Peru Getaway

I arrived in Lama land Saturday morning after an overnight flight form Dallas.  My Air B&B host in San Miguel had arranged for someone to meet me at the Lima airport.  I got to the apartment and checked in, from the contacts that I made via Manhunt prior to coming I knew that the neighborhood was relatively safe and right next to the coast.  The apartment was perfect, the guys could just buzz the phone and I would let them right up, this usually happened for repeat visitors since I am using the apps and want to actually see who I am letting into my apartment.  My first and only pay guy was a masseuse that I found online who only charged me 60 Sol for an hour massage after that long flight.  

I spent about 2 weeks in Peru 8 days in Lima and 7 in Cusco.  If you are going to Peru for primarily for guys I recommend that you stay in Lima as there is much more variety and the guys are a bit more mixed.  I basically had a different guy every day and most were middle class guys who wanted to hook up with an "exotic foreign import" and practice their English.  The pay scene definitely exists but, as with any Latin country that is not Brazil or Colombia the fitness level of the guys may not be up to everyone's standards.  These guys were mostly athletic looking guys with normal builds.  From my experience you will only seen a preponderance of the gym built guys in Brazil or and the cam models of Colombia.  Still, I had a great time in Lima.  I met a lot of guys and the most I had to do for some of them was an Uber ride and a meal.  Several spent the night at my apartment and I even spent an afternoon at the home of one guy in Miraflores who really got my attention.  If you are going to travel to Lima for fun and pleasure, I recommend the Miraflores District in Lima.  Miraflores appears to be the tourist and the major Upper-Middle Class enclave in the city.  The majority of the best stores, clubs and apparently English speaking guys are there!  If you want to go out and experience some nightlife you can try the Valve Todo Downtown near Kennedy Park, it is a huge Latin Dance club with a lot of guys to choose from.  Also, please visit the Larcomar shopping mall, I hate visiting malls on vacation pero, this one truly was special, built into the cliff you can literally have dinner suspended over the cliff with a breathtaking view of the Pacific ocean.  While I was in Peru I always enjoyed a local cocktail called the Pisco Sour, I think I had it with virtually every meal!  

The El Centro portion of Lima appears very run down when compared to Mexico City but, it has a lot of history and if you are not easily spooked you can walk around outside the main plaza.  Most of my guys came from Miraflores and San Miguel but, I wonder if I missed an opportunity to get good guys by not staying closer to the Centro?  I really enjoyed my 8 days in Lima, the museums, guys and restaurants were all to my liking.  

Now Cusco is roughly 11,000 feet above sea level so unless you ski or hike at similar altitudes be prepared to spend at leas 1-2 days acclimatizing.   Cusco is also a much smaller city; 300k compared to Lima's 8 million.  I did meet one guy who I will only describe as an Inca Prince for fun 2 times.  However, you will mostly find fellow tourists and will probably be too tired from lack of oxygen to really let your Mr. Hyde loose.  I had a fantastic time in Cusco as well, I met a lot of interesting people, explored the historic city and ventured to Machu Picchu via Peru Rail.  However, Cusco is mainly for spiritual experiences or bucket lists.  Do not go there with the expectation of meeting a lot of guys; unless you are fine with fellow tourists and there are a few hot ones mixed in with the hippies.  I would definitely do Peru again as I travel for cultural tourism as well as meeting great local guys.  If anyone has any questions about Lima or Cusco I would be happy to answer them to the best of my limited knowledge.  Happy Hunting!

@tassojunior: I'm sure that I just scratched the surface regarding what may be available in Peru.  Unfortunately, it is not nearly as well reviewed as places with more gym bodied guys.  My review was mainly to encourage guys who were on the fence and wanted to travel for cultural reasons to visit the country as well.  There are a lot of great guys just unfortunately, if you are looking for gym bodies you will have to look a bit harder, at least in Lima.

Downtown vale todo is a great disco, met some cute guys there...also 80 divas (if it's still opened...was frequently raided/closed) and Sagitario downtown...dangerous at night but lots of cuties.

Banos 240 in downtown was a little difficult for me to find, looks like a plain house from outside but is beautiful inside with massage guys for hire with ending.

Not much info on Lima but in my several trips I always enjoyed it....even found a couple of potential "boyfriend" types....

 

Miraflores def has some awesome restaurants too

@floridarob:  80 Divas was still open it is one of the few places in Lima, that I know of, where a guy can find a decent strip show.  They do have quite a few saunas and massage guys in the city.  The guys in Lima are really cute and were very willing to please, age wasn't an issue at all.  The only drawback as far as this site is concerned is the relative lack of gym bodies when compared to Brazil or Colombia.  Still, if you are just traveling for some cultural experience, restaurants and a few good times Lima is definitely a good destination.

