Members MsGuy Posted September 26, 2016 Members Posted September 26, 2016 As of 3 minutes ago, 538, the poll analysis site, called it a coin flip between Clinton and The Donald. The Hill has a barely 55% chance of winning and Donald is creeping up in the polls, even in her firewall states. Trump has opened up daylight between himself and Clinton in Iowa, Ohio, North Carolina and Florida. He's running significantly ahead of Romney's numbers at this point in the campaign. Some folks are saying that anything less than a full blown bull chimpanzee dominance display, complete with shit throwing, will be enough for fence sitters to perceive him as a plausible president. So will someone here please post something, anything, to calm my nerves enough to watch the debate w/o throwing up. Quote

Members MsGuy Posted September 27, 2016 Author Members Posted September 27, 2016 Thank you both for your efforts, such as they were. Maybe they're working better than I thought they would as, so far, I haven't turned to Monday NFL. But Larstrup, ain't no way I'm gonna kiss and make up with Trump. You go down that path and invariably you wind up grooming his hairy back & cracking his fleas with your teeth. And Adam, while there's some merit in your suggestion, if I drank enough to settle my nerves, I'd only aggravate the throw up problem. ==== Clinton seems to have a tendency to try to defend herself against Trump's random attacks, truly a fool's errand. Trump just brushes any attempt to engage aside and blasts on to a totaly new and unrelated accusation. lookin and TotallyOz 2 Quote
AdamSmith Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 There is no hope. The only salvation, for some of us, is that the species extinction certainty from anthropomorphist climate change will come [complete this computation based on your own age]. TotallyOz 1 Quote
Members MsAnn Posted September 27, 2016 Members Posted September 27, 2016 If you watched the debate MsGuy, your analysis was incorrect. She hit a home run. She got under his skin, and he was a babbling fool. I think it was quite clear that you and Oz should sleep very soundly tonight. Have a little nip of Jack, take two aspirin and by tomorrow morning it will be all better. He came apart like a cheap watch. Repeat after me..."Madam President" TotallyOz, AdamSmith and lookin 3 Quote
Members MsGuy Posted September 27, 2016 Author Members Posted September 27, 2016 MsAnn, I will indeed sleep better for your words. But I confess that I will have to take your word for it. About mid way I decided I just didn't have the nerves for that kind of stress any more and switched the ball game (which was boring after all) and from there to the poker tournament on ESPN 2. PS The poker tournament was just about right. TotallyOz and MsAnn 2 Quote
Members MsGuy Posted September 27, 2016 Author Members Posted September 27, 2016 At lunch my buddies at the truck stop told me (with varying degrees of regret) that Trump seemed a little sketchy toward the end of the debate. Shit, now I wish I'd kept watching. I missed all the good stuff. Speaking of the good stuff, I read that all those sniffles might have had lot more to do with lines on a mirror than seasonal allergies. Not being a candidate for president, I would never repeat such scurrilous rubbish in a public forum, but some people are saying it so clearly Mr. Trump needs to come clean on this issue! background chants of "Lock him up! Lock him up!" TotallyOz and AdamSmith 2 Quote

Members RA1 Posted September 27, 2016 Members Posted September 27, 2016 Two comments: Those who didn't like Trump before, still don't like him. Those who didn't like Clinton before, still don't like her. Two things scared me about the debate: One, Clinton might be able to do what she promises. Two, Trump might not be able to do what he promises. Best regards, RA1 TotallyOz and MsGuy 2 Quote
Members MsGuy Posted September 28, 2016 Author Members Posted September 28, 2016 Not to get too snarky, RA1, but don't the voter surveys show that even among Trump supporters, a majority don't think he will do what he promises? Trump's supporters do, however, like the hell out of his style. I feel like it's appropriate to confess that, when I made the scurrilous accusation about Trump tooting a bit too much blow, I hadn't actually read or heard of anyone making any such vile statement. In my defence I can only say that I felt sure someone would so I felt justified in pre emptively quoting him. And sure enough someone has. TotallyOz and lookin 2 Quote
Members RA1 Posted September 28, 2016 Members Posted September 28, 2016 Is there a difference between not doing what one promises and not being able to do what one promises? Of course, technically there is but I am referring to the result. Trump definitely has too much blow but maybe not the kind you mean. I don't think he drinks or does drugs. His EGO is enough. Members MsGuy Posted September 28, 2016 Author Members Posted September 28, 2016 LOL, RA1, I didn't actually say Mr. Trump's coke eroded sinuses were causing those sniffles, I just mentioned others were saying it. It's one of the Donald's favorite tropes, the political equivalent of digging out a big fist-full of feces and letting fly. "Who me?" AdamSmith and MsAnn 2 Quote

There was a terrific Frontline program on last night called The Choice 2016 with profiles of Clinton and Trump. One of the things I was aware of, but hadn't fully appreciated, was the influence Roy Cohn had on the Donald Trump we see today. http://www.pbs.org/video/2365848966/ Trump hired Cohn to defend him and his father against pair's anti-Black rental policies. Apparently, one of the first questions Trump asked Cohn was whether or not he should settle. Cohn's response was immediate and emphatic. He said that Trump should never settle, should never admit guilt, and should come out punching in all directions and as hard as he could. It didn't matter what he hit with, as long as he kept hitting. His opponents would eventually give up. Trump took that advice, including denial even in the face of proof and, as far as I know, has followed that policy to this day. Cohn's influence on Trump was remarkably long-lasting. Trump retained Cohn until Cohn's death and kept a particularly frightening picture of Cohn in his desk drawer. He would pull it out and show it to those who opposed him in any of his "deals" and said that's who they would be dealing with in court. AdamSmith, MsGuy and MsAnn 3 Quote

Not exactly the demeanor fitting of the office of POTUS. As much as Trump seemingly wants to view himself as the next Frank Underwood to occupy the Oval Office - he remains nothing short of a gregarious, neurotic blowfish. Quote
Members MsGuy Posted September 29, 2016 Author Members Posted September 29, 2016 Yeah, I've read that Trump channels his old pal Cohn even to this day. ==== Back to full bore panic mode: Turns out that Clinton leads in exactly those states she needs to win the electoral college w/o a single state cushion (per 538 and Nate Silver). She leads in states with a total of 272 electoral votes. One more state slips away and Trump parades down Pennsylvania Avenue. Worse, her hold on her last 3 or 4 states is significantly shakier than Trump's hold on his last few states, i.e. New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Colorado are noticeably weaker for Clinton than Florida, Ohio and Iowa are for Trump.) I think it's time for me to take AdamSmith's advice and make a run to the liquor store. lookin, MsAnn and AdamSmith 3 Quote

Mornin MsGuy. New scientific polls out this morning a few days after the debate. All agree that Hillary won the debate by at least 20 points. In must win MI, FL, NH for The Donald...Hillary is up 7 points, 4 points, 7 points respectfully, and she is leading in Colo, and VA. OK I'm going back to bed for a little more shut eye. Members MsGuy Posted October 1, 2016 Author Members Posted October 1, 2016 I don't know, MsAnn, I wouldn't sell short any candidate who has the temperament and energy to get up at three in the morning to blast out multiple rants against a foreign beauty queen from the 1990's. I do find it kinda find it puzzling why Trump keeps going after Hillary for not dumping Bill after his bimbo attacks. Middle aged married women constitute the core of Republican female voters. Does he really think that demographic is going to hate on a middle aged married woman with a kid for struggling to save her marriage? I don't get it. MsAnn 1 Quote
