AdamSmith Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Neat site of oral histories of the Bomb project: http://manhattanprojectvoices.org/oral-histories/rose-bethes-interview That one linked above is with Rose Bethe, wife of Hans Bethe, physicist who ran the so-called Theoretical Division at Los Alamos (the other 3 divisions being Experimental Physics, Chemistry & Metallurgy, and Ordnance). In his career before and after Los Alamos, Bethe tossed off little bagatelles like figuring out how the sun works. RA1 and MsAnn 2 Quote

AdamSmith Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 Here we go! First of a dozen interviews here with General Groves of the Army Corps of Engineers who ran and drove the entire Manhattan Project including picking Oppenheimer to run Los Alamos. A fascinating person: http://manhattanprojectvoices.org/oral-histories/general-leslie-grovess-interview-part-1 MsAnn 1 Quote

I would be careful not read too much at any one sitting. But these interviews, more than a lot of other Manhattan Project stuff I've read, are a really engrossing firsthand look at what all it took to manage and drive and force to successful completion this huge, almost impossible scientific, engineering & industrial enterprise.
