TotallyOz Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I went to Boys Bangkok tonight. It was a bit odd as there was No boys on stage and we were told the boys would be down from Dream Boy. They did come down after about 15 minutes. I was told about 100 boys as it was a sight to see. I didn't see it. I looked at the boys and it was a slim selection. Not too many boys and very few true superstars. However, there were some really sexy guys there and I enjoyed the dancing. However, it was nothing like the Dream Boys of the past. When I went before, the stage was crawling with guys. This didn't happen now. I did see the seats were also only half full. When I went to Dream Boys in the past, I often could not get a seat. I wonder if this has to do with the 250 price for drinks? Or, are too many boys leaving as there are few customers? The music was LOUD and the bass moved my seat. It was a techo beat for quite a bit. The bars themselves are VERY well done and clean and professionally run. I went to X boys before this and for the price they were charging for drinks they should not have all the sofas with rips and tears in them. Dream Boys and Boys Bangkok are nicely decorated and comfortable for me. Some of the other bars are not. Did I just go on a slow night? Or, is this now typical of the scene here? Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Did I just go on a slow night? Or, is this now typical of the scene here? Soi Twilight is now a sad reflexion of what it used to be. The touts outside are much too aggressive, the boys are generally more pushy, the price of drinks is outrageous, several bars share boys and 'performers', shows are usually boring and achingly slow with only an occasional 'flash' of interest. Ever since one group started buying up several of the bars some years ago, the quality has plummeted. I used to love the old sleaze Twilight bar which is now just like all the others (renamed Hotmale). If you want to visit that Soi, best just to have a drink at Dick's Cafe and watch the eye candy - and the boys sitting outside the massage place next door Quote
Gaybutton Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Soi Twilight is now a sad reflexion of what it used to be. I agree. That's why when I go to Bangkok you won't find me anywhere near the bars anymore. I'm not about to be hustled by aggressive street touts who literally try to pull you into the bar, where you're charged the equivalent of US $7, or more, for a watered down drink while watching go-go boys who don't turn me on in the first place. Other than that, it's great! "You buy drink for boy?" Then, half the time after spending a lot of money in the bar and to take the boy off, you get him back to your room and he turns out to be a total dud. Sorry, none of that's for me. In Bangkok there are plenty of available boys without having to go to the bars to find them. Saranrom Park springs to mind. You can also find plenty of boys at Babylon Sauna, the parking lot of the Malaysia Hotel, shopping malls, and plenty of other places as well. You can also arrange a hook-up via personals web sites such as Gay Romeo. Most might be money boys, but I'd rather tip them without having to go to the bars (which for me is more of an ordeal than a good time in Bangkok) and spend an additional fortune for drinks that I don't even want and off fees. The least of the problems in Bangkok is finding a boy. Usually I'm very supportive of all gay venues, but when it comes to the tactics now used at several of the Bangkok bars, they can kiss my support goodbye. I'm happy to lend as much support as they want if they're treating customers honestly and fairly. But when they start trying to rip people off, start charging exorbitant prices, or start using high pressure tactics, that's where they lose my support and they also lose me as a customer. Quote

There's no show, but drinks are less than half those in Soi Twilight, the mama-san is welcoming and not in the least pushy, there is usually a good mixture of boys (veering more towards 'twinks') and they usually seem to be having fun. Guest Steve1903 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 250 for a drink? Frankly I'd tell them to stick it up their ass. That's just a total rip off. Paying that for a drink and inviting boys to have one wouyld prove an expensive night out. Quote

The boys seem so artificial with their hairdos, make-up and glitter. I would much rather criuse around Wat Pho area and find a guy that has a "boy next door" look. Quote
