out as being one of the “elite” Lagoa boys. He insists on 200 reals for a programa, and that he only works in suites. If I want goza, that will be 250. He also isn’t willing to show his dick ahead of time. I havn’t seen him working at all tonight, so I am somewhat puzzled why he thinks he is able to command a premium double what others are offering (if he is, more power to him). I make a mental note to find out more about him from my garoto friends... brockmiller and floridarob
Members sanddunes
All the garotos agree: Wesley has become insufferably arrogant lately. He only worked at the saunas one month when a bigwig tv executive at Globo became enamored with him. One of the garotos jokes he must have a magic pussy to trap someone so fast. There is talk about him becoming “exclusive” with this client. What does that mean, exactly? In exchange for not working at the saunas, he would be given a monthly salary of between 8,000 to 12,000 reals, in addition to presents and travel. So they would be like boyfriends, I ask? No, not at all. The globo exec is married. It only means the boy would have no clients other than him - and the boy is free to sleep with whomever he wants, so long as he does so discreetly and not for pay. On top of it all, the executive is paying for acting lessons, and has promised to get Wesley an audition for a telenovela at the network. Wesley is sure now that he is destined to be a star - and has already begun to act like one. As it turns out, fucking your way to the top is still a viable career path.. brockmiller

Members Gotti
By the way, the aspiring actor Sandunes mentioned on his post probably won't go anywhere, soap-stars have their past scrutinized by the media, if he has done Lagoa, even for just a month, this will come up, and a sex work past is a major no-no in the acting business, a gay sex work, no less, forget about it. That's why the pretty boys from Rio (Brazil's quintessential TV city) that have any show- business aspirations avoid the sauna scene like a plague. Sao Paulo models don't have this problem, they don't have their past scrutinized and besides, on their industry some sex work on the side is not only tolerated, but kinda expected... I think @Gotti is entirely correct on this. I have several fit Brazilian friends, all of whom played with me in the past. They appreciated help from an older man and stayed with me when visiting Europe. Two are from Rio and both are now actors in different telenovelas. My one friend from SP, formerly a spectacular fitness model who is now a banker, used to visit Lagoa - never to work - just to find a fit young man to bottom for him. The smart guys prize discretion and think of their future careers.
Members sanddunes
According to Forbes, there are 26 billionaires with primary residences in Sao Paulo, 1,310 multi millionaires (defined as those worth over $30 million USD), and more than 100,000 millionaires. For these individuals, dropping $1,000 for a new phone for a boy is a drop in the bucket. Boys at Lagoa have also shown me designer clothes, expensive watches, jewelry, and other “presents.” That is in addition to countless European trips and other international travel... Some of the snobbier boys ask immediately what I do for work, what kind of car I drive, etc. in a not-so -discreet way of sniffing out my potential value to them. I can also report that the mythical Lagoa boys who are never seen in a towel still do exist, as someone reported earlier in this thread. Usually they make appearances on the weekend during the shows and are seen drinking expensive bottles with their sugar daddies. Approaching them is futile, as they are either “exclusive” with their sugar daddies, or aren’t interested in one-time tricks for a mere 150 reals. This might be true, but who you know is everything in the entertainment world. With a powerful network executive behind you, anything is possible. How could the media prove anything regarding past sex work? I would think the actor could just deny it or attribute it as innuendo from other failed jealous actors

This is certainly not unique to São Paulo or anywhere in Brazil. A known (by “known”, that means “on the record”) sex worker would have serious problems working in the legitimate film, TV or fashion industries in North America and most of Europe. That doesn’t mean that some more discreet unpublished sex workers haven’t slipped by the guards. Any here who remembers Ye Olden Days of NYC and LA, where aspiring models and actors would visit certain hustler bars with upper-scale clients like Rounds in Manhattan or Numbers in Hollywood, would know that several of those boys — who became the boys du jour of Calvin Klein, Bruce Weber, David Geffen, Barry Diller, Karl Lagerfeld, Gianni Versace, Seymour Stein, etc., ended up getting legitimate low-, mid- and some high-profile entertainment and fashion industry work. The common thread is that the golden tickets have comparably short expiration dates. The rides are not available forever. The savvy boys understand that they must attend to the more well-heeled and well-connected sugar daddies and clients, sacrificing the others, during the “hot period” of interest or else that ship will sail. Just like Father Time, sugar daddies with plenty of options and disposable income can be very fickle and unforgiving. floridarob