Just wondering about the overall costs factoring plane tickets compared to destinations like Rio and Bogota

@Anthonyvan: The flight to Lima, for me, was slightly cheaper than flying to Rio.  Lima definitely felt more expensive than Colombia I would say I felt a 10-15% price premium when eating at a nice restaurant.  Now as I said before, I feel the quantity of muscle boys is definitely higher in Colombia or Brazil.  However, the number of twinks is definitely higher than I usually find in Mexico so as a top I thoroughly enjoyed myself.  I did not use any professional money boys, except for the masseuse when I first arrived.  I did pay for a few Ubers so that guys could come to my Air B&B and I also paid for a few nice meals with great local guys.   However, if you are just going for sex you should probably stick to Colombia or Brazil where the markets are more developed and the variety is greater.  I don't consider Peru a sex holiday destination, it is more of a traditional vacation where you can have great sex.   There are saunas and clubs to take advantage of, the people were very friendly and the tourist areas feel very safe.  I really loved my time there and plan to go back to see more of what that beautiful country has to offer.

The masseurs in Banos 240 in Centro does extra. Was having a massage and he put a condom on me and sit on it without me asking. I like the sauna in Miraflores better, had a lot of fun there but it is not paid sex.

I am currently planning my first South American trip, so I don't really know what to expect in either Rio or Bogota. But based on what I have learned from here, it seems that everything costs more in Rio and the pay scene is more developed. How would you describe Bogota and Rio? What are the pros and cons of each one? What is your personal fav?

I have yet to travel to Colombia, but my suggestion to you is: ...just go and enjoy and do your own comparisons since many of the guys who've posted in this forum seemingly have a "type."  I happen NOT to be one of them: I like all men and go from there.

Bogota has a fairly large suana-with-masseur scene; maybe 7-10. As in Lima the guys are physically disappointing for the most part. Also expensive and lacking in talent. There's a huge gay area of town and huge gay bars (Theatron). Bogota is a very big European-like city that's comparatively well-to-do. The Gold Museum of pre-Columbian gold art is worth the visit alone (many people go just for that).

Medellin is Where the Boys Are. Strapping latinos eager for anything and cheap. Oddly there's few saunas with boys but Club Tobi is one of my favorites anywhere and a good place to start. A good quarter of the guys on Chaterbate are in Medellin and eager to meet clients in person. If you click on "Just South American Rooms" on CB, almost all will be Medellin. Any tip, even a single 10 cent token, gets you a message. Also Grindr in Medellin is full of  "Prepagos" , ie escorts. There's a block off the main street with hustler bars and a sex hotel. Unfortunately, the only ugly guys in Medellin are there. Medellin is extremely cheap. A "massage" with sex at Club Tobi is under $25. 

If you've seen the Gold Museum, there are cheap direct flights to Medellin from Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. It's very close. Even Spirit and JetBlue fly there. The worst part of a trip to Medellin is the taxi ride over a mountain from the airport. Take nausea pills.

I have not been to either Bogota or Medellin, but many seem to suggest that guys in Medellin are way more attractive than the ones in Bogota. What are the guys like in Medellin? How about in terms of safety?

I don't know much Spanish, so may just stick to Bogota. Are the boys in Bogota considerably more expensive than the ones in Medellin?

The guys in Bogota are twice as expensive and not half as good looking, It's hard to explain: the conventional wisdom in Columbia is that Bogota is Inca Indian primarily while Medellin is European-Latino but it's more than that. Both cities are more mixed Spanish/Inca. Bogota is a huge city high in the Andes and very well-to-do. Guys don't need money. Medellin is a little smaller and much sunnier and warmer in a deep verdant valley. People are more what we think of as latino and poorer. Guys need cash. Plus it's a big party town like Rio or New Orleans. Bogota is no party town in spite of it's huge gay area. I'm not sure I ever saw anyone smile there.

Basically, Medellin is New Orleans and Bogota is Jersey City with a pre-Columbian gold art museum.

Medellin is totally safe in all but the northwest part of downtown, west of the cathedral. Most guys have strapping muscular bodies, are bi and are eager. It's just you have to use Club Tobi and referrals from there, Grindr, Chaterbate, etc to get dates. They love hairy guys (to them it's a sign of European-ness). I would invest in a gay guide maybe with connections. Like everything else in Medellin, one would be very inexpensive.

You did mention a few times about the price differences. Could you give me some examples? Maybe like if it costs 50 USD to get a guy in Bogota, and it only costs 25 USD in Medellin. I have no idea how much it actually costs, so just using that as an example.

I haven't been to Medellin for 2 years and I hear my #1 pick, Christain at Club Tobi moved to Europe. There is a poster on the thread who lives in Medellin and knows the house of guys. A quarter of the guys on Chaterbate are in Medellin and love meeting in person. Just network before going  and from guys at Club Tobi 1st day. Just curious why you have stopped going to Medellin. Where is your new fav these days? I just found a really cheap airfare for Bogota in January like $400. Is it a good time to visit?

I have a big preference for the blond blue eyed types. I go to Prague and Germany a lot but lately find myself going to Ft. Lauderdale, "Where the Boys Are", a lot because it's just a short cheap flight from DC and has no shortage of eager guys at the three gay strip clubs. Also Medellin with it's one sauna worthwhile and 3 masseurs can be hard to work.

Last time I went the ticket on Avianca non-stop was $250 roundtrip from DC. That was a super deal I couldn't pass up.
