Guest bobbalino Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 On Masterpiece Theater tonight, I think the one time only. It played London's West End, and subsequently on Broadway. For someone living in neither city these TV Productions can be a good deal. I recall Tim Pigott-Smith from Jewel in the Crown 33 years back. Quote
Members Lucky Posted November 4, 2017 Members Posted November 4, 2017 I missed the TV presentation, but will see it at the Pasadena Playhouse later this month. Quote
Members Lucky Posted November 26, 2017 Members Posted November 26, 2017 I learned that the TV presentation was only 90 minutes long, versus the almost 3 hour play. The first act took an hour and 20 minutes. I was pretty bored by then and did not stay for more. The Pasadena Playhouse is a wonderful historic venue. Quote
Guest bobbalino Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Sorry to hear you did not enjoy it. I cannot recall the length on Broadway with Pigott-Smith, who died recently by the way. I read the play before committing to the long trek to NYC. Was the CA cast all British? Quote
Members Lucky Posted November 26, 2017 Members Posted November 26, 2017 I don't know for a fact, but my companion remarked on the lack of British accents. Quote
Guest bobbalino Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Americans, bit-part/xtra-grade. Everyone deserves a shot. Hit and miss, the bullseye is elusive. Quote
