Gaybutton Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Finally, we have something official. The following appears in PATTAYA ONE: _____ Entertainment Venues and Tourists Prepare for 3 days of Closures and Limited Service During this time, Pattaya along with the rest of Thailand are in a period of mourning. Although Pattaya is dominated by it’s entertainment industry, local venues are complying with regulations put into place to cover a 3 day period from 14th until 16th of November when Cremation Rituals and the Cremation Ceremony for Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Wattana takes place. Entertainment venues recently received a letter from the Chief of Banglamung District, Khun Mongkol which stated that venues may open on 14th and 16th November, however entertainment within the venue must either be stopped or reduced to a minimum. Individual bar owners will interpret these regulations in their own way. The letter states that all venues offering entertainment must close on 15th November which is the day when the Cremation takes place. We toured South Pattaya on Friday Afternoon and found all bars were complying with the regulations. Many bars were open but no music was heard. Alcohol was being served and many tourists appeared oblivious to the temporary changes. Quote
Guest Steve1903 Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 May be a blessing then. To be able to go into a boy bar and hear your conversation could even catch on. Quote
Guest Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 May be a blessing then. To be able to go into a boy bar and hear your conversation could even catch on. LOL. Perhaps. That would be nice. I did see that the bars in Sunee were mostly closed with a few beer bars open and almost dark. The Boyztown bars were the same but Wild West Boys and some of them were open but low key. Of course, all the girl bars next to Wild West were going strong. I took the opportunity to eat out with the BF at the cheap spaghetti place on the way to Jomtien. I thought it tasted OK for what it was but he hated it and said he would not return there. Quote
Guest Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Driving around tonight on a motorcycle, it looks like all the bars in both Sunee and Boyztown are closed. Even the girl bars that are around that area and on walking street were dark. Quote
Guest Jason105 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Maybe this topic has been discussed before but I don't remember so here goes: Has anyone notice the big difference in the way that girl bars operate as opposed to boy bars? Apparently the off fees are much less expensive at the girl bars as well as the drink prices. Is it because boys have to earn more in order to support mama and papa? No matter what the price difference, the main attraction, the boys, is what keeps the customers coming. Quote
Guest Steve1903 Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 So how does the price of girls compare to the boys? Naturally I would have zero clue what the girly charges are, does anyone know? Eg. Off fee is...? General price for short/long off? Quote

Off fee is...? General price for short/long off? Off fee is the price you pay to the BAR if you would like to take a boy/girl out of the bar. It doesn't matter for how long, but maximum one 'shift'. Some bar-owners, mamasangs, but also boys or girls promote short-times, because that will bring extra money for all of them. Regarding the differences in off-fees: During the first of my stay in Pattaya (2003) I also went to the girl-bars on Walking Street (that's the only disadvantage of having a 'straight' boyfriend) and noticed that the off-fee were much higher than the off fees for the boys. Starting at THB 400 and for the boys it was THB 200/THB 300. Maybe it's just more expensive on Walking Street, but for me, the women are more expensive. Quote
Gaybutton Posted November 17, 2008 Author Posted November 17, 2008 the women are more expensive. That's yet another reason I thank God I'm gay . . . Quote
