Axiom2020 Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Gee back 11 days and still no follow up reports??? We’re patiently awaiting a thorough update! Quote
Guest lurkerspeaks Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 sorry for the delay in an update.. I came back and was back to work the next day.. 10 days of work before I got a day off... Ok, here goes in my apparent order... The apartment I rented in Ipanema was a fantastic find... great location, literally 20 feet from the Gen Osirio subway station. Clean, cozy one bedroom apartment that was going for around $60 USD per night. Lots of stores, restaurants, the gay beach, and even a gay bar within a couple of blocks. Saunas--I visited all three of the "main" rentboy saunas, 202, 114 and Meio Mundo. While they all have their pluses and minuses, I have to name 117 as the "best overall sauna". The usual entry fee at all saunas was $R57 (approx $15 current USD) 202 is really showing a lack of attention to the facilities--leaky roof, ripped, torn furniture. The main Plus for 202 is location. It is in Copacabana so close to where most "visitors' choose to stay. Garotos here range from skinny twinks to older, musclemen, and everything in between. Meio Mundo is the furthest of the saunas from the Zona Sul (area which encompasses Copacabana and Ipanema). Much like 202, the facilities are lacking in updates. But in my opinion, this sauna is more homey and comfortable. The boys here are more of the younger, "boy next door" type and less of the overly muscular, steroid type. 202 seems to have the most updated facilities. The boys here are more of the "polished" beach bunny type. There were a few twink types, a few overly muscular steroid types, and mostly muscle boys. The going rate for garotos is $R100. Some ask for more.. a few ask for less, but most can be had for that price. For an overnight, it appears the going rate is $R250-300 ($70-84, USD), but anything is possible..make an offer... Yes, inflation has raised prices in Rio over the last few years.. but the current exchange rate made it more affordable now than it was 3 years ago for Americans. I noticed a sign in one of the many pharmacies in Ipanema for VIagra, 50mg, 4 pills for $R58 (about $16 USD) Carretao is a popular Churrascheria (all you can eat grilled meat restaurant). The current price is $R95 (about $26 USD) The subway is easy to use for getting around between home base and the saunas.. There was a price increase as of Apr 2 of this year, raising the single trip cost to $R4.10. Taxis are also abundant and relatively cheap. A taxi from the airport to Ipanema cost $R75 ($21 USD)..On my day of departure, I took a subway to Meio Mundo, where I "relaxed" for a couple of hours before heading to the airport. Traffic was heavy during both taxi rides, so I ended up paying $R40 from Ipanema to Meio Mundo, and then another $60 from the sauna to the airport. The airport is undergoing renovations in anticipation of the upcoming Olympics. It is a little more user friendly than years past, but still way behind most major city airports. This trip was , for me, a time for relaxation and rest.. so I did not overdose on sex.... Here is a picture of my "favorite" boy of the trip, Marcelo...a cute (much cuter in person than in pic) 20yr old twink with the "dick of death". Quote
