Tithing for Thais

Many post on tips for Thais but what about tithes for Thais? In other words, setting aside some money for the bf or boy special on a regular basis. An allowance is another word but not as alliterative! For those who have bfs in Thailand or special friends(regulars) do they provide money on a regular basis even when not in residence in Thailand? Yes, I know, the common wisdom is Thais have a string of farang who routinely send them money, but, I have not experienced this.

For myself, I do have a bf which I dole out Baht on a weekly basis plus I have a few specials to whom I try to assist as my finances allow.

For the special ones, I consider 3,000 to 4,000 Baht no more than once a month. For the bf, 3,000 to 4,000 Baht/ week.

Yes, I know the word is that Thais can eat on 100 Baht/day and pay 2000 Baht/month for lodging but that seems a meager existence.

Anyone have thoughts on this?

Yes. You said that you have not experienced a Thai boy who has a string of farang sending him money. While that idea has become somewhat of a cliché, I'm curious as to how you know you haven't experienced this?

Hmmmm! I don't know in the absolute, just my belief knowing those involved. I have complete trust in the bf since we have known each other for a long time and there are enough "little birds" in Pattaya who would inform me if he were straying.

For the other special ones, well, their circumstances make it unlikely that they are double dipping. However, I really don't care if they have other farang feeding them. In fact it would please me that was the case, and I have said this to them. Why, because what I may give them is but a pittance compared to their needs.

I have a few boys I help out year round. When I am away, the number 1 BF puts 600 bath a day (or so depending on length of time with me) into their account. I think this is sufficient for them to make ends meet when I am away. If it is someone I have known for only a short time, perhaps 500 baht a day is OK. I do send some extras from time to time. I will not comment on what number 1 boy gets daily or monthly but he is ahead of the rest.

I do have a few guys I see on a regular basis and if they call when I am out of town, I will sometimes have BS put 1k or 2k baht onto their accounts if needed.

What I have done in the past is tell boys if they want to stay in Pattaya and work in a bar, I'll give them 2-300 baht a day to live and it is OK if they go with farang and work. Or, they can go home to their family and not visit Pattaya and get 600 or so baht a day. Most take the latter as they realize they won't get as much even if they stay in Pattaya unless they get an off daily.
