Facebook or meetup groups for Brazil

Hi guys! I'm planning a trip to Brazil in a few months and I'm wondering if there are any places you guys use to chat up and make friends with garatos or other guys before your trips. Back when Manhunt and other web based meetup sights were popular you could search an area or city for profiles instead of relying on gps and whats in your immediate vicinity.

I'm definitly going to hit up the saunas in SP, Rio, PA and possibly Salvador (or another second tier city. I have a month there) But it would be nice to make friends beforehand like I normally do for other trips abroad. Are there facebook groups? Does anyone want to PM some personal friend pages? haha I'm into lean and muscle activo guys.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks and happy Carnival!

As difficult as it is to believe, you will not need any such groups like you described in your inquiry.

You said you would be visiting Brazil - I assume it is your first trip.

If you go back and read many of the threads and posts related to the cities in Brazil you plan to visit, you will have sufficient information to maneuver your way around the sauna scene in Brazil.

After you arrive in Brazil, you will find your way to the saunas that are discussed in this forum. You will learn by being in the saunas how to meet garotos. It takes little to no effort to meet garotos. You will be approached by garotos once you arrive in the saunas. You will have to learn to say "no" to garotos you do not find appealing.

As I wrote, your reading prior threads then going to the saunas, will be enough for you to enjoy yourself in the saunas in Brazil.

Sometimes, while in the saunas, you will hear English spoken. You can assume that the people speaking English are American or English or Australian. If you hear English, you can approach those speakers and ask for ideas about the saunas or other places to visit in Brazil. But, you really don't need help.

Brazil is unique - you won't need any groups to guide you - everything comes automatic. That is why people like Brazil so much. There is no other place in the world like it.

On the other hand, if you visit Salvador or Recife, I recommend that you consider a guide. But, a guide is not essential because there are some very fine saunas in those cities as well.

In short, read the threads and go to the saunas - everything else comes automatically.

Have a pleasant trip.

EDIT - clarification:

"On the other hand, if you visit Salvador or Recife, I recommend that you consider a guide. But, a guide is not essential because there are some very fine saunas in those cities as well."

When I said I recommend that you consider a guide for Salvador and Recife, I should have said that there is so much history in those two cities that a guide would be helpful if you intend to learn about the city in addition to learning about the saunas in those cities.

Do you speak any Portuguese? If you do you will be able to engage with other Brazilians online like A4A or possibly some sites that cater to Brazilians....

Brazil is different from a lot of other countries where you will have no problems meeting guys while you are there...friends on the other hard, not so much unless you speak the language or you meet a Brazilian that speaks English...

Based on your question, I strongly recommend you educate yourself with the country, the culture and the people prior to your trip...

Based on what you are into, you will have no problems in the saunas....the streets/beaches are a different story if you don't speak the language

Have a great time....

I guess I worded my question really badly and now I come across as some ignoramus. lol I know that I can of course have success finding guys down there when I arrive. I just like to make contacts that go beyond purely sexual.

I have a deep appreciation for the countries I choose to visit and I dont want to come across as some ignorant american (though to some degree we are all ignorant in some way or another).

Its just that in my years of travels, I've made so many great connections with guys from all over the world-mostly non sexual-that have led to unforgettable experiences that I normally would not have experienced had I stuck with the usual tourist schedule. Its just that most of these contacts happened on the old school systems like planetromeo, manhunt, etc. Now we live in the mobile app world with less ability to seek out kindred spirits beforehand. This site has a pretty large knowledge of the sauna scene and I really appreciate the info I gather here. I was just wondering if anyone else used any applications that led to connections. Currently Ive had some success on Growlr as there is a search option.

I don't speak Portuguese unfortunately but language has never been a huge barrier in other places Ive traveled.

Also, no offense to Salvador when I labeled it a second tier city. That was wrong of me and actually Salvador is where I am the most interested in from a historical perspective. Also they say it has the best cuisine in the country. I can't wait!!!

Thanks for the help guys.

I have over 100 Brazilians as FB friends, been to weddings, christenings, birthday parties where I was the only American during the past 15 years of visiting Brazil(one birthday party in Niteroi I was not only the only foreigner but the only white guy and had a amazing time and there were 8 guys there I knew from the saunas and over 100 people at the party), but all of those connections took place after I got to Brazil, not before, and the guys got a chance to know me outside the sauna! While certainly not impossible I think it is very difficult to establish those connections you are seeking in Brazil w/o speaking the language AND before you get there! just saying...
