Guest lurkerspeaks Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Many of the "old time, regular posters" here are gone completely, or as in my case, have cut way back in their postings. New members are few and far between. If there is ever any question as to why, all one needs to do is take a peek at the South of the Border forum to see the personal attacks, namecalling, and general trolling being done there. No adult of sound mind wants to be a part of such a childish, hostile, and angry community. It is the actions of a few who control the actions of many. I know Oz is opposed to banning and censorship, but as long as the negativity from a few LOUD mouthed people continue, this site will continue in its current state of stale activity. Is this site going to continue down the path it is on and become a dead forum? Or is there still hope for a future for boytoy? Quote
Members RA1 Posted December 5, 2015 Members Posted December 5, 2015 In some ways the aircraft pilot community feels the same way. Where are the new and "talented" pilots coming from? They are technically trained but have very litte experiece with the "real" world. Much the same might be said for posters. Where are the "new" and enlighted, experienced posters coming from? I know not where. I would like to be hopeful that they are here and willing but are only waiting upon an invitation to speak. SPEAK! Best regards, RA1 MsGuy and axiom2001 2 Quote
Members Suckrates Posted December 5, 2015 Members Posted December 5, 2015 Lurker, with all due RESPECT to your post here, I honestly dont believe internet feuds have anything to do with new or ongoing participation. Honestly, members select only limited forums to view or participate in. I was hard pressed to even find the offensive Forum you referenced. Trolling and feuding is pretty commonplace on the web. Heck, I have even been involved in a few feuds (LOL)... It comes with the territory, and there will always be a mix of people found: the do-gooders and the troublemakers amongst them. I believe membership and participation has to do with INTEREST. This Boytoy site has a reputation of being focused on Twinks and young men. If this is not your forte, you will not become "invested", although you may stop by and have a "look-see"... The ongoing debate and speculation over membership and participation has raged here, and on Daddy's site as well........... While Grandma herself has been blamed for the destruction of membership and participation on Daddy's and Boytoy sites, Daddys is still kinda dismal except for the handful of regulars despite me no longer participating for 2 years, and THIS site had its worst showing during the recent period that Grandma decided to "take a break"... I wasnt HERE, and neither was anyone else.... So I really dont think you can pin the reason for a sites inactivity on any ONE thing? Guys on these types of sites are looking for information and stimulation. They want answers to their questions and they wanna see NAKED GUYS..... and whether they choose to add anything of their own is strictly a personal choice. Very few potential members would be deterred by the occassional FEUD, if indeed their OWN needs were being met.... And really, these feuds only exist in specific Forums, and if that is a forum you dont visit, you wont even know about it... While I appreciate you posting and offering your views here, I think posts on THIS nature are only adding lighter fluid to the fire you claim already exists. While it is honorable to denounce bad behavior on the Web, the mention only seems to highlight or encourage it. We are all responsible for our own actions and should be cognizant of our behavior at all times..... Heaven knows GRANDMA is trying.... numerito and mvan1 2 Quote

Job well done. - Quote

TotallyOz Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 And, some wonder why someone repeats the same thing time after time. I get it. I don't get it. But, I do try to get it. I do believe that adults can control their own conversation and moderate their own discussion. I have always felt the same. I know that some disagree with me and I hate that not everyone believes exactly as I do as the world would be so much easier (for me at least). I have just not understood why people don't use the ignore feature for each and every person that they do not wish to see posts and threads by. To me, this is the easiest and simplest way to live on a message board when not everyone agrees with you. AdamSmith, axiom2001 and OneFinger 3 Quote

Also, where is the word "delete" in regard to an entire posting that one had posted? The editing button is fine, but at times I've posted only to have it be visible here because I have not found a key or whatever to delete in its entirety! Quote

The editing button is fine, but at times I've posted only to have it be visible here because I have not found a key or whatever to delete in its entirety! To ignore someone, go to the dropdown by your username on the forum (next to the messenger and notification icons). Select "My Settings". On the left hand side, select "Ignore Preferences". There you can add users to ignore and select what you want to ignore (i.e. posts, signature, messages, chats). Hope that helps. OneFinger and TotallyOz 2 Quote
