Saturday, 06/17/17: I was at the resurrected Gay Pride program and forum today in Monterey, CA. It was stellar, and I was moved for about six hours from reflecting and applauding six individuals who put it on after a very long period of absence. While at the panel discussion later in the afternoon, I complimented those who were in charge. Can't believe how much it has evolved since the early days around 1979 (my first involvement). Strange to me but gay pride here in San Diego is in JULY!! But, the parade goes right in front of my apartment. Have great access to the festivities.I love living in a "gayborhood" where rainbow flags are everywhere and most of the businesses are gay-friendly. I feel right at home. According to the news the event was much much bigger that expected and plans for next year are already being worked on. Sleepy SW Florida may be waking up.
