Guest George Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Hi Guys, well the date is drawing near for the 5th annual forums gathering to take place. Just in case there are members of this forum that are unaware and for the benefit of new members, the gathering will take place at Memories Bar on Saturday the 13th December commencing at 5-30 and hopefully continuing to very late. To say that the response I have had from my request for a pm from those intending to attend the gathering has been dismal, would be an understatement on my part. A more appropriate definition of the responses I have received would be Diabolical or piss poor. I have explained in previous posts, that the only reason I have asked for Pm's, is so that the catering can be handled in a way where there will be plenty for everyone and so, that it will last for the entirety of the evening. It is also necessary to know the numbers that will be attending, in order to make sure that the required number of seating and tables can be provided. I can tell you that Ian and Leigh, the partners of Memories Bar, have obtained permission from the Sunee office to close off the Soi on this day, so that the gathering can be enjoyed by everyone present without having to tolerate the normal scenario, where motor cycles are whizzing up and down and past all of the time. Now despite the fact that it has been reported to me 2nd hand, that there are many members from the different forums that have stated that it is their intention to attend the gathering, I have not received Pm's from them. Now if I can go to the trouble of arranging this function, as well as providing food, drink and entertainment for you all, I don't think I am asking very much of anybody, to show me the courtesy of letting me know that you intend being present, by sending me a Pm. Am I? If anybody thinks they will be able to just turn up on the day without having sent me a Pm, I can promise you that this will not accepted, so please don't say that you have not been forewarned. I will wait until 6th December, to give everyone whose intention it is to attend the gathering, the chance to pm me. If I fail to get what I consider to be an appropriate number of members informing me they will definitely attend, in order making it worthwhile for me to continue with the arrangements and organisation that is necessary, in order to make this a good day as well as a fun day for everybody, I will have no hesitation in pulling the plug on the idea and canceling the gathering. I hope the above does not become necessary for me to do, but if it does, I will arrange a party instead on this day for those members that have had the decency to comply with my small request of a Pm. I will reiterate what has been said in my earlier posts, that the only name I am requiring from you is your forum name, which will be treated by me with the utmost confidentiality. Whom you introduce yourself as to others present on the day, is entirely the business of yourselves and yourselves alone. Something not said by me previously, is that any member who wishes to bring along his b/f, or any other friend, you are more than welcome to do so, provided you show me the courtesy in your Pm's of letting me know, for the same reasons I require Pm's from everyone that is going to attend. I am going to post this message on all of the forums and don't believe guys, there is anymore that I can say, or do about the matter, other than say, it is now definitely very much a case of it being: Up To You. Cheers all, George. Quote
Guest rainwalker Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I send regrets but will be unable to attend as Rick, my partner of 22 years, is arriving in Thailand that day from New York on the start of a three week holiday. We both will be there in spirit though. Regards, - R Quote

