I am enjoying the show, especially the characters of the gay son and the Dad.

I embrace the message of support that the show sends. Although the devout Catholic family is miles apart in its views of homosexuality, they are always supportive of the son, and always let him know they love him. The gay jokes are cliches, but the work in their context here.. It always makes me smile

The actor playing the dad was actually a child star himself, first playing Ponyboy Curtis in the television series "The Outsiders" back in the late 1980's.
