Guest PAStr8BoyLuvr Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Greetings fellow fans of Colombia: After reading the various threads (especially snwbrdr015's) and with the helpful advice of others who have contacted me, I am into full blown planning for my first trip to Colombia. Exact dates are TBD, but it's looking like the last two weeks of May. Bogota and Medellin have made the itinerary so far. Cali is a possibility, as is Cartegena and Barranguilla. I will be flying nonstop on Delta from ATL to BOG. What I can tell you is, if the trip turns out to be HALF as hot as the conversations and interaction I've had with the boys there.... O M G! My whatsapp lights up with everything from photos, videos and voice messages, to live video calls. And they are all drop dead gorgeous. Planet Romeo has been a great source for making initial contact, then we move to whatsapp to continue the dialogue. Interestingly, CB has also been a great source and two of my top "must see" and I do mean MUST SEE, boys were found there. As a bit of a reality check, some of them are quite adept at reeling you in and then asking for money (everything from motorcycle repairs, to cell phone balances, to basic needs). I am quick to point out that I am not a Sugar Daddy nor do I want to be anyones ATM. So a few of the hotties have been removed from my list for that reason. I am happy to do something for them when we meet, but I'm not advancing them money. Others, at least so far, have turned out to be very sweet and those conversations continue. One in particular sends me good morning voice messages that will make your heart skip a beat, and he has the body of a Greek God. When trip time arrives, I'm open to posting a daily trip report, although it may not be as heated as snwbrdrs, or will it?! Quote

You should also need to be realistic why they want to meet you. If you older than 50, not in good shape and unwilling to open your wallet, things might not be so rosy. You also have to consider your safety as there are some shady characters out there. Colombians generally like foreigners and are often keen to meet because unlike elsewhere in Latin America, they still not used to us - I doubt any of us would have gone there 10 years ago. As our guide in Medellin said: ''50 000 visited Colombia in 2000 and 4 million last year''. Stark difference. Quote
Guest PAStr8BoyLuvr Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 There's a difference between opening my wallet when I'm there at a time and for a purpose of my choosing, and blindly sending money via Western Union. I also choose who I meet, where and when. I'll be taking plenty of money to Colombia, no worries there. Quote
Members snwbrdr015 Posted February 3, 2017 Author Members Posted February 3, 2017 Sending money is indeed plain stupid. No other word for it. Taking care of a boy -drinks, dinner, entrance fee to club- is someting I always do, even with free dates. The guys appreciate it so much and feel on top of the world. Most of them have only ample money to spent, so they love it when you are kind to them. Believe me, it 'pays back' tenfolds. The escort boys -prepagos- are different of course. But there you make the deal beforehand. There shouldn't be any problem. Safety is indeed a good point. But if you go by some golden rules, you'll be absolutely fine. I might do a topic on that later. But after 5 visits, I feel comfortable now (with caution of course). I am thinking about visiting Colombia in late April, but am afraid of the crime and violence there. Quote
Members firecat691614502759 Posted February 3, 2017 Members Posted February 3, 2017 If you were ok in Brazil then it is likely you will be ok in Colombia. In Rio it is well known you can't go to an ATM machine after dark and especially when not in a tourist area brightly lit. In fact walking down the street on Copacabana teen age gangs may attack you if you are wearing Gold or watch, camera etc. I never had a problem in Brazil but was well armed with what not to do. I never had any such feelings in Colombia although I certainly arm myself with areas not to visit Bogota is a gigantic city and there are many areas that might not be safe just like NYC, Chicago, Mia etc. Hire yourself a guide off of PlanetRomeo or Hornet to show you around the first night and have Sex . Then you are likely to be introduced to his friends who would like to make money and will not want anything to happen to you. I know I stayed in the Hilton in Bogota and always registers my guests and since they had to present ID , they were likely to make sure nothing happened to me. axiom2001 1 Quote

I am thinking about visiting Colombia in late April, but am afraid of the crime and violence there. I travelled Colombia top to bottom this summer and never had any issues however it remains a country to be cautious in. Overall, I found Colombia safer than Brazil which is not only my opinion. Outside of conflict areas, of course - about 40% of the country remains off limits, but ongoing peace process seem to be going the right direction. All major cities are controlled by the government. Street crime, however, is rife, but easily avoidable with the right precautions. Meeting prepagos, however, is a bit trickier than meeting garotos in Brazil. There is no shortage of them, but you won't find saunas packed with hotties. Everyone is on grindr - prepagos as well. Meet them first for coffee and if you feel comfortable, then you can take prepago to your place or hotel per hour. Simple. Some hotels do not allow visitors, some charge extra for each guests, most will only ask for your guest's ID. Quote

Do they put prepagos in their screen name or profile or did they just ask for money in their response? Quote