Guest shockdevil Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Only a week away to this amazing event. I hope all that are in town are planning on attending! Here is a silly question: Do you guys have monthly get-togethers? I had planned on being in Thailand already but had to reschedule due to the BKK airport situation. Since my new arrival date changed to late December, I will not be able to attend this year’s Annual Soirée. I do hope that there are other opportunities to meet and greet GayThailand members during my four-month stay. Since I am not really into the bar scene, it would be great to go to a scheduled event. Guest laurence Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Shockdevil I suggest you hang out at some of the outdoor bars in Sunee Plaza like Ouds, Memories, and the Corner Bar to mention a few. Most of the "regulars" poster and non-posters hang out there at one time or the other. Quote
Guest George Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Only a week away to this amazing event. I hope all that are in town are planning on attending! Hi GT, Thanks for pinning this and thereby giving everyone a reminder. I am a little disappointed that although I know some of the members here are also members of other forums, I have only received two Pm's directly from members of this particular forum, notifying me that they will definitely be attending on Saturday. I would like to remind members here by once again reiterating, that if it is your intention to attend the gathering, in order for you to be able to do so, it is essential that you pm me to let me know. I will take this opportunity whilst here, to say that I am delighted to be able to let you all know, that I have had in excess of 30 Pm's so far, from members of the combined Thai forums, that have informed me they will be definitely be attending. Some of these members I am pleased to say, have also informed me, that they will be bringing along their b/f's. OK now back to you GT. I have been following your posts, in which I have noticed all of the places you have been visiting in Pattaya. It would seem from these posts of yours and the places you have visited, that we have just been missing each other, in some cases by a day and in others, by only an hour or so. Because of the regularity that this situation has been occurring and as it no longer seems to me as though it can be classed as a coincidence; I have to inform you of the following, before asking you a question: You may think it a little odd of me in saying the above, but it is as a result of being told by one of my Thai friends in Sunee Plaza the other day, that a farang matching your description, was seen by him to be crouching down behind one of the big black bins they have there, as if to be hiding from someone. Not only that, but it was only after this person on seeing me leave the bar I was in and drive out of Sunee, that they then proceeded to go into the bar I had just come out from. That person wasn't you by any chance was it GT? Let me say to you if it was, that you have been very lucky up to now, but I can assure you that your luck will not hold out. I say this because not only will I catch up with you before you leave town, I will do so when you are least expecting it. Consider yourself to have been warned. Cheers, George. Quote
Guest Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 LOL. No, that wasn't me. I have been in Chiang Mai for a bit and frankly, I would not be able to hid behind any bin. I am getting ready to take a long trip across Thailand to try to see if I can learn more about the people here and get a better idea of Thai culture, life, food, etc. I hope to return to Pattaya after the New Year but with me, who knows? LOL Quote
PattayaMale Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 To get GT off the hook.....it was me George. I like you but I thought if you saw me you would ask me if I was coming to the meet and greet. I am flattered that someone thought I was GT, even though I don't look a bit like him....lucky for him. Next time George I will not hide. I will just walk by ignoring you...... :P :P Quote

However, should a time ever exist, a time that would be necessary for you to be well enough prepared and whereby also, you would be armed adequately enough to the degree which would be essential, in order for you to be able to enter the same battlefield as me, you be sure to give me a shout, wont you? Cheers, George. Quote

Guest Astrrro Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Should be an excellent evening. Thanks again for the invite George! Quote
Guest Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 I hope a great evening was had by all!!!!! It is nice to see this fabulous Rainwalker tradition be carried on by George. Quote
Gaybutton Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 I'm sorry you were not able to be there, but you were there in spirit. So was George. George was so exhausted from all the work he has been doing, along with the preparations for the Meet & Greet that he simply was unable to attend. We were all saddened by that, but those who came had a marvelous time. I didn't so a head count, but it appeared to be about 25 to 30 people in attendance. It was nice to be able to put a face to some of the names. The prizes for the smile and sexy boy contest were duly awarded. TOQ was present and he was generous enough to donate his winning bottle of Chivas Regal prize to the boys who work at the Memories bar. Since George was not able to be there, his prize awaits him at the Memories bar whenever he wishes to retrieve it. The food was excellent and there was plenty for everybody. George was wise enough to make some amendments to the procedure, especially in light of the "gentleman" who last year was crass enough to help himself to Glenlivet scotch all night at Rainwalker's expense. A list of the drinks available free of charge was provided. Those who wanted anything not on the list had to pay for it themselves. Good idea. Also, a "last call" for free drinks was given just before 9:00pm, at which time the freebie drinks portion of the Meet & Greet came to an end. Access to the Meet & Greet was limited to those who had sent a PM to George as an RSVP. It was not open to just anyone who happened to wander by. We were all disappointed that George, who was going to provide entertainment, was unable to do so, but there was consolation. A young Thai magician provided the entertainment and he was a lot of fun. I don't know how he did any of those tricks. For some reason he kept picking me to be his foil, but I had a good time doing it. Aside from the lack of George's presence, the Meet & Greet was a true success and I think all who attended greatly enjoyed the evening. Quote

Guest RichLB Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 I, too, wish to thank George for the really fun, relaxed, and nice evening. I think everyone had as good a time as I did and Ian and Lee went all out to make sure everyone felt welcomed and provide a party atmosphere. The food was delicious - yes all of it - and the Memories boys worked hard to make sure everyone's drinks were constantly refreshed. Thanks to all for making the Meet and Greet a huge success. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Yes, it was a great party! A big thank you to George and it's a shame he wasn't able to make it. I actually had not been to Memories in a long while and am very impressed with the good vibe provided by Ian and Lee (or is it Leigh) so will be going back soon. Quote
