Guest GaySacGuy Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I will be travelling soon to Vietnam from Thailand. I will need a visa to enter Thailand. Can anyone tell me how long it takes the Vietnam embassy in Bangkok to process a visa?? In other words, if I take my passport Etc. to the embassy, how long will they keep my passport??? I will be travelling to Bangkok next week, but need to know how long I have to stay to get my visa returned!!! Thanks for any help!!! Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 You can get your visa for Vietnam on line. They will e mail you a letter that you present when you get to Vietnam and then they will affix the visa to your passport. Quote

You might want to contact the Vietnamese embassy and ask how long you would have to stay in Bangkok if a travel agent can't handle it for you. Were you satisfied with their service? How do you go about paying them and what do they charge for this service? How long did it take to receive the Email with the documents from them? Do you still have to take passport photos with you when you travel to Vietnam? Once you arrive at the airport in Vietnam, what happens next? Quote
PattayaMale Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Each time I have gone to Vietnam I had a travel agency get my Visa and they did this for no extra fee (of course had to pay for the visa). I wish that the Asian countries that require a visa could adopt what Cambodia has done. They have an e-visa service which allows you to apply online, send a picture, pay through pay pal and then receive a visa to print out. The whole process from application to receiving the visa by email takes about an hour. 10 minutes to fill out form and pay "pay-pal" and then with in the next half hour an email is received telling you to print out 2 copies of visa. Yes, I have used this service and was completely satisfied. A travel agency in Pattaya wanted $90 for them to get the visa. I got it through this company and paid $30 plus the $25 for the stamp at the airport in Vietnam on arrival. I believe all the answers to your questions are on their website. Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I am currently working with a company in Saigon to receive my visa letter for presentation at the airport to exchange for a visa. The trip isn't until January, but I will keep everyone posted on the success and the trip. I am using Purple Dragon for the tour/trip, and this is the vendor that they reccommended. Will still have to travel to Bangkok next week to get income verification letter at the embassy, but at least I won't have to leave my passport anywhere overnight!! Quote

Sorry fo the confusion....I need the letter as I have to reew my retirement visa, and that requires an income verification letter from the US embassy. I was just going to kill two birds with one stone by getting the Vietnam visa on the same trip...but now only one bird in the bush! Quote
