First trip to Brazil

It is the Atlatico Hotel on the corner of R. Tonelero and. R. Siquiero Campos across the street from the Metro(subway) station ans about 3 blocks from Point 202 sauna.  We all stayed there from about 2002 to 2008 and got to know the staff well then the owners son took over and changed staff and a lot of us started staying at Airbnb's and some of us migrated to Ipanema rather then Copacabana, although it is really the same area just Ipa is a little more upscale and the gay beach is there.  They expanded the number of hotels they owned and became less gay friendly(although they do own the building that Pointe202 is in!)

the original reason we all started staying there is that they did not charge if you had a guest in your room and did not make them sign in.  I believe the policies are no longer like that so pick a hotel that fits your location and pocketbook as the rest is the same.

Thanks Tom. You're so helpful I feel like I should be offering you a bj :P

Airbnb and valuables safes? Never seen one in many Airbnb stays. You would ask the host if exigent there. Also many safes in general need batteries and an Airbnb host would need to be asked to ensure they are replaced or sufficiently juiced.

What do I do? I keep valuables locked in suitcase, and then suitcase fixed to a stationary source with a cable lock. That at least takes care of the "wrong kind" of slippery-5-fingered Handjob. Though I do not entertain escorts in the Airbnb.

Adam ... Enjoy your trip ... just a case of preference, but I stick to 117 cuz I don't want to be where 2 'twinks' are taking up the space of an air headed 'muscle bomb' ;)

I can't comment on Airbnb's in general but the apt I stay in has a small safe in the closest that operates with a "heavy" key and is bolted to the wall and is behind your hanging clothes.. still I tend to keep my passport/credit cards and extra cash in one of two small hidden areas I have in the apt.

Best time for the saunas are from 5pm until 8 or 9. By that time, many of the garatos are leaving, and the customers are going as well, unless there is some special show going on.

If you are famished because you dragged out your night waiting it out for the next perfect 117 guy, Gregora Arte across the street is a sure bet for a snack or full meal ... never disappointing so far. Closed Sundays.

Some of the guys hang out at the corner for a meat bob or Walter's sandwich/burger cart. But you may be asked to comp a snack, especially from ones that did not have a lucrative night. I don't bite unless I want him on the "back burner" for later,  though of course there may be those who assert why bother wasting a few centivos.

But I may have been asked only a half dozen times over a month ... is my 'hood  when there.

Check out the street market before entry 117 if Sun afternoon.

Gloria Metro closure ranges from 11-ish to 11:30-ish, depending on the day.

Have fun!

For me as much as I like Rio, this is the difference with Bangkok. Things in Bangkok don't  get started till 9pm and wind down at 1am . Then you can go to clubs till 6am.

I've never been to Thailand but I'm a night owl too and I'm more horny at night. Understand the guys want to go and do their own shit at night though. Selfish pricks ;)

I never went in the end! Just ate local in Ipanema, thanks though ^_^

117 would have had firemen themed strippers @ 10 (all 10s) extending the night this evening. Often such events are forecasted at netgay.com.br

One is a fave regular of mine.

But there will be other shows for sure! And sometimes it is nice to just relax and not push it.

Goddamit why didn't you reply sooner? ;) Instead I ate a tough steak wondering why I didn't make a friend come with me even though it would have meant foregoing visiting saunas...

Oopsie, a thousand pardones. I am 3 hours behind you in Mexico and learned about the potential firemen's hoses and wet streams too late ... burned, baby ;)

Boa noite gentleman! I thought I'd add to this thread rather than make a new one because my report isn't exactly seasoned...

My impressions of Brazil are pretty  damn great. The people aren't that smiley but the majority are very nice when you start speaking to them, I like it. I like New York and Paris and I've never found the people there rude, more genuine.

The weather has been great and I'm loving the beach. I can't really understand how people survive with the price of food and basic goods given their poorer income?! Ipanema is obviously middle class but still...

Sunday night I went to 117. I doubt many people have been more freaked out on entering the place. I went to Thermas in Barcelona once, late, it was shit and I left quickly. The vibe in 117 was nice though, not predatory like desperado-hour Thermas. I got there quite late, at around 8.30 and there weren't many guys I could see (in my limited knowledge).

So I got a bit drunk and relaxed and then there was a drag queen show which I'd never seen before... I thought drag shows were all miming to ballads, not my thing... I was fully expecting to be cringing through the whole thing but this was sort of slapstick humour so although I couldn't understand a word practically, it was very very funny, especially this fat drag queen who was playing the straight man (ironically) who  I thought was hilarious   It made me laugh a lot and everyone else was enjoying it too so it really made me relax and have a good time ^_^

I was trying to avoid eye contact with any guys I didn't like but being sort of nice and English and inexperienced that wasn't easy, as was trying to tell them to get lost nicely when they did come over. I'm learning though.

