PattayaMale Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 I saw on another forum where some posters thought that Googie's Restaurant might have closed. It is not true as I ate breakfast there today. Googie told me that the reason he was closed one day was that they were pulling electric lines and he had no electric. The electric was to come on at 5pm but did not until 7:30. Another day a pipe or drain that runs behind Pattaya People broke and it took the city most of the day to get it fixed. Another day his 2 chefs did not show up. I think running a business in Thailand must be a pain. I do think Googie's has good food and that he is fun to talk with. For those that are not sure of its location. It is across from Day Night Hotel by Center Condo off South Pattaya Road Quote

PattayaMale Posted November 9, 2008 Author Posted November 9, 2008 Is googies still for sale? I enjoy eating there away from the madding crowd. Googie was having medical problems when he put the restaurant up for sale. The medical issue is being treated successfully he has told me, but he is still receiving treatment. I understand he would like to sell and understands the listed price was too high. So I think if he sells or not he will be ok either way. It is just a long day 8am - 10pm or so. Quote
Guest MonkeySee Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I walked past Googie's today and noticed a handwritten sign stating "Closed 17 & 18. Interviewing staff." It was signed Googie. I hope they are able to open soon. Quote
Guest Gordon Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I walked past Googie's today and noticed a handwritten sign stating "Closed 17 & 18. Interviewing staff." It was signed Googie. I hope they are able to open soon. Think some writer's here should open their eyes and ears about the real reason for all the troubles. (Edited by Admin) Pattaya is full of people that know what's going on here, both gay and straight. Why are some of you trying to do a white wash job. Quote
PattayaMale Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 Why are some of you trying to do a white wash job.?? As for my posts about Googie, I don't feel it is up to me to state what may or may not be true about things personal in nature. I enjoy eating breakfast there and feel it is worth a try for others....when open! Quote
Gaybutton Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Why are some of you trying to do a white wash job.?? Since you're a relative newbie on this board, I'll leave it up to GayThailand as to whether to let your post stand or to wipe it. In all honesty, if I were to decide unilaterally I would delete your post and cancel your posting privileges right along with it. You know why I'm angry? Because you decided it was appropriate to come here and post an accusation without providing a shred of proof or evidence as to what you wrote. That is unacceptable. Apparently you expect people to simply take your word for it, while you get to hide behind the cloak of anonymity. _____ _____ By the way, in case anyone thinks I am somehow biased in favor of Googie, I don't know Googie and he doesn't know me. I wouldn't know him if he were sitting next to me. I ate breakfast there a grand total of once, about four years ago. I haven't eaten there at all since. The only reason is that it's not a convenient place for me to eat. The food was fine. Nobody knows who you are and nobody knows whether your post is credible or not. But in the past, just about every time someone comes from out of the woodwork to post this sort of allegation, it turns out to be someone who has a personal vendetta against the person being accused. I've been involved with these message boards for a lot of years and it doesn't take much for me to smell a major rat here. First, if you want to make an accusation, this is the wrong board on which to do it. Second, whether you make an accusation here or on any other board, you better be able to back up what you say. Third, if you ever do something like this again on this board I won't wait for GayThailand to decide. I'll decide the instant I see it. Your post will be gone and so will you. GayThailand knows he can overrule my decisions any time he wants without argument from me, but to date he never has. I'll take a "whitewash job" over a "hatchet job" any day of the week! ______________ Several hours later: As you can see, GayThailand has edited out some of the inappropriate remarks that were in the offending post. The gap you see in my post is where I followed up and edited out the portions of my post that would have revealed the very things GT edited out of Gordon's post. There is no place on this board for that kind of posting. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Luckily for Gordon, he is not in the US, because he would find himself in court over his posting. I am not sure, but I believe the same would be true in the UK. Quote
Guest Geezer Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Thai laws regarding defamation are much more strict than in the US and probably in the UK as well. It is my understanding that, according to Thai law, if a defamatory statement harms a person’s reputation or business the one making it can be prosecuted, even if the statement be true. Quote

I, like GB, do not know Googie from Adam, but know that many people like the food and his restaurant. When walking by, I noticed the sign and reported on it. Today, when I walked by around noon, I noticed the place open and several tables occupied with happy customers. Quote
Guest joseph44 Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Maybe it is possible to go back to the topic: "What happened with Googies?" instead of posting and editing dubious posts which are hard to follow, because are edited until there only hollow phrases. Quote

Good idea. If you really want to know what happened at Googie's, why don't you ask him? Quote
Guest MonkeySee Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Googies open for business. Walked by yesterday and there were plenty of what seemed to be happy customers. Quote
