I finally booked my first trip to Bangkok

I finally just booked my first trip to Bangkok. It will be a short trip since I can only take a total of 9 days off work.. I leave Phoenix on Wed Nov 8, and will get into Bangkok just after midnite, on the early morning of Friday, Nov 10.. I will be leaving the next Friday, Nov 17. My birthday falls on Wed the 15th, so hopefully I will have a great birthday there.. I have not booked my hotel yet.. I was wondering if anything has changed on the hotel scene lately? I am seriously considering Raya Surawong, for its location and reasonable pricing, along with its liberal visitation policy. I can get a room there for around $70 USD per night.. any other suggestions around the same price? I definitely want something in a good location, close to the boy action.  I did find a few nice looking places on airbnb for less, but I figured for my first trip, it would be better to stay at a hotel until I learn my way around more..

I would love to meet up with anyone who happens to be in town during my visit. I will be traveling alone, so any company/advice, etc would be most welcome. I have made numerous trips to Rio and I love the sauna scene there, but I am anxious to experience the massage parlours and the gogo bars there in Bangkok. I tend to like the twink types, but unlike most of the members here, I prefer my twinks to be tops..

I have 8 months to build the anticipation now.. so, I welcome any input, advice, etc from all you seasoned members...and hopefully I get to meet some of you face to face..

Great to hear. I know you've been trying to work this out.   I'm actually talking to a friend right now that is checking into the Raya. I'll ask him tonight how he likes it. He said he picked it because its next to Soi Twilight. It does have best location.

Getting in at midnight is something most of us deal with. If your ontime and stay at Raya, you will probably have time to run next door for quick drink before all the boys go home,

twink tops won't be a problem. More tops in Bangkok than bottoms.

I doubt I'll be there those dates. I'm here now for 3 months. I tend to go for the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas. My sisters get angry if I miss the holidays.

Lots of time till you go. You'll pick up a lot of good info.  Some of the best weather in November. Low 80's day and about 70 overnight, with lower humidity.  Now it's 95 days and 80 overnights with lots of humidity.

I am pretty sure I'll be there for the weekend of the 14th.  I look forward to meeting up if you have time.

February is the middle of the high season.  Lots going on, great weather . Lots of us regulars usually there.  High point of year for working boys.  Give us an idea of what your looking for. Not sure what you mean by splitting your time.

By splitting my time, I mean which cities and places are most recommended for a three week stay? How long in BKK, Pattaya, etc.?

Bangkok   Pattaya  Chaing Mai  or Phuket       I've been to the first three on three occasions and to Phuket once.  If I were you, I'd spend a week in each place.  If you get tired of city life-- take a few day time tours to some of the islands.  ...wonderful and exciting indeed!

That is good advice from Axiom.  I'd split my time between those 4 cities equally. That gives you plenty of time to see the sites in the daytime and the gay life at night.  There is less gay life in Chiang Mai and Phuket but there are still plenty to occupy your time.  In Chiang Mai, do the Elephant Sanctuary for one day.  It is the most amazing thing to do. http://www.elephantjunglesanctuary.com/

Also, in Chiang Mai, do the temple at the top of the mountain and maybe even go further up that mountain to the Hill Side Tribe. A jungle swing is fun, tons of outdoor adventures if you like that stuff.

In Phuket see the ladyboy show and the Thailand show at night and go on an island hopper in the days.

In Pattaya, the bars and boys will keep you busy but if not try the Tiger Farm.

In Bangkok, oh my, so much to do and see. Take a day trip to Ayutthaya.  Easy in 1/2 day.

I agree with Oz.

Go to Chiangmai for the mountains, Phuket for the beach and islands, Pattaya for...hmmm...sex with thin dark skin boyish men, 1000 baht a pop.

Nine days from right now, I will be on my way to Bangkok. Any more suggestions/advice and/or offers to meet up and show me around?
