Hahaha ... right you are, tomcal, in terms of your response to me above. And I would get with Junior S in a New York minute!

What I said is I did not think the RGdoS GP site "themodels.com.br" had ever been referenced on BT in the past ;)

I note that I stayed with a family in PA, momma German roots, poppa Italian roots.

I'm a big fan of BH. The sauna is big, lots of great guys and some of my most memorable  sessions in brasil were in olimpo. I tried one other sauna many years ago but didn't like it and felt no need to return. In terms of things to do, I tended to go out of the city when I could. There are a few landmarks in the city proper but my favorite day trips were to ouro preto, tiradentes, inhotim (a strange modern park dotted throughout with art installations and sculptures). There are also a lot of cachaceras to visit in the area. Do a trip advisor search and you'll find what's hot now.

It helps to have a car and driver, or at least a car and gps. I know of a guy, not an escort, who might be interested. PM me if you might need something like this. I can see if he can do it.

Went to Ouro Preto last trip. Planning to go to Inhotim next tuesday. Can we find a guide ? What is easiest way to get there ? I know there is a bus going every day

There are two basic shuttle options, but some day to day variation. One operator from the Holiday Inn, another for the central bus terminal.

I took a big chance on a Wednesday ... Über to get there, and there was space on Belvitur to get back to BHz, the Holiday Inn Selassi pick-up and drop-off point. See my parentheses in yellow in the relevant photo. I could have ended up stranded.

You cannot get an Über once you are at INHOTIM. My driver offered to stick around all day! I sent him off.

For your Tues, read the relevant section in the photos.

I think the reason Wednesday is similar to weekends is that there are school and/or family discounts on Wed, so the most crowded of weekdays. Or in fact, maybe entrance was free that day. I forget.

Enjoy.

There is more upscale smorgasbord dining across the first body of water at the entrance, a small simple sandwich place near the entrance, and a hamburger kiosk with seating further in. The hamburger place was where I ended up having lunch, and was very good.

@pauleiroI would follow @Riobard suggestions on this. I reached out to him and discovered my friend in BH has his car in the shop and is looking for someone to sponsor the repairs. I declined so if you pop up he'll be very keen.

Thanks to both of you for pieces of advice ! I followed of course and took Belvitur bus from Holiday Inn hotel. We were lucky since weather was perfect. We managed an english speaking guide.

inhotim is possibly the most beautiful place I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot. even if I walk that back in a more sober moment, it's still an amazing place to spend the day. if you really want an adventure, Diamantina is perhaps even more charming than Ouro Preto but it's a 6-hour (and beautiful) bus ride away. with those 2 colonial towns, teh olympo sauna that makes BH the 3rd best garoto city in Brazil, and mineiro food being my favorite brazilian cuisine, minas gerais has a special place in my heart.
