Brilliant...

Thank you AS. I've printed this out for future reference.

For Christmas this year, my dear sister shipped me a package via FedEx. Her gifts are usually very high-end and worth a couple or three  Grover Cleveland's, so I opened the package with much anticipation. Inside I found a small silk bag filled with 365 individually printed inspirational Bible quotes with my name inserted into the quote to personalize it. Ok, yes there was that moment of WTF is this, since I was really hoping for a piece of jewelry, I mean, what girl doesn't want diamonds.  Her note said simply."One for each day" Love Sis. It took me a moment, then I decided to actually read one every day. Without sounding overly dramatic, it has been a bit of a life changer. I've slowed my life down, and realized the importance of being grateful.

This was my next favorite because it's so relatable. However, I have found in my own life that the decision to act and the actual execution, can sometimes be days, weeks or even months apart.

Ditto. In some cases it's procrastination. But more and more, it's getting ready to act.

I used to sit down at my desk to write an article with no idea what I was going to say. And sit there for hours getting nada done. Nowadays, I take those walks outdoors to Think WTF the thing should say. And only sit down to write once I have figured it out.

Subconsciously I think I took my cue of how to work from how the Childhood's End Overlords' spaceships worked, according to Clarke. Their Star Drive tapped the energies of whatever star it was orbiting for its main accelerative force. Thus, instead of gradually accelerating as our rockets do, it had to reach its top speed while still inside the solar system it was about to leave. So they madly accelerated from standstill to 99.8% of the speed of light in under an hour.

These days, I don't sit down to work until I'm ready to do the same thing.

Much more efficient.

More from Henry Ford...

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.

You can't build a reputation on what you are going to do.

Quality means doing it right when no one is looking.

Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is probably the reason why so few engage in it.

Don't find fault, find a remedy.

Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.

The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.

My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me.
