PattayaMale Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Even though I live in Pattaya I hardly ever go to the beach. But since I have a friend visiting, we went there today and sat at Ritt's. It was a great day but I was astonished at how unclean the toilet area is even though they charge 5 baht to use the toilet. I had assumed that the 5 baht was to pay the workers that would clean the toilet. Instead it was very dirty. A lady sits in front collecting the money, but that seems to be it. Just collect 5 baht. The Pattaya city council comes up with these very expensive plans to help bring in tourists but seems to overlook the small but important things like having a clean bathroom which people have to pay to use. Gaybutton Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Actually "5-baht Mary," as I have dubbed her, does clean every hour or so. Granted, I wouldn't want to rely upon her to clean the operating room if I was about to undergo surgery. However, for 10 baht, you can go into "10-baht Tui's," which is right there. You'll find the restrooms there quite clean and also quite large. It's a much better alternative. Quote

I have seen the shower room on many occasions and it always has dirt and sand on the floor. Tui's is a better choice. Quote
Guest laurence Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 This is just another example of incompetency when it comes to public projects in Pattaya. Same as the reconstruction of the road from Pattaya to Jomtien or the paving block sidewalks along Jomtien beach and elsewhere in Pattaya. Quote
Guest JoeM Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Ever since they improved upon the fence, I have used 5-bath Mary. Boy, I loved that fence. Since it is only a pee, the dirt and the odor can be overlooked when in a Singha haze. Quote

Guest JoeM Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 That's disgusting!!!! Beyond disgusting, and worse than anything you will see at Jomtien, are the toilets near the Forbidden City in Beijing. Hey, the Dongtan fence was used by all, but never had the bad odor of the new "public" toilet, at least when the breeze was off the sea. Quote

I have yet to figure out how this road construction on the road to the beach is going to help traffic. You will have to get merged by the end anyway wont you? As for the bathrooms, it is disgusting. I much prefer Tui's and for only 5 extra baht, very worth it IMHO. Quote