There are plenty of network / fashion / film / music industry executives that promise these boys and girls the industry and the world at their feet, just to get some thrills in the sack, then move on to the next conquest. Some actually do deliver on a few minor, rarely major, hookups. This is common of all sexual orientations (look no farther than the creepy crawly fugly but once very powerful Harvey Weinstein for a straight example). The majority don’t end up setting any big screens or international runways on fire. The more common route is maybe a hefty allowance or luxury gifts and trips, with a few small bit roles or ad campaigns thrown in for good measure. But the dream lives on. But paranoia can be a strong motivator — and things are much different in the digital age, where anything can be recorded at any time. Proof is no longer needed to ruin a reputation or deter potential employers from hiring. Besides, all it really takes is a good smear campaign at discussion groups on the Internet — and The Wayback Machine at archive.org is forever. Just a few years ago (maybe 10-15), some aspiring actors, singers and models in certain parts wouldn’t be seen at gay bars and clubs for fear of it destroying their career ambitions. It isn’t really that much different than this.
Members likeohmygod
My experience at Lagoa sauna is not very big compared to the Rio saunas... While I have noticed what sanddunes described, and which does not exist in any other sauna in Brasil (talking about the behavior of some of the elite boys), I have never had a problem in getting sex with AAA guys (when the sugar daddies are not yet in). I really think it is just a matter of attitude and speaking Portuguese here, really helps a lot. You should also be quite smart, since some of the guys here believe that they are way smarter then you. This is something I have realized the first time I visited the sauna. As someone wrote above, these guys tend to select customers based on how rich they do appear to be. Which is very stupid and unprecise as much as their idea of making business. (of course I am not speaking about all of them) The only time I have been "avoided" by a Lagoa's guy (first time I have experienced such behavior in Brazil.), I was asked 500 reais. I said no and the guy left with a very stupid attitude, like if he was somewhat offended by my refusal. He left the table but he remained near the wall at like 3 meters from me. So I decided to pick up my phone and to begin a fake call in Portuguese where I was pretending to place a short order for a packet of shares worth 30 million reais. I knew he was listening. 1 minute after the "call" ended this guy came back to me asking 200. Which made me to smile and to ask him if this was because of the market reaction to some kind of sellout. I told him I wasn't interested anymore. Probably my 200 reais did not make any difference compared to his sugar daddy, but at least he looked a lot stupid to the guys who did see the scene, since he did lost a potential rich, finance addicted, customer. (which I am not hahaha). PopeFrancis, Riobard, sanddunes and 1 other 2

Stupid, naive bitches who look for the “wrong things” when trying to determine wealth (flashy jewelry, fast car, the latest designer clothes, etc.) will fall for this. Every. Single. Time. Sone gay men do this too — actually a lot more than we would think. The garoto with his nose in the air mentioned in an above post by Sanddunes that asked him what he did for a living, what kind of car he drove, etc., seems like he may be one of those who would fall for the “banana in the tailpipe” — a flashy con job. Members sanddunes
Pretending to be rich can be a double-edged sword. While the garotos will be super-interested, their expectations from you will be far higher i.e. higher pay per programa, tips, suites, bottles during shows, and immediate expectations for expensive gifts. A “cheap” millionaire would quickly be sniffed out and the reputation spread among the other garotos. SolaceSoul
Members Gotti
My post was all about the distincion among two sides of the "entertainment" world and how differently they accept sex work as a career path, at least in the beginning. How many faces you see everyday of people trying to sell you someting on billboards/outdoors/magazines/newspapers and what do you know about their lives? Virtually nothing, and you probably don't even think about it, on the other hand an actor becomes known in a role, his career won't go any further without a bunch of interviews, yes it can always be denied, but a rumour will always be around and is not gonna help, specially if homossexuality is involved. That helps explain why so many pretty boys you see in Rio all over the city, rarely one of them at the saunas, at least not the ones with a TV face, while in Sao Paulo models make Lagoa a ritual of passage. Got my point now? sanddunes

Of course, it seems foolhardy to me — but the ones who go this route aren’t exactly about the long term. They just want to trick some new “classy” dick. All of these observations are interesting to discuss, but the overwhelming majority of posters here aren’t the “big baller” type where money is no object. And they aren’t traveling to Brazil and all parts of Latin and South America to break the piggy bank (or cash out their IRAs) for some garotos. If someone is traveling on a retired teacher’s budget (nothing wrong with teachers, just using that as an example), and is constantly haggling with GPs over whether a programa should be $100R or $120R — the difference is basically only 6 US dollars — what makes one think that he will land a garoto who is clearly only there for “exclusive high-end” clients? sanddunes

You can always have fun at Lagoa, just have in mind that some boys are not meant for you, very different from Rio, non?
