The lowest I'm finding from DC is 48K to Rio in August but others may have better luck. Still better than the normal 60K.

I’d much prefer it not to be a competition. Rio is big and great enough for 3 payboy saunas that can coexist.

To some of you who are debating as to which saunas to go to-- just go to "ALL" of them when you're there and make the most of the experience.  I first went to Brazil (Rio de janeiro) in 2002 after getting the "heads up" from what had been posted at www.daddysreviews.com by Trilingual.  At the time there were four or five saunas; I went to each one but liked three of that number.  All are now defunct except from Club 117 and Point 2002. 

It should NOT be difficult to decide.  Just do a sauna hopping and select the ones to which you felt comfortable and met garotos  of choice. 

Also, remember that many of the garotos might be there during your visit and not when you return another year. 

Also, remember that the nights vary: one night can be hopping, but when you return again, the place might be "dead as a door bell."

Also, remember that the seasons of the year affect attendance at the saunas.  I've primarily gone during October, but when I went to Carnaval in 2003, it was summer; Club 117 and Point 2002 were busy most nights.  New Meio Mundo had not come into the picture, or perhaps I had not been apprised of its existence.

talking about what happened in 2003 is like referring to pre historic times Sauna scenes/popular nights/best boys. change like the wind! your advise as to go to all of them is good!  i will take you up on that! :-)

I went to Manhattan Rios on Friday. There were about 20 garotos working when I arrived around 6 pm (only about 10 customers). By 8 pm, probably 25-30, although of course it is difficult to get a precise count because you don't know who is in the cabins, out smoking, etc. Three guys were very built/handsome muscle types, most others were more natural/cute young guys. The place is still very obviously under construction, lots of guys running around doing small repairs, moving tables up and down the stairs, etc. The smoking area is tiny. I can hang out in the smoking area at 117 even though I don't like smoke, but the smoking area at Manhattan Rios is just that...a tiny outdoor space where you would only want to go if you needed a smoke. The downstairs bar has a limited menu. If you want a cocktail, you have to head upstairs. The bar there is interesting. There's an overhead mirrored structure that drops down over the top of the bar, which causes the customer and bartender to both hunch over to speak to each other--if you don't, you are looking at the bartender's belly button.

I hired two guys there, and only had to pay for one cabin, since they allow you to keep it for an hour. The cabin was clean, but the shower barely worked. I believe the entrance fee was $56 reais, since I have seen people ask about that. The cabin was 35, and the condoms and lube were included in that price.

The first guy I hired was a disappointment, so I ended the session early and paid him just to get rid of him. The next guy was a surprise. Not my normal type at all. He was 19, very smooth skin, African features with lighter/chocolate milk skin, and a great smile. A pretty guy, slightly feminine, very sweet. I do not remember his name, but he gave me the best blowjob I have ever gotten in a sauna. He's clearly gay, and really loves that part of the job, apparently.

One thing of note: I could not get cell reception anywhere in the sauna. I tried upstairs, downstairs, back, front...no luck. YMMV. I had tried to get that boy's contact info in WhatsApp, but it did not save correctly.

Although having a new sauna in Rio is exciting, having a new sauna that lacks internet and blocks cell phone reception is not exciting.

I recall that several years ago it did not matter about digital communication in the saunas.  However, modern society has become accustomed to being always reachable and/or in capable communication.

If a client or garoto is blocked from being included in today's digital world during the period of time in a sauna, that sauna could (and will) lose a lot of business.

The prior poster gave an excellent example of not being able to capture the contact telephone information of a garoto he met and liked at the sauna.  That should not happened in today's world.  

Unless the internet and phone signals are no longer blocked at the new sauna, I predict that clients and garotos will chose other saunas that do have functioning signals.

Suggestion: first, save the contact info in your phone’s main contacts. It will or should save to the phone before uploading to a cloud. Therefore, it will be saved regardless of Wi-Fi, cellular or internet access. Later, when you have Wi-Fi or cell service, you can check to see if the contact transferred to WhatsApp, or just copy it there.

Yeah, I tried to enter it directly into WhatsApp, but I thought the app would save it internally. I had no idea it required cellular access just to save a phone number.