So I basically sat there and got drunk, chatted to a few guys, some get lost please category, some you're cool but I'm not sure yet. It was getting late and I still hadn't got with anyone.

Earlier I'd clocked this American guy who was very friendly and with all the guys. He spoke English. I bumped into him and told him the score: I'm a sauna virgin (mas o menos), still finding the whole thing a bit overwhelming. He was really nice apart from not understanding a fucking word I said, my London accent. I don't get this sometimes? I can easily understand most American dialects but I've frequently found you guys find it difficult to understand me? Anyway... He was like right here we go! And proceeded to march me, willingly,  around the sauna, seeing places I didn't know were there to check out the few remaining guys. They displayed their wares with this guy and he was like, "you like that?"... Hmm I dunno... OK let's move on. It was the kick up the ass I needed even though I didn't see anyone I liked. I was sort of drawing on his, to me, brazen behaviour  :D

Still no luck. We went back to the lockers and were chatting to a couple of guys and one was really cute, hadn't noticed him before. So with my new wingman there I bit the bullet and off we went. American dude said he'd wait and share a taxi, I said are you sure? He was. (He'd disappeared by the time we came out, fair enough). Me and the guy spent most of the time making out. He was lovely, pretty, with a great slim body. By the time we finished everyone was leaving, asked a couple of guys where American dude went and they thought he left so I bailed. Guy I went with asked me if I was in Ipanema - yes- so I said let's share a taxi. He said no let's use the metro but it was Sunday and shut at 11 we discovered when we got there. We got a taxi.

Now without getting into the price of stuff I do think this is illustrative; he asked for 100 for the time and I tipped him another 20 because I liked him. On the way home we were chatting via Google translate and I asked him if he wanted to come stay. He said yes (obviously) and said the price was... 120!

You probably think this is crazy anyway on basically my first night at the sauna but I was drunk and fuck it and I can handle myself and he was definitely a nice guy (whether I fall asleep and he steals is probably more to the point...)

I thought he understood that was for overnight, out of the taxi and he's says ah but I have to leave at 0230 <_<

That didn't bother me though really, I was having second thoughts if this was sensible, I mostly wanted to chill and have a few beers and I do not like being pressured if I'm not being paid for it.

So, after a bit of back and forth I said it's probably best if you go home. No problem for him or me, we parted on good terms, he got a lift most of the way home anyway I guess! He lives in Copacabana. Probably for the best anyway.

Monday I wanted to go to Meio Mundo, a couple of the guys said it would be really busy because of the free room thing but on the day I wasn't in the mood. I went to 117 again tonight but I've typed way too much already -_-

Metro and Ipanema 99% safe imo, I'd be more worried going out at night in most western cities.

R 100 is pretty standard and your R20 tip sure is a nice thing.  Did he do everything you requested? Did he cum too?  I ask because some garotos won't cum for R100.

Adam Adam Adam Adam.

One is just right, two is too many, three is not enough. Perhaps you did right sending the guy home before two. But what about the three or more? Don't lose your glass slipper. You yourself are being candid about it. Remember who you are, where you are. Do you think Cinderella post-goodnight says "I should not have gone with them ... they seemed untrustworthy"?

Blimey! Be careful, mate.

Since you were using Google Translate on your phone, that entire "misunderstanding" could have been avoided by simply clarifying upfront that the $120R price was for "all night" (which translates to "toda a noite").

You were fortunate that you left the sauna with a decent guy. It sounds like he was hoping to work something out with you for the rest of the night even before you left the sauna, but he was willing to settle for just a cab ride back to Zona Sul. Others might not let you off that easy. But if you can take care of yourself, as you say, then no problem.

120 can mean USD too if the guy wants to rob you.

You reminded me, the American guy said at the time, "he'll probably cum as well being this late". We didn't establish that up front, he asked me in the room if I wanted him to and that would be another 20 I think? I said I didn't care/no. He did everything I wanted. I think he probably would have for 100 if we'd discussed it up front given the hour but who knows/cares.

He didn't mean USD. 120 for a couple of hours would have been reasonable enough I think, I just got bored of talking about it on the street. Neither of us were too bothered.

I have Never had a sauna guy Ever quote a price in U.S. Dollars in 16 years of going to Brazil  They are always referring to R. Even the guys who have visited the US give prices in R. When they are in Brazil.

Are you stating he quoted you 120R for overnight?  That would not make sense for going outside of the sauna and spending time with you unless it was extremely slow or the guy was extremely hard up for money...for an overnight
