This is just one of many stories about Rio's failure to be ready . But NBC I am sure will have beautiful scenic vistas to show off what arguably is one of the most breathtaking cities in the world. Unfortunately it is just not capable of pulling this off because of widespread corruption and systemic poverty. RA1 1 Quote
Guest 406boytoy Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 who knows? maybe they'll pull it together, it's possible. Not likely though lol Quote
TotallyOz Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 It was a good idea at the time. Then, the perfect wave seem to strike. Shit started happening left and right. It was a bit insane. The economy collapsed. The government collapsed. I hope they are able to pull this off but I doubt they can overcome all the obstacles they are faced with. I think this has caused many countries to pause in their plans to bid for an Olympics. numerito 1 Quote
Members firecat691614502759 Posted July 25, 2016 Author Members Posted July 25, 2016 In some ways Olympic organizers have done a good job selecting Modern Cities in stable countries at least for the Summer Games. Athens might have been questionable due to its economy but London ,Bejing , Sydney Seoul, Atlanta, LosAngeles were cities with great infrastructure and solid economies backed by Countries that had stable economies. This was a bad pick to begin with. A city with corrupt officials, systemic poverty, terrible transportation, etc etc etc. It will come off and NBC will make it look good and then when it is over the citizens will be left with useless buildings , no money to take care of the poor etc etc etc. Just a shame! numerito 1 Quote
Members JAYBLK Posted July 30, 2016 Members Posted July 30, 2016 Maybe we should just call them the 1st World games and let athletes from the developing world compete for the countries they live in rather than those where they were born. We could rotate the games between London, New York, Frankfurt and Hong Kong, like the global elite. Quote
Members axiom2001 Posted July 31, 2016 Members Posted July 31, 2016 I will watch the Opening and Closing ceremonies from my television which is in my living room; I'll root for the Americans and the Brazilians and Australians who participate in my favorite sporting events and try to remain extremely optimistic in light of the obstacles faced by the cariocas prior to the beginning! I truly, truly hope that this principal event bodes well for the country and its people! I hope to visit in 2017!! Quote

Hopefully ISIS does not realize what a joke security is in Rio. Quote

"I hope they are able to pull this off..." They have two days to do as your "hope" stipulated! I, too, truly hope the cariocas are mighty successful in spite of all of their apparent difficulties. And to Firecat's statement, NBC definitely has shown some great Rio footage since Monday; ...hope they continue to do such and that these match what truly is and will be transpiring during the next two weeks, beginning on Friday, the 5th of August 2016. Sorry Rio is beautiful but there are many other places that could challenge for unparalleled beauty Award. That is why escorts do so well. Everyone has their own idea of beauty. For me, I have always said Rio was the most beautiful city I have seen. I like the beaches and the eye candy and the mountains and the food and the boys. So, for me, it is unparalleled. I'd also say Paris is the most beautiful city for architecture and New York is the most beautiful city for skylines. But, it is all relative to what you like. paulsf and SolaceSoul 2 Quote
Members firecat691614502759 Posted August 7, 2016 Author Members Posted August 7, 2016 You have left out the main variable such as your travel experiences . I f you have not been to the Western Cape of South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, The Amalfi Coastline in Italy, Ireland etc then your key phrase is relative to what you have seen. Quote
TotallyOz Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 I have been to Cape Town, Johannesburg, Sydney, Perth, Italy and Ireland. I do agree that many places are beautiful. But, none have the beauty in the day and the beauty and accessibility of hot boys in the night like Rio. Sorry. It just doesn't happen in those other places like it does in Rio. I had fun in Sydney. But, I paid a great deal more than I do in Rio. So part of beauty may also be in the bargain. MsGuy and SolaceSoul 2 Quote
Members firecat691614502759 Posted August 7, 2016 Author Members Posted August 7, 2016 Now we are at the root to the argument. Unparalleled Beauty where there are Cheap BOYS. That I can agree with. Otherwise it is not even close and of course those places you mentioned you do not have to worry about pollution and crime to anywhere near the degree you do in Rio. Take out the cheap boys and add in the ridiculous high price for nice Hotels etc , it falls way down the list. Believe it or not most Tourists are not Sex Tourists although I agree the readers here certainly are. JAYBLK and AdamSmith 2 Quote

We admire beauty in all forms: mountains, beaches, muscles, etc. I think Rio is beautiful and the best beaches I know. I think Thailand has the best gay bars (for hookers) in the world. Members Gotti Posted August 7, 2016 Members Posted August 7, 2016 What puzzles me Rio is the fact that is paradise beutiful and is a big city at the same time. You are in Ipanema on the beach at 2 PM looking at the most beautiful scenario, surrounded by gorgeous people with a beyond unique atitude and you decide to go home you walk 2 blocks and are inside the subway, with people in suits, making a living like they do everywhere else, thats ureal. Paradise and business are usually mutually exclusive, but not in Rio, the only place on earth where the 2 things coexist. paulsf, TotallyOz and SolaceSoul 3 Quote
Members firecat691614502759 Posted August 8, 2016 Author Members Posted August 8, 2016 Just not true . Here are 10 and probably a lot more. Again the only thing that moves Rio to the top of that list for this Forum are Cheap Boys for rent. http://travel.nationalgeographic.com/travel/top-10/beach-cities-photos/#/beach-nice-france_21760_600x450.jpg Quote
TotallyOz Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Again, I disagree. I have been to 9 of 10 of the places on your list. I still think Rio's beach is the best of any of the others. You don't agree. Fine. But, that does not make it untrue for me. Santa Monica on the list. Vs. Rio? Come on. Thumper1 and SolaceSoul 2 Quote
Members firecat691614502759 Posted August 8, 2016 Author Members Posted August 8, 2016 The statement was Paradise and Business the only place they coexist . Statement is false and I can find many others that meet that particular situation. Which is best is for the individual person to decide , taking into consideration, safety , pollution , transportation etc etc etc. If you put cheap Boys in there and say Rio is the only place where Business and Paradise co-exist where cheap Sex of both straight and Gay is available Then Rio wins. Otherwise it is just personal taste of many places where the 2 coexist. Quote
Members Lucky Posted August 8, 2016 Members Posted August 8, 2016 I have been to 7 of the ten listed beach cities. Rio wins for me. SolaceSoul and MsGuy 2 Quote
Members firecat691614502759 Posted August 8, 2016 Author Members Posted August 8, 2016 That is fine as long as you acknowledge that there are many beach cities rather then Rio being the only one where paradise and business coexist. Paradise can be defined in many ways and not just a place where Cheap Sex can be had. All the others in that list and I think many more would consider themselves Paradise co- existing with cities. Since my type of boy is not readily available in Rio ( 4 trips was enough for me to decide that), many others in the list finish ahead of Rio and for many reasons but certainly pollution and crime are just some of the reasons.