Guest PAStr8BoyLuvr Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 That works for me! I'm trying to decide if I want to stick with one guide or try to arrange a different one for each place I visit. Pros and cons either way, I guess. So far I found one guy from Barranquilla who looks very promising as a guide (we would meet in Bogota), one guy in Cali and possibly one who lives in Bogota (recent transplant from Vzla). None for Medellin yet, at least not any that seem reliable. The one from Barranguilla is happy to travel with me if I want. The others are local only. Piggy-backing on the safety discussion, I would definitely feel better with someone who knows the area and has a vested interest in keeping me out of harms way vs going it on my own. On the other hand, having a guide could interfere with some of the spontaneity of the trip and meeting other guys. Decisions decisions... Quote
Guest KevinC Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 I browsed Grinder on Bogota and Medellin over the weekend. So far I have not found anyone I would be interested in. My types are white boys with lean/muscular bodies, and thin face, thin nose. Quote
Guest PAStr8BoyLuvr Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 So are you in Colombia now? I thought you had to be there to see who was available on Grindr. Is it possible to browse locations other than your current one? Quote
Members firecat691614502759 Posted February 6, 2017 Members Posted February 6, 2017 You can lie to your phone as to location. No comparison between Grindr and Hornet IMHO. To Kevin C. You are searching a Latin country so Brown Boys is what you are going to get certainly not White as in USA. Plenty of lean muscular bodies not sure about noses not important to me. boiworship, flipao and axiom2001 3 Quote
Guest PAStr8BoyLuvr Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 I tried downloading the Bluestacks android emulator, but then I found out the Grindr app isn't opening in Bluestacks. Been a known issue with no reported fix. <sigh> Quote

Latinos aren't exactly white as we know them in US or Europe or at least some of us would not consider them as such. Judging from your description you will be disappointed. If they are not your type, look for somebody you like closer to home. Quote
Members tassojunior Posted March 10, 2017 Members Posted March 10, 2017 Bogota is a huge comparatively wealthy commercial city. Think bank and insurance company skyscrapers. A very European city in the Andes inhabited mostly by native type peoples. There are several masseurs in each of several clubs but they do less and cost more (and are not the most attractive guys). Medellin is a relatively poor city inhabited by very attractive mainly European-Spanish types mixed with a little native. It has a reputation for attractive people. Club Tobi was all I found there and it only has 3 masseurs a night, but those muscle boys are all 9's or 10's and go for $25. It is also the nicest looking sauna I could imagine. The ones in Bogota vary from dirty to filthy with few guys over a 5 charging at least double and providing very little in return. The easiest flights are from Miami- a short hop on American or Jet Blue or Spirit to Medellin. Otherwise you have to go to Bogota and fly over. Avianca is one of the 1st airlines and is as good as any airline. Again, think European national airline. axiom2001 1 Quote
Members firecat691614502759 Posted March 10, 2017 Members Posted March 10, 2017 I felt safer in Medellin then Bogota but the difference is not big , and basically I felt safe in both. I found the apps and Romeo useful in both cities. The climate no comparison, to my taste Medellin far nicer. Both deserve a visit and of course which you like better will probably be determined by which boys were better from your perspective. The link below is quite fair in comparing the cities and of course always Bogota is 3x bigger and harder to be comfortable in as to where to go and not to go. http://medellinliving.com/bogota-vs-medellin/ axiom2001 1 Quote
Members Darkseraphim Posted April 24, 2017 Members Posted April 24, 2017 @snwbrdr015 : thank you so much for the review! Where did you find the information on the cabinas? I have been searching google and the most I can find is are random vague postings. Is there any particular sight that lists and or ranks these illustrious establishments? Quote
Members snwbrdr015 Posted April 24, 2017 Author Members Posted April 24, 2017 Check out: http://www.guiagaycolombia.com/videos/ The Cabinas are called 'Video' or 'Video Bar' as well. Darkseraphim and axiom2001 2 Quote

I may just bite the bullet and dive back in. Quote
12is12 Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 SNWBRDR, I apologize for my ignorance, but apparently I missed something. According to your wonderful review/post these places are 'just' video-gloryhole cabinas (full sex is also possible), with random guys who happen to wonder in. However, the link you posted leads to a page with ads advertising guys and shows and whatnot. They look like real clubs, not just video cabinas..... Thx (-: Quote
Members tassojunior Posted April 28, 2017 Members Posted April 28, 2017 I went in a cabina in the gay area of Bogota but it was just dirty video booths and no one else was there. Quote

Members snwbrdr015 Posted May 3, 2017 Author Members Posted May 3, 2017 @12is12: you are right: the ad shows the whole lot. The Cabinas are mentioned there. I check out the ones in the safe areas, where I stay (Chapinero). I've never been to one of the showbars. Anyone? Quote
