Guest MonkeySee Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 The media is now reporting that Joran van der Sloot, the main suspect in the disappearance of US citizen Natalee Holloway on the Caribbean island of Aruba, is now living in Bangkok making a living off 'exporting' Thai prostitutes to Holland. Thailand attracts all kinds of people. Would anyone like to go out for a night of drinking, and then maybe a midnight stroll on the beach with young Joran? Quote
Guest Steve1903 Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Young Joran? What age is he? I havent heard of this particular case. Quote
Guest laurence Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I think the slime ball, Joran, is about 21 yo. That is a good one, a midnight stroll on the beach with Joran! A midnight swim with Jaws would be a safer choice. Although in all likelihood the poor girl did end up as shark food. Quote

Time has a way of showing the real truth about people and this may be the case here. However, in spite of the fact that young Joran is cute, I do not think it would be wise to walk anywhere with him. That is just common sense caution. Quote
Guest MonkeySee Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Young Joran? What age is he? I havent heard of this particular case. Joran is now 21 years old as stated above. I think he was 17 when Natalee Holloway disappeared. Wikipedia has a good summary of the case, if you care to read it. The link is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natalee_Holloway Quote
Guest Steve1903 Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Not much by way of evidence in the report other than a gobby teenager maybe looking to act the hard man. Doesn't sound like they are going to get anyone unless they come up with more than that for proof. Quote

Doesn't sound like they are going to get anyone unless they come up with more than that for proof. I agree with the above. I have read reports that are far more damaging to Joran then this Wiki one, but I have also read reports that defend him. Let us see what happens. The only good thing about murder is there is no statue of limits on the crime. If he is a scumbag, similar to OJ, he will show his true colors. Even if he is never convicted of murder, he will probably spend time in jail, as some personality traits just do not go away. Quote

Joran van der Sloot (Dutch, as I am), is a major player in a very popular media-'game'. The other player is a certain Mr. Peter R. De Vries, a former policeman. Mr. De Vries is very concerned about justice and the proper way to enforce the law. He has a very profitable business, a series of TV programs, where undercovers try to get some kind of illegal activities at the surface. Mr. De Vries almost caught Joran van der Sloot in the Nathalie Holloway case (ALMOST) and he almost caught Joran in the Thai prostitues export case (again ALMOST). OK, the recorded undercover conversations do show some kind of sick guy (Joran), but that isn't enough to nail him. If Mr. De Vries is really into the correct way of law enforcement, he could have passed the tapes to the Thai authorities before showing them to the public on a Sunday afternoon. Probably Mr. P. De Vries is working on his 2nd Emmy Award. The first one was for the Nathalie Holloway broadcasts. Joran van der Sloot is a very sick guy who needs to be locked away for a large amount of time, but only with his room-mate.........Peter R. de Vries. Quote

I guess the lack of evidence was the reason. The fact that his father is a judge, probably did not have any bearing on the case. Quote
Guest MonkeySee Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I have just seen parts of an interview with Joran van der Sloot on that "so-called" fair and balanced network. Joran is now saying he sold the Holloway girl to a mystery man for $10,000. The police knew about it but were paid-off by Joran's father. This guy is really a nut-case. At the end, the interviewer stated that Joran had called, at a later date, and retracted the entire interview. Quote
Guest MonkeySee Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I wonder if Joran is in danger of being charged with sex slave trafficing? The laws in Holland are different than Australia, but here is a news clip of a different case. A Gold Coast hairdresser who forced two Thai women into sexual slavery to pay off debts to violent loan sharks has been jailed for five years. Keith William Dobie, 48, was the first person in Australia charged with people trafficking under new laws brought in two years ago to clamp down on international sex slavery, the Courier Mail reports. The former hairdresser yesterday pleaded guilty in the Brisbane District Court to two counts of people trafficking, one count of handling proceeds of crime, and four counts of presenting false documents. Dobie lured the women to Australia to work as prostitutes with promises of easy money and generous working conditions, but turned into an abusive and demanding pimp after they arrived, the court was told. Prosecutor Peter Flanagan, SC, said Dobie secured visas for the women by presenting false immigration documents to Australian officials in Thailand. He said Dobie was desperate to pay back money he had borrowed from Gold Coast loan sharks to finance his hairdressing salon and gambling addiction. The women were both mothers and saw the trip as an opportunity to set up their families financially, Mr Flanagan said. But on arriving on the Gold Coast, the women were forced to see as many as five clients a day, even when they were in physical pain from frequent sex and were menstruating. Mr Flanagan said Dobie earned up to $1000-a-day from the women, giving them the use of a room and $20 dollars a day for food and expenses in return. He sent as little as $600 in total to each of the womens' families. Mr Flanagan said Dobie was verbally and physically abusive, telling one of the women she "had to work whether she liked it or not", and told them they would be arrested by immigration officials if they tried to escape. Judge Leanne Clare told Dobie his treatment of the women had been "particularly demeaning and callous". "Your true intention was to make as much money from these women by working them as often as possible so you could pay off your own debts," she said. "In your numerous appearances before me I have seen no indication of remorse for your crimes or the suffering they have caused." She sentenced him to five years. He will be eligible for parole after serving 22 months. Source: Herald-Sun - 23 December 2008 Quote

Guest MonkeySee Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Joran van der Sloot case is in the news again. Here is the latest: SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Aruban prosecutors said Tuesday their investigation into the 2005 disappearance of U.S. teenager Natalee Holloway is nearing the end and appealed for anyone with information to come forward. Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos said his office still needs "at least another few months" to investigate statements made by the only remaining suspect, Joran van der Sloot, during a hidden-camera interview which was broadcast on Dutch television last year. But he then said prosecutors "are approaching the end of this lengthy investigation." "If you have relevant information — no matter how small or uninteresting it may seem — please notify my office or the police," Mos said in a statement Tuesday. Holloway, from Mountain Brook, Alabama, was last seen in May 2005 leaving a bar in the Aruban capital Oranjestad with Van der Sloot on the final night of a high school graduation trip to the island. She was 18 at the time. No trace of Holloway has ever been found despite extensive searches involving hundreds of volunteers, Aruban soldiers, FBI agents and even Dutch F-16 jets with special equipment. Aruban investigators reopened the case last year based on the hidden-camera recordings made by Dutch television crime reporter Peter R. de Vries. But judges rejected an attempt to re-arrest Van der Sloot for statements he made on the Dutch TV show. The hidden-camera recordings showed Van der Sloot saying he was with Holloway when she died on the Dutch Caribbean island and that he had a friend dump her body at sea. Mos, without disclosing specifics, said the TV program caused a "new stream of information" regardless of the appeals court decision blocking authorities from arresting Van der Sloot for a third time based on the statements. "My office does not want to disclose these results to the suspect and thus make him wiser even before he has been confronted with these results," Mos said, referring to Van der Sloot, who was last known to be living in Thailand. In November, Ann Angela, a spokeswoman for the Aruba Prosecutors' Office, said authorities hoped to decide by the end of 2008 whether to prosecute Van der Sloot or close the case for good. Attorneys for Van der Sloot did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment and there was no answer at his parents' home in Aruba. Natalee Holloway's mother, Beth Holloway, did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment. Quote

Guest MonkeySee Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Sounds to me like they still have diddly in respect of evidence. I think you are right. If the authorities had enough evidence, young Joran would be behind bars long ago. Like OJ, I think Joran will probably get what he deserves. Quote
Guest MonkeySee Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Joran Van Der Sloot is in the news again. He is in Peru and is being questioned by police for the murder of a 21 year old woman he met in a casino. Looks like the authorities have enough evidence for a murder rap.
